I'm a long time fan i have always described them as a country influenced ROCK band for sure. awesome totally rocking then stripped down raw acoustic just great stuff! .
songs about his sister. it was a really messed up situation for our whole family and even though the guys disbanded you can still see them play. cody and jeremy are in the departed and randy is with stoney larue
I know what you mean about radio ramming music down our throats. I am fortunate to live near Woodstock, NY, they have an independent and locally owned station that plays great music and they aren't afraid to wander off the beaten path. Late nights get very interesting....
Those polished up, trying too hard "country bands", need to take a listen to this. This hits you where you live, and pretty, thank you no. These guys are beautiful!
That's interesting to hear about Woodstock; as the Woodstock Event in '69 was a masterpiece of corporate greed. Nice to hear that it sprouted some roots in the future generations there.
"Dead Man" Judgment coming down on you Now your conscience is kicking in Everybody's to blame baby but you Now my patience is wearing thin [Chorus:] Get out of my life you're coming unthread Out of your mind over your head And you wonder why you're all alone Losing your grip coming undone Using your mouth like a Gatling gun I won't be your stepping stone If there's a dead man in my closet Show me the bones What did I ever do to you? I've always loved you just the same I hate feeling like I do I wish my blood wasn't in your veins [Repeat chorus] Now you wanna take it back Well you could beg and you could plead I ain't cutting you no slack And you ain't no 'a part of me Get out of my life you're coming unthread Out of your mind over your head And you wonder why you're all alone Losing your grip coming undone Using your mouth like a Gatling gun I won't be your stepping stone If there's a dead man in my closet Show me the bones If there's a dead man in my closet Show me the bones
I really despise mainstream "country" music. To be honest, the label "country" usually drives me away so quickly that I never even give it a chance. This group however, has really surprised me. I am rather sorry that I did not know about them before they went their separate ways. Interesting feeling :p
I agree and get that, but I am an old dude and hack musician, and I just realized one day the only thing that matters is if I like it. Plus if everyone else liked it, all the people on here would shift to "these guys sold out". Enjoy the music!
@jessemas27 They are an awesome band, there are great bands all over the country that are never known outside their regions, but in their own area they're heros. The problem is mainstream America doesn't want to hear real music anymore, or see anyone that doesn't look pretty for the camera. I would love to see them become recognized around the world instead of all those pop stars out there that just lip sing cookie cutter souless songs that they didn't even write.
@cjoeguid I agree for the most part, but I think that most Americans would welcome the real artists who write, sing, and perform their own original music. I think that more of the problem lies in the business where they are just following the same old formula to achieve big sales. When a radio station plays the same song 17 times in a day, they are ramming it down your throat, telling Americans what to like. I hate that. The most talented people may never be known.
Like but too much like Blind Faith (Clapton) on the guitar riffs. Good tune too much influence from Clapton. Remember George Harrison and his 1st Album.

I just found these guys but to me they don't sound like country, they sound more like hard southern rock. Like Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I'm a huge Ragweed fan so don't get me wrong. But, how did they change music forever?

dude, did they sell out or did they cash in?
This is what I wish I could say to my adult son. He "disowned" me years ago and I am done trying...
I know its hard, you can tell him what you think, but don't ever give up on him just maybe he will come around.
