*Elastic collision
*Inelastic collision.
In elastic collision, both linear momentum and kinetic energy is conserved.
In inelastic collision, linear momentum is conserved whereas kinetic energy is not conserved.

Just imagine like the entire equation is divided by 1/2. And 1/2 is common in all the terms of right and left hand side so they are cancelled.

Mam why we not substitute v1 and v2 in equation 1 what happen if we apply
We are already substituting equation 3 and 4( v2 and v1 expression) in equation 1, then only we are arriving at final equations for v1 and v2 in terms of masses (m1,m2) and initial velocities (u1,u2). So no need to substitute again.

Initially the velocities are u1 and u2, after collision their velocities are changed as v1 and v2.. Our aim is to calculate that final velocities.. If you substitute that 2 equations at the same time, the equation will have combination of both v1 and v2 that makes it difficult to solve.. That's why we are substituting the equations one after another..
