I really enjoyed this video, and me being caught up in Tower of God, it’s great to see you get so involved in tower of god and explain the lore of it, hopefully you read it and I would love to see chapter reviews if you do plan on reading in the future, there’s so much world building and lore within Tower of God, to me it’s like the one piece of webtoons😭
In the webton, Fishermen actually use fishing lines and reels. Hence the name. There they are mid-range to close-range fighters. But the anime (both seasons) cut the reel inventory for no reason.
The author really likes the sea, so most of this is based on it. Shinsoo is everywhere and takes the place of air, but can change density, pressure, and move and flow like water. The roles were made when the 10 great family heads first climbed the tower, noone else had done it so all their opponents were the big monsters you see that are based on fish, like the bull in S1. So that's why the roles are like a hunting party in the ocean. Fisherman catches the fish and overpowers it by fighting it directly; spearbearers are like spearfishing (hard af to do because water refracts light); lighthouses provide light so people can navigate; wave controllers control the sea to make everything easier, so they're like a trump card if you have a good one; Then there's scout. Fuck all to do with the sea. Just chilling trying to fit in with the others (coulda been called diver).
