Max is a one in a millennium player. Meaning, I believe he is one in 5 billion of a player …truly is. The world has never, ever seen what Max is doing on the guitar. Period. Max is not playing frets, he is iceskating on them. Max is not playing scales he is digging out, Turns, come around, corner fillers, middle note runs and many, many other things previously, unseen, nor heard on the guitar. One could write a whole thesis on what he’s doing. Max is the max!

In my humble opinion, you exalted him too much. Max Ostro is very good at legato but nothing more. I didn't feel any emotion transmitted. Just an ordinary guitar player very good at legato and fluidity but very similar to Tom Quayle albeit at a lower level than Tom..

What I love with the develpment of Shredding over the years/decades is, that today a standard is reached, where it´s embedded in melodic concepts and it breathes. You don´t have to listen to a deafening load of notes but to a flow with distinct articulation.
The first time I heard such a playstyle was Shawn Lane with Jonas Hellborg and Jeff Sipe. Pure beauty and... yes, empathy and love in his constant flows of conscious. Max here reminds me of that. He is navigating so effortlessly through the chords/keys like it is his natural form of expression - no need to add words (loving the backing track too!).
btw... he doesn´t have a whammy bar and creates the effect only with the tone controllers. Are they modified to bending notes? Just curious.

" and you will realize that Max lives, breaths music and his guitar, he doesn't make time for anything other than his guitar, he deserves to be where he his, he definitely deserves his own signature model, and whom ever he chooses, people will flock to him and his guitar.
I would recommend Stratele to review Matteo Mancuso, he is also within the same vein of Max Ostro, Imagine a dual or collaboration with both of them would legit break the internet and guitar community.

He’s probably checking it to make sure he hasn’t accidentally turned them while messing with the little silver switch in between. As far as the pickup selector, it seems Max likes to use it for the percussive sound it gives when you click it as much as for tonal reasons. If you watch “when luck failed”, you will see a great example of this. You will notice he’s clicking it back in forth in time with the music and not playing another note until he’s back on the original pickup. Pretty interesting stuff. Does anyone know what the little silver switch is? Does it split the humbuckers into singles or something? I’ve heard terms like “outta phase” but don’t really know exactly what that means. lol I’m guessing it does something to those pickups. 🤷🏻‍♂️
