Varial heelflips and laser flips are my fav tricks to do also. I’ve figured out that pointing your front foot slightly towards your back toes helps and makes varial heels easier, because all of the rotation is around the front foot. It also makes laser flips a piece of cake.
Florida Boy Bro I still can’t figure out Laser flips. I’ve landed only 2 of them. Imma try them tomorrow using your advice see how that goes
fernando reyes Just remember that you still need to focus on the back foot. Don’t put it on the edge of the board, find a spot where the entire ball of your foot can fit on the board. Pop helps with the trick
Florida Boy When I put my back foot in the middle of the tail I get a lot of pop but I always end up losing control of the board. When I put it in the pocket, it’s a little bit easier to keep the board under me
using a line to show where the flick goes is a really nice idea

@@christianflores Could you add a stick figure or just an arrow on what the skater's body weight or balance does to this? Because I noticed when I keep my head above the front bolts basically, ie. lean quite a bit forward after popping down in normal balance first, allows me to stay above the board much better. This shift in weight isn't always obvious, but sometimes it is very obvious, like in a pop shove it that doesn't stay under you yet (say, a 'beginner pop shove it', obviously by the time you scoop them forward more, they will stay under you).
Yeah I think it's really helpful for people who learn through visuals

The 3D animation and flick comparison with lines were REALLY good. The line from the flick and comparison in particular was really really good. Most tutorials just vaguely say how things differ but don't show you

landed my first varial heel today! after trying to land it for multiple sessions, today I rewatched this video before skating, and it clicked after a few tries, I did stop rolling after landing it and my feet were a little bit too toeside over the bolts, did not touch the ground though, so I'm for sure taking it. this video helped me alot to understand this trick, thank you so much for making it! much love ✌❤️

This was really good man, the animations are on point, probably the best tutorial I've ever seen...
That 3D animation definitely helps. One thing I would like to see is how the slide moves in 3D, because a lot of tricks start with a slide up the board and then go off the board, but it is rarely ever this hard edge turn. I've noticed with my varial kickflip attempts it is okey to let the board nose come up fairly high, then flick hard enough will get it down to normal height pretty well. I suck at even trying half a heelflip though (they always rocket, huge risk of getting credit carded). So no varial heels for me.

yeah man that 3d was really helpful!! 1st person perspective helps as well, makes it easier to imagine the trick as youre learning it and havent yet landed it :)

I've been trying for almost 4 years. more of a transition skate but this one hooked me. my problem is the back foot

hi christian! i’m having some trouble with my heelflips. I can kickflip, backside flip, half cab flip, and varial so i’m somewhat familiar with flip tricks. When i heelflip, my front foot only lands on the heel and i can never land them cuz my front foot lands barely on the board. i hope you can help. great vid btw

On another note, I know you are most likely going to review the Joslin 2 at a later date, but how's the sizing on those? The Maranas are perfect for me in 9.5, but for the Joslin 1 I had to go with a 10.
