Im a Birmingham city fan can confirm this was true, 2011 carling cup final vs arsenal won 2-1 after calamity of a goal from the defender and goalkeeper clashing, would of went through the group stages of europa Cup but went out because of head to head if I remember, was a great season
@@subaroov2 stoke was in europa league that season aswell , we had difficult group managed finish 2nd in the group then went out to valencia lost 1-0 at home due to a wonder goal then lost away dispite looking the better team away . I grew up watching peter thorne in league one never expected see stoke in the premier league let alone go on a european tour in my life time
From a Wigan fan's perspective, this was, ironically, one of the best squads in our 8 seasons of Premier League football - I think winning the FA Cup showed its obvious potential. We finished with 36 points, a pretty respectable tally that would be enough for survival more seasons than not - despite losing *seven* first team defenders to injury in the second-half of the season. Ivan Ramis suffered a serious ligament injury in January 2013 in real life, too, which is kind of freaky! Ramis, Figueroa (first-choice CBs), Lopez (back-up CB), Beausejour (starting LWB) and Stam (back-up RB) were all injured for the final. Alcaraz (starting CB) only just came back for the final after months out and Caldwell (back-up CB) was named on the bench despite carrying an injury, only because there was nobody to replace him with and there were already two reserve team players (Fyvie, Golobart) in the squad as it was. The goal-scorer, Watson, of course only returned that week after being out for 6 months with a broken leg. All the injuries meant that McArthur played RWB for the first and probably last time in his career. City, by comparison, had a 100% healthy squad except for Scott Sinclair, who didn't even make their squad most weeks anyway so it didn't impact them. Winning the cup final was incredible in itself, but the squad situations is something most people don't know about and makes the achievement even more of a miracle.
Birmingham city mate. They won the carling cup and got relegated and were in Europe in the championship. They got ten points and didn’t make it out the group stages due to match fixing from braga and bruuge
Fun facts: Roberto Martinez managed Swansea City before he came to Wigan Athletic. Arsenal actually relegated Wigan to the Championship after a 4-1 win.
Imagine Wigan made it back to the Championship this season whilst Arsenal get relegated from the Premier League and Wigan end up relegating Arsenal to League One when they meet each other in the second tier next season after a 4-1 win at the DW Stadium.
Your Wrong, Birmingham Won The League Cup And Got Relegated. Meaning They Played In The Europa League While In The Championship. Same With Millwall And Portsmouth Who Came 2nd And Got A Europa League Place.
FIFA 13, my Dad's favourite game and game with Career Mode. He still plays it to this day, at least 2-3 times a week. And I remember playing this game a lot too! Lovely game.
When Mikel Arteta can provide Arsenal more goals as a player in a video game (1) than as a manger in real life, which is the crucial goal to eliminate Jarrad’s 2013 Wigan side.
Millwall made the UEFA Cup in 2004 after they reached the FA Cup Final that year. This was the time when the FA Cup runner up would get into the UEFA Cup if the FA Cup winners already qualified for Europe. In this instance Manchester United already qualified, so Millwall got in.
They didn't go on to win, and it isn't massively retro but the young Ajax team in 2019 (FIFA 18) who were knocked out by a Lucas Moura hat trick to not make the UCL final, and were dismantled by the next summer would be a nice one to see have another crack at it, especially with such a sick young squad.
You should do a rebuild with fifa 11 Blackpool but you can only sign players who are icons in fifa 21 and try to win the champions league before they all retire
When Middlesbrough got relegated we were runner up in bother EFL cup and FA if we had won we could’ve been in europa league while being in championship
When Sunderland won the FA Cup in 1973 they were in the second division when they won it. So they ended up playing in the Cup Winners Cup and got knocked out in the first round
Great vid! Jarrad could You do a FIFA 14 Tottenham rebuild challenge because that was the year Bale left and Tottenham spent the money on terrible players
Millwall lost the FA cup final in 2004 to Manchester United. As Manchester United had already qualified for the champions league, Millwall would be playing European football regardless of the result.
Callum McManaman MOTM in FA Cup final. Didn't become the star that game promised, at the age of 29 plays his traits for Tranmere. He has played in the Prem, Championship, League Two but never in League One. Wich I think is quite funny regarding his age stepping from Championship straight down to League 2.
Jarrad I won the league Cup with Yeovil town and we reached the europa league semi finals while in league 1 we had team with youth academy players and regens.
FIFA 13 is the best FIFA game ever! In Manager Mode you didn’t need to scout players to see their overalls and attributes and all the information is at your fingertips! And the gameplay is so consistent and much more simple! And the soundtrack was pretty good as well! I still play FIFA 13 today!
The only downside is you’d have to save the career mode before every match. Getting an interruption meant you had to turn off the ps3 in the middle of a match. The ps4’s rest mode feels like a god send.
Birmingham city literally played in the europa league two years earlier after winning the league cup - you should do a video on fifa 11 doing that!
Yh but I think they were at the prem right?
