    Alex, great piece as usual. The issues you raise are a wider cultural problem, where individuals don't get the recyling (segregating) waste or even using any bins! The attitude of "someone is paid to clean up after me attitude" is unacceptable anywhere. Local businesses are a must versus the big chains and the 'dress code' elements always makes me laugh, would you go into a supermarket or restaurant in UK wearing little more than your birthday suit? So why do people think it's any different when you're on holiday.
    The more reminders people get, the better chance of something sticking in with the minority. 100%. Keep reminding

    I bet it'll be the local independent businesses that suffer the most because of the protests. I actually sympathise with the protesters, and hope everyone can work together to find a solution that works for everyone. But for now, people see angry mobs on TV, and some of those people are going to want to avoid the less familiar, and that means more people staying close to their hotel and fewer people venturing out very far beyond the main tourist areas.

    • @MallorcaUnderTheSun
      @MallorcaUnderTheSun  Месяц назад +2

      There aren’t angry mobs here. Looking at the news coming out of the U.K. at the moment this was a peaceful protest. I’ve made lots of content about this . Not sure if you’ve seen

    • @anftrew3775
      @anftrew3775 Месяц назад +2

      Yes I've followed your content a lot, and I've also read websites of various protest groups. I can see that the media is twisting things. But my point is most people won't bother to research the matter. They'll just go with the headlines.
      EDIT: One of your videos showed something that reminded me why the Spanish people are so awesome. It was close up coverage of a protest. People had made huge, fairly detailed cardboard mock-ups of cruise ships and airplanes to visually highlight some of the problems. I loved how they'd put time and effort into preparing. The could have just turned up and shouted or waved a banner that someone else had mass produced for them but no. They took time out to get really creative. They are beautiful people, and I really want them to find a solution that works for them while still letting us visit.

If you are not prepared to be respectful to the local population, support the local economy and leave an area as clean as you found it, then don't go there. Having a relaxing and fun holiday can still be achieved without behaving disrespectfully.

No offence just your videos. We are intelligent sustainable tourists. Well travelled. But I’ve never felt unwelcome anywhere. For an extra £120 each we can go half board. People go on holiday for a short break from rules and regulations back home, (dress code being an exception).
    It is not tourists fault that authorities grant Airbnb licenses or that hire companies rent out cars.
    Some people also can't get their kids to eat unfamiliar food, (not a good thing) so some leeway has to be granted to global/foreign brands. There are plenty of Tapas eateries in the UK that no doubt have an affect on other outlets.
    Re Airbnb, socialists rarely own anything and prefer nobody else but the state does either.
    Brits being made to feel unwelcome, whether justified or not will go elsewhere and no doubt have the desired affect on the problematic numbers of visitors.
    Sorry Alex but this video smacks of Nimbyism, Please do a video of some of the splendid areas of the Island away from the coast.

      The comment about kids wanting to eat familiar food is a really good point and one I didn’t think of. Not really NIMBYism (I had to google that word) but just pretty sad to see tourist destinations becoming a copy and paste of each other. Big corporations owning the lions share of eateries and smaller local businesses being driven out. I guess it’s the way the world is going but at the end of every season we see so many places closing for good - it’s quite sad.
