About the positive review bombing of Ozob, I think I can clarify what’s happening being a Brazilian myself. Ozob is an IP famous because of a RPG podcast created by a huge channel over here called Jovem Nerd. People are crazy about the character over here and he has even made an appearance on Cyberpunk 2077 the videogame. They launched the campaign restricted for the Brazilian market and it has amassed over 4 million reais that’s roughly 700k dollars, the biggest bg crowdfunding ever in South America. Parallel to that they are doing tons of demonstrations and gameplays on various events (they have even one that runs every weekend on São Paulo) and are actively asking for people to go over bgg to leave their impressions about the game and generate international awareness. The game itself is being well received and has even a tabletop simulator level for demo purposes. The international campaign is set to start after the domestic one is finished and will carry over the stretch goals reached over here. The designers are both Brazilian guys and one of them has worked on zombicide I think, so there is your connection about the feel hahaha
@@Rackor hi man. Still is very strange that people would create an account on BGG woñith the only purpose of “creating international awareness”. Is BGG not used over there in Brazil? How is it that boardgamers do not have one , so that they can properly rank a board game they like. (Or maybe RPG is a different world, which I don’t know of). But in any case, I would say, instead of creating awareness, they are damaging the reputation of the game and or designers by doing this kind of things…. Anyway, happy gaming there in Brazil
@ I really don’t know if it’s the best way to generate buzz for the game but, that’s what’s happening with that situation. In regards to BGG over here we have a Brazilian site called Ludopedia that is basically a BR version of what bgg does, so many of us doesn’t use bgg regularly or even have an account because the features are on this other website. So that kinda explains the new accounts together with attracting public out of boardgame niche to the game too. Cheers!
@@marcosseven8872boardgames is a very specific niche in Brazil, so it is not very common to use bgg, but the IP and producers of this crowdfunding are big here. As an example, I never used bgg before, but I got into this crowdfunding (im very hyped), and created a bgg account to help with international crowdfunding, since national goals go to the international, and international goals will come to Brazil too. So the giant JOVEM NERD community is committed to spreading the word about ozob so that everyone has the best possible version of the game. the campaign ended with more than 5 million, a surreal campaign (although our money is worth less than the dollar, 5 million is still 5 million here, since we receive and spend it in Real). The game will already be produced with 2 expansions and more than 10 extended goals from national crowdfunding. We now hope that during the international campaign the game will get even better btw this game is SO fun, incredible
For Clans of Caledonia, it's not just about the expansion, but about getting the base game. I've been on the hunt for the base game for the last 5 years (for a reasonable price). Never saw it on the second hand market in my area and didn't want to order from the US or Europe. This will give a lot of people a chance to get their hands on the base game, and maybe even add in the expansion too. I plan on backing with the expansion. The insert in the trailer video for the KS looks fantastic.

Good to know. I wasn't aware it was that hard to obtain. that would change things for a lot of people then i'd wager if others are in a similar situation
Almost finished my Oathsworn campaign, so excited to see Avalon. I love the Arthurian lore and Tainted Grail really didn't work for me (have yet to try the second edition). Revenant has me interested, despite having no experience of Voidfall. I thought that I would love Evershade, but the more I see, the less interested I am! I had similar feelings with Grimcoven. Started out with an all-in pledge and cancelled before the end of the campaign. Maybe interested in Defenders of the Realm, depending on price. Agree with your comments on Castle Panic super dooper edition. I love miniatures but didn't need that level of deluxification on a simple but very good game. Tokens are just fine.
Dungeon Universalis is well loved and so is League of Dungeoneers because they are developed by a single person and many volunteers, and the creators are very passionate about the games to the point they barely make any money. The other well-loved game that is coming with an expansion in 2025 is Machina Arcana with updated rules and mechanics. I am very much in invested in all those games. In regard to DUN, it is a more approachable D&D game for non-TTRPG players. It is far easier to DM that game than a 5e game. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Cthulhu: Death May Die - Forbidden Reaches. Season 5 & 6 plus Godzilla plus DmD Time Machine where you can pick up everything they made for past campaigns. Lands of Evershade is a wait for me. If it is really good, we will see it again like Nemesis.
Liege, I watch you a lot, but I have rarely been influenced by your advice about what NOT to back. I think I am making pretty sensible decisions, but I do appreciate your advice about how to make them. Now THIS TIME, I thank you: I had many little doubts about backing Evershade, and you have persuaded me not to. If it turns out to be a great game (which at the moment seems not very likely), I can buy it later. Evershade was a great temptation for me. This is exactly the kind of game I like to play. But will it be too fussily complex? will the rulebook be a mess? Will all the narrative decisions I will make turn out to be window dressing? I'll sit on my wallet this time, and thanks to adding to my doubts. -toby
I never played Clans of Caledonia and heard good things about it so I am planning on picking it up. Also the delay was because they decided to do more playtesting which IMO is a good sign of a designer dedication to his product. I am tons of big box thematic board games: Cthulhu Death May Die, Oathsworn , Black Rose Wars Rebirth, Andromeda's Edge, etc. Yet, I think a good well-balanced economic game is a worth having in its collection.
A friend has clans and we played it for the first time recently. It is fun - nuanced in clever ways. What do you think of BRW: Rebirth? I've recently gotten it but haven't tabled it yet.
@@davidhughes595 It is fun, chaotic and there is a lot of good things going for it. It is a long setup (not as long as Andromeda's Edge) and not everything seems to be perfectly balanced as some magic schools seems weaker than others. I have played it 5 times only so I might be wrong. But where you can really go crazy is with the Forgotten spells if you are lucky. There is a lot of replayability if you have the kickstarter box. Otherwise with the core box, you can have fun for quite some times but I would consider buying expansions if you plan of playing it every weekend. Overall, I really like it and glad I own it.
@@Exozik That is cool to hear - makes me excited to play it. I ended up getting the ROTAS box 2nd hand. It's crazy all the value in that. The only thing that gets tricky is figuring out where to store stuff in addition to other board games 😅. But those are definitely first world problems. Anyhow, happy gaming!!
@davidhughes595 I asked someone I know to print me a 3d insert. There is some very nice that the community members create and they are available for free. Everything fit in the core box plus the 2 extras box you can buy. You just need someone you know with a 3D printer.

Exactly, i joke about the delay, but knowing things like that i totally support always coming to crowdfunding later with a more finished product
„Revenant“ is very promising. I had a chance to play a demo at Essen this year. I would compare it mostly with „The Great Wall“ - ie a competitive worker placement game with semi-coop tower defence elements. So if you like The Great Wall, I would assume you will also like Revenant.
I'll most likely back Storyfold, though I''ll be looking to see if there any reason to back vs wait for retail. I'll be looking at Western Legends Stories but most likely won't back it.
I was eager to go ALL IN on Evershade… until recently. Their latest videos and updated campaign page has me a weeeee bit more tentative now. I think those character builds from the player handbook are nice, but I hate arbitrary dice checks (roll a 10 to see if you can save the cat in the tree.) HATE it. Even with mitigation, where’s the player agency? The character boards also have me worried because despite how nice they look, the character building seems to have a lot of parameters which really limits the role play aspect. But I’m still holding my breath. Story of Many really raised the bar for RPG board game world-building and mechanics. Lands seems like a streamlined experience for a more commercial audience, which isn’t bad. But may not be for me Edit: hate is a strong word, and sometimes dice checks DO work if implemented properly. I think it’s still early to tell, but I hope LoE lives up to expectations
They are purposefully doing this. LoE is suppose to be an RPG Adventure and they are heavily invested in the claim that it's like an RPG but without a GM. They are borrowing mechanics from other RPGs to simulate that, in this case dice checks. This is on our group radar to check but currently on the fence. Then again I'm sucker for elf paladins (and thanks for WoW's burning crusade for that) so.... I'll push for that, for no logical reason.
@ that is true I suppose. I think the dice checks work well with RPGs (with DMs) to simulate the tension and challenge. But in a board game like this, I was hoping for more player autonomy and decision impact. For example, collecting key items after making a decision to go a certain way AND performing well in combat. And the key items unlock different story threads. I guess that’s my gripe with it

I'm gonna have to watch a lot of stuff. But also i want a rulebook above all else
Uugh my wallet. Oathsworn, Voidfall and Hegemony pretty much all jumped into my top games after playing them. And their next games all look extremely promising
Looking forward to your Godtear playthrough. I sussed it out and it's well over $240 AU to just have enough for 3 teams each. What are the bestest guys to purchase to get 3 for both players please?

Oof. I'm probably the wrong person for the best ones to purchase, i only play for fun not at all competitive lol
I was following Dungeon Universalis until I learned they aren't offering the base game as an option to add to the pledge. Their webstore is sold out... so unless you already have the game you can't pledge for the expansion. Seems like a terrible business model and turned me off. I am not going to go hunt down a base game before campaign ends just so I can back. Unfollowed and lost interest
Just as you said, really looking forward to the end of the Avalon embargo. :D My timeline will be completely flooded. Also giving Revenant a small look. I really think Lands of Evershade just isn't for me, even if I like the idea.
I love Voidfall, and I was really excited for Revenant. Then I started really looking at what is out there, and I’m less excited. Hopping it’s better than what I’ve seen so far. Western Legends is an easy pass for me. I like WL, but this feels unnecessary.
Regarding Vestige, for me: "generic fantasy" > sci fi. But it doesn't seem to separate itself enough from Vindication for me. I worry that Everdell Farshore - while being "different" from Everdell base game, but mechanically similar - started a trend in board games.
13 дней назад
I think Farshore was may more the one that broke the dam cause i feel like its been well before that too but now its a little bit of a copycat situation because others see it doing so well and want in too
