Think of tariffs like an entry fee for businesses trying to sell in the world’s biggest marketplace-the U.S. economy. It’s not something to fear; it’s just the cost of access to the largest consumer base in the world. Our GDP is unmatched, and people around the globe want a slice of that. So, they pay the price-whether it’s tariffs or trade concessions-to get their products in front of American consumers.
It’s no different than businesses paying their electric bill or us paying tolls on the highway. It’s a necessary expense to operate in a prime location. Tariffs are just part of the transaction, a way to level the playing field. So let’s stop overcomplicating it. This is business 101: If you want to play in the big leagues, you pay the price of admission.

The tariffs are a punishing tax on American small businesses. US manufacturers do not supply a huge number of parts and components. Big corporations have the means and capital to buy elsewhere or raise prices and take a profit hit. But small businesses with no American alternative to foreign parts will lose a ton of money to the government in tariffs and a ton of businesses to big-box when they raise prices. Trump and his billionaire buddies want to finish off Main Street to consolidate their corporations, and this is where it starts.

You can't just retool those refineries in a couple months. This WILL hurt the US since they already buy 60% of all their crude oil imports from Canada at a heavily discounted price, which they then process and sell for double. Let me break it down for you. Tariffs cause short-term price shifts, but over the long term, they encourage companies to bring manufacturing back to America, since the taxes on domestic production would ultimately be lower than the cost of tariffs. That’s when jobs start coming back.
Trump has floated the idea of eliminating federal income taxes, and I think these two moves-raising tariffs and cutting income taxes-work together. The key is that he needs to act fast while he still has a majority.
The media loves to stir up fear about tariffs, but they often miss the most important point: we are the largest economy in the world. Other countries depend on us to buy their goods. We drive global demand. So, no, tariffs aren’t the disaster they’re made out to be.
Trump has a global business perspective that most politicians don’t. He knows how the world works in ways they don’t. Let him use that understanding to create a stronger, safer future for all of us-one that ensures prosperity and protects our freedoms for generations to come.

    • @crgeissler
      @crgeissler 5 дней назад +2

What you don’t understand is 3 million barrels of Canadian oil is directly shipped via pipeline across the US/Canada border everyday. For the most part, exporting Canadian oil goes through Texas or to Vancouver to get on a ship. Vancouver is on the wrong side of the planet to ship to Europe. Canada doesn’t have enough export capacity at its ports to move more than a small fraction of 3 million barrels daily.
Also most Canadian oil can’t be exported to Europe because they don’t have refineries that can process the heavier oil anyway.
The refineries in places like Illinois can only refine heavy oil. They can’t process most US oil without billions of dollars and years of reconfiguration. So the Midwest’s choice for 3 million barrels a day is Canada or … Venezuela? That doesn’t sound like a choice that makes America safer.
These supply chains are hand-in-glove. It will take years and be very expensive to decouple.

Canada has the lowest number of people, and the least pollution of any country but the highest carbon tax of any country. Why should 25 million Canadians pay the most for world pollution than the other 7 billion people in the world who cause pollution.? No one cent of what is taken for carbon tax will make any difference to world pollution so the scam is to take all those billions for Canada to keep you all poor and the scammers rich. You are so clueless of your own country you do not even know that you live in a Communist country. Try reading your Trudeau communist constitution that is clear you do not have a right to own land in Canada as it all belong to the Government. That is communism NOT democracy. That is why you are not allowed to protest. Those who protested are all in prison. Educate yourself because you do not understand taxes. In Canada you pay about 80% of your income in taxes. You must add up all taxes you pay. property tax is and income tax because you can only pay it from your income. Trump may be able to delete the income tax to zero in the US by using a tariff. I bet you would like to have zero income tax instead of 80%. most people would.

In theory yes, but it isn’t ever going to happen. Those heavy crude refineries were built in the 1980s. The shale oil boom which is light crude started showing up in the 2010s and has had a bust as well. Oil companies will not spend billions and years to build light sweet crude refineries. Canada did invest and now they charge us to process our light crude. The margins for shale aren’t great since fracking is expensive and wells are short lived.
The rest of the world is switching to EVs and dumping oil while there is demand still.
Bottom line is that state sponsored oil companies made investments in refineries and green energy while corporations lined their pockets by not building factories and relied on cheap imports. America made a ton of money but none of it was invested back into the US so now we are crumbling.

    1) Petroleum - we don't use any of that right MAGA.
    2) Cars - we don't need those either since we have no need for Petroleum.
    3) Lumber - who the heck uses lumber?
    4) Canada is one of the largest exporters of energy to the US - we never use any of that, right?
Chief exports from Mexico to the US:
    1) Cars - Oops, there's those darn cars again that we don't need.

Bryan you need a lesson in basic comprehension of simple fact and terms. Alberta worked out a deal with Trump because that is what Trump does. He makes deals. There will be no tariff on oil from Alberta so NO change. There will be new pipe lines from Alberta to the USA so the flow will double because Trump makes deals that are better for the USA. The cars from Canada are junk. They just lost 3000 jobs from Canada making crap cars and moved them to the USA . That is 3000 jobs the first week Trump was in office. The second week there were another 3000 jobs moved from Quebec to the USA from Amazon. Computers do not come from Canada. Canada does not make anything. They only sell resources to other countries. I hope this helps you understand how little you know about anything.

" Canada's pathetic contribution to NATO " ? Canada leads and is the major element in the Multi-National Battle Group on Latvia. Smoke and Mirrors - US importers pay the tariffs to the government and pass the cost on to US consumers. Government MIGHT use the revenues to fund tax cuts. Assuming the tax cuts go to individuals (not just corporations) - the taxpayer pays for their own tax cut. this doesn't even include the cost to the taxpayer of retaliatory tariffs from Canada and Mexico. It's a con.

This policy is a short-sighted approach with disastrous consequences for ordinary people, particularly in the U.S., where the true burden falls. Tariffs are paid by importers, not exporters, resulting in increased prices for essential goods and services, which directly affect household budgets. Businesses relying on imported materials face higher costs, leading to layoffs or closures, further straining the economy. While some cheered Trump’s decisions, they will soon face the harsh reality of skyrocketing prices, job losses, and a diminished standard of living as these tariffs ripple through supply chains. The supposed benefits are overshadowed by the heavy toll on average Americans who shoulder the economic fallout.
