Outstanding video. Nailed it. Every time that I contemplate changing platforms I think about all the work it requires-something that I didn’t do when i was more inexperienced. For all the reasons that you highlighted I’ve found that it’s much easier and cheaper to just stay with what are got; saves me time and money.

Your videos are such a benefit to me as a first year USPSA and steel challenge shooter. I will build these ideas in to my winter prep for next year. Thank you, for sharing and putting together a great training guide.
Great video. Funny story. In the middle of watching this while a young plumber is at my house taking care of a problem. He walks through and says , “I love his videos”. I said really,: Really? I shot with him a few times in matches. lol. Small world. See you Tuesday night!!
@@TheGentlemanGunner I posted a short video from last night. LOL, watch it for a laugh.... Trying to figure out what my off hand was doing while moving!
Performance on demand is such a fun topic. My first string in gssf last week was in heavy metal division with a gun I hadn’t shot in “I forgot” how long. The bad. Was my worst run of the day. 7s on a plate rack figuring out where bullets were going!!!! The good. I course corrected and my 9mm and 10mm runs fell within the mean of averages for me. (3.6s per string per plate rack). Doing the homework and being more prepared I get another top 10 finish ez. Something something “expect a dip in performance” - Gentlman gunner …..or Wild Bill….probably.
I recently shot a gssf match shooting 9 divisions in a single day. 5 / 9mm 2 / 10mm 1 / 380 1 / 22. Now they were all Glocks. But rather then focusing on that think about the 6 different Glocks I shot. 2 different subcompacts 1 g42. This turns gssf from a battle of skill with an individual gun to a fight of baseline skills with no aftermarket mods allowed save for unlimited. (I did that with zero mods in unlimited). Results? 3 of 9 top 10 overall finishes. Add up to top 16 8/9 One woeful 21st overall place. 3 guns I hadn’t touched in 6 months and I had to yeet a string to figure out my holds. My point? Is that this video is absolutely correct. More comments later.
I’ve always seen shooting as a test of baseline skill. Almost all my issues migrate. Regardless of trigger mechanism. It is a good idea to “start somewhere” until you get good or feel like you have peaked. Usually getting a new gun or girlfriend addressing the peaking part. But people still change guns more then we should myself included shooting only Glocks.
Topic of conversation for yourself. Other than becoming a RUclips sensation. Whats your current rotation of guns for competition? How does this compare to conceal carry? This could be a video in of itself. Might be an interesting podcast idea too.
@@JakeCamo I personally haven’t, we have a handful of local shooters that love it. There are two particular shooters that I know that have spent quite a bit of time on it… and along with their regular practice routine… have made noticeable improvements!
Nice vid. When carrying your EDC in AIWB, can you tell a difference in comfort when carrying a gun with a shorter slide & frame like a sig macro compared to a longer one like a glock 19? If yes, is it a significant difference in comfort? What about the comfort difference between a sig macro vs. glock 17? Also, for your 25 yard bill drills, do you think the 365 legion and ramjet'd g45 performed so well in large part due to you having shot many thousands of rounds on those platforms/brands? Or no, those guns are truly outperforming others? And lastly as a hypothetical: for, say, the ramjet'd g45 bill drill, how much more time do you believe you could shave off (if you were to guess), if you tricked it out even more with things like a DPM kit, aftermarket trigger, gas pedal, etc? A half second off the time? Would be interesting to see.
@@saintmichael753 hey again! I’m not sure if you saw it… but I answered your EDC questions on the Sand Viper short… did you see it? 25yd Drill with Ramjet & 365 - of all the platforms/setups I have… those two are the ones I have least when you compare it to any competition guns. To add to that, I have been shooting hammer fired guns as my goto comp gun for the last 2 years. Where I’m going with this thought is two things… In theory, I should actually be slower if we’re gauging this on rounds/experience and the fundamentals are the fundamentals… that’s all you see going on along with me shooting at the best of my ability for that day. G45 G2G - a majority of your questions will be answered in the upcoming video. I actually sprung the recoil spring to the ammo I choose (Blazer 115A)!

New shooters read this : find a match locally. Ask questions about minimum gear to shoot in the sport with what you have. And just GO! Thoughts on speed….. I kinda hear fingernails on a chalk board when I hear several words or phrases… Calling a pistol purchased and added a dot and light a “build” Calling different brands of handguns “platforms” And “slow down get your hits”. That last one was my point : I think too many people say that and think it’s insight or deep when in fact they mean “shoot to not lose”. All matches for me are 90-100% and I am constantly observing the targets and taking notes. Doing it the way you document in this video works too. I just find that I can always go slower, I can only practice to go faster so many times and ways. Also context matters it might take me 6 months to get to 6k rounds in a gun. Others that could be 2 months or 2 years. Point is have a journal.
@@rurouniad one phrase that stuck with me in regards to speed is don’t shoot faster… shoot sooner. Someone pointed this out to me and fast to me at the time meant… yank the gun harder, slap the crap out of the trigger regardless of distance, and run harder… thinking “sooner” got me in the mode of… get the gun up quicker as well as exit hard but smooth on entry. This was tough for me because I suffer (and still do to an extent) from shooting in the red mist. But great thoughts today my dude!
@ yes that’s a good phrase. *yoink* I also quote the movie “Robinhood : Prince of thieves” “Get up, move faster.” “Move faster, great idea.” I think not having a nice flat range to move around and being forced mostly to do indoor ranges or outdoor competitions has forced me to embrace my uncomfortable zone.
