Great video. I asked ICECO to creat a comparison between all of their models and the pros and cons of each, but they never have. Your video fills a great need. Also, thank you for listing the compressor used by each. I have wondered this for a while. ICECO has a ton of very different models. I wish they made a 45L unit with dual zones.

I bought the JP40 for my 15’ teardrop. Perfect fit between the door and seat. I love it. I don’t use the cover. I was concerned the cover would block airflow on the side near the wall, and get in the way of closing the lid.
I turned the worthless 3 way built in absorption fridge into a pantry.
The JP40 is a great size! I'm glad you found something that would fit so well! I haven't done much testing with the cover installed yet.

As usual, great, great video and informative. I'm in the process of buying the top of the line used by the RV industry but watching this video, I now have to re-think my decision. The main reason for going with the more expensive product was its efficiency ratings and power consumption as I plan on using it only when I go camping with a "solar generator". If I do change my mind I am looking at the VL series. Wow, great video and I dislike that I am second guessing my decision .
Either option will work well. You'll save a little bit of money going with ICECO. I have had excellent reliability with these fridges so far!
Great video, You should check the lid warping on the vlpro i had bought one when the cooler reached 35 and it was around 80 on a sunny day the lid warped like a banana ,returned the second one did the same thing I ended up going with the older Vl it works great, i do have to say there customer service was really great
Interesting! I hadnt thought of why that may have been happening when some people mentioned lid issues on their VLpro fridges. I keep mine in the shade as much as possible so I haven't seen that issue on mine. Time will tell I guess. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks Willy! When I bought the JP30 I was surprised there wasn't any tax as well haha! As for the VL60pro I've only had a couple people mention the seal issue so I hope it's not a widespread problem. It's quite the fridge! The power consumption is so close between the two it's hard to know why they are slightly different. They both perform very well.

Good video, very informative. I picked up a VL45PRO S in June and it’s been solid. Only minor issue is that the lid gaskets on the VLPRO series seems to be too thin allowing for bit too much play and frosting. Seems ICECO is aware and working on an update to lids available in November.
I love my VL60Pro! I'm sure the VL45Pros is an excellent model and uses even less power!

@@bretthumberstone8148 Just got new lid. Visually I couldn’t really make out much of a difference. However, I think the foam gasket either feels thicker or maybe the channel it sits is is shallower. In either case the play side to side is much less and there is now zero play up and down once you shut lid.
Curious on how much heat the smaller ones produce and would they significantly heat up the cab of a truck? Great video by the way. Very professional.
These use around 30 watts of power so they put off minimal heat, nothing that you'd notice since the sun is WAY more powerful warming up your truck.
They all have somewhat different features to distinguish them from each other and appeal to certain use cases.
What they have in common, that 500 watt battery will last about 19 hours at 85° ambient temperature.
Thinner, thicker, lighter, heavier, smaller, bigger, they all perform the same.
This means we have two winners.
- lowest price, actual
- largest capacity
My conclusion : buy the biggest one you can afford and fit, then spend extra money on batteries.

Great video. Love the power rating section of each that says what to expect at 70 and 85 degrees. Big fan of iceco(especially the ones with built in inverters), but would also like to see you do similar reviews of dual zone offerings from bougerv and other companies in the 35 to 60 liter offerings.

Hey Mandy! Glad you found the video helpful. I'd go with the standard VL series fridges if I was going to keep it in my garage during high temps (VL45 or a different size). Those models are the most insulated so you'll get the best. I have a great power station comparison video, check that out on my channel, it has the EB70, EB55, and Bibene power stations compared head to head. I also have many other solar panel videos and each have recommendations of ones that work great.

Probably due to the national inflation levels. You can probably still find them for a lower price during a holiday sale, just gotta keep an eye out for the deals.

I have the JP40 and love it! I however lost some of the screws to install the handles do you happen to know what size and thread pitch those are?
I no longer have my JP30 so I can't verify the size of screws. They are definitely metric and I'd recommend going to Ace Hardware (or similar hardware store) and just buying a few different sizes to see what fits. You can probably just bring in the fridge into the store and see what fits.
Great review! However, I wish I could still by that Iceco that was Indegogo earlier this year. It was a great price since it had a cheap compressor. It looked like a JPC42.

From my understanding you can still buy it for the discounted price. It comes with the Secop BD50F compressor so not an off brand one. Almost two years ago they had the JPC42 on Indiegogo with an off brand compressor but the current JPC42 comes with the secop compressor.
@@Jasonoid Thanks anyway, but that model is $559, too expensive for my budget. Did a little research and the prior Indiegogo model was a 45L called the "iCooler". It was $300.
@@ladweeb1798 yeah, the iCooler on the Kickstarter is the current jpc42 which I have featured in this video....but it's no longer available at the crowdfunding price. That was an excellent deal!
regarding the pro model the biggest negative is the lid specifically the seal its just not as good and efficient to that of the 60VL... and I found out the the difference the hard way, other than that the Pro model offers power connect on either side and a drain plug which is advantageous... great vid
So regarding that VL pro lid gasket design, there might be a few models that are different or that have had issues. I know a couple people have commented on my videos in the past about the lid not sealing perfectly but in my case I haven't had that issue with mine. The standard VL SERIES definitely has a better seal around the lid.

Just a comment regarding the SECOP compressor. My 6 year old 40 liter Indel B of similar build to the JP30 and it has been jugging along for half a decade with no hiccups.
If I had to buy a replacement, the VL45 would get my vote. Once the fridge is secured within the vehicle for a road trip, I rarely have need to remove it.
As always, another great video - which I'll assume was not easy to do, because the number of options covered.

Great video and very informative! 👍🏾I hv the Go20 for 2yr & I use it freezer strictly. Do u know if using the freezer only that the condensation is normal at the top on the sides? My all around recommendation is with any of 20 quartz size & higher, iCeco should hv wheel abilities for ease of portability because everyone load food & drink inside for their go trip right? I hv to put my Go20 into my car first then load all my food & drinks in the fridge.
Condensation is normal in humid climates, these portable fridges also don't have defrost control so you have to clean it out every now and then. They have wheels in their newer models and are launching a brand new 60 qt model next month with wheels.

Another great video Sir. I need your recommendation as I'm wanting a 45 qt unit and am looking at the VL45 & VL45Pro. Q1) I've seen comments by others elsewhere regarding fit an closure problems with the Pro lids. Your thoughts? Q2) How much less efficient is the Pro since the lid is not as well insulated as the standard VL. Currently I'm planning to purchase a Bluetti EB70 to run this off of in my 5TH-GEN-4RUNNER for two or three day weekend trips
Stick with the standard VL45, excellent performance, better lid design for durability and efficiency, it even has, cheaper price than the pro. These VL series are built like a tanks.

I haven't had issues with my vl60pro lid warping but I wouldn't want you to have issues down the road. Apparently when it's super hot and in direct sunlight it they can warp. Just stick with the VL45 and make sure you save the 12% with my code!
I have the JP50 for my travel trailer i like it but i think its a little small for camping anymore than 3 days while running other things, i run it off a Bluetti AC200 which i am looking at getting a extension battery for so i can run the frig longer.
The JP50 is a great fridge, it does have a little wasted space with the divider. I feel you get a little more space from the chest style fridges. The Bluetti AC200 should get you a great runtime on that fridge, that battery is HUGE haha. Do you have solar charging to supplement the fridge power usage?
@@Jasonoid No but might consider it for future use, we mostly just camp on the weekends the Bluetti gets us thru 3.5 days
I'm guessing a gallon is the same height of a half gallon. Could a half gallon be leaned on the side,tilted? Maybe a carton is shorter. If I seriously need milk there is a smaller container or put the milk in a smaller container. I like half and half and that would fit.

Your testing method using an ac adapter probably has 10-15% in losses due to the AC to DC conversion? Likely would see additional run time if powered from DC solar generator or battery box. Very informative video, I went with one of the Setpowers you reviewed.
Correct! You could see a little more efficiency by using DC power instead. Both setpower fridges I reviewed are excellent choices!
My setpower RV60D freezer side compressor died in 2 months… setpower wont replace or fix because I received as a gift and have no order#. The person who gifted me setpower RV60D passed away . And setpower wont do anything to help! Fyi
Been watching your videos and I like everything about the Iceco. But I’m not a hard-core camper maybe camp three times a year but with a Boy Scout troop I’m taking 20+ people so I refrigerator cooler is an idea I do have the blue yeti SB 50 with 120 W of solar is there an economical brand style that you recommend

sooo how did you get iceco to give you a go20 with eco mode? :P i think the go12 has an eco mode but the go20 doesn't. It's snowflake button when pressed activates "left-bin fast speed cooling" -> "the left-bin will [start] cooling for 15mins while the right-bin doesn’t work during this period". Thanks for performing the tests. Its very interesting how power consumption doubles when outside temp raises only 10°F]\
So the go20 differs from the other models, from my understanding the blue snowflake setting is basically a boost mode to allow it to cool down faster. I always have it disabled and haven't needed the extra power. I may be wrong I haven't read the owners manual for awhile. I probably should have explained how it differs in the video. My bad.
@@Jasonoid I believe what you are describing is the snowflake button on the go12. the go20 is funky in that it does not actively cool both bins simultaneously. It will start cooling the right-bin first. After 10-15 min it will switch to the left bin. The first I tested it, my stomach dropped thinking it was broken.
Hi, Thanks so much for this...How does the JP30 compare to a Alpicool C20? I'm just using it for myself with a week long trip, stopping along the way. I don't need to fit a week's worth of food in there, just about 3 days worth, for just me (don't eat much, but usually all needs to be refrigerated as I don't eat a lot of junk). Will be powering with your recommended Bluetti EB70. Thanks!

Hmmm the link works for me.... Another way to view it would be going into my channel main page and look through my 'Fridge review playlist' to see the video. It's call the "iMarsC20 Fridge Review". Rebranded means Alpicool makes the fridge and then allows others to slap a different brand sticker on it. The Alpicool C20 is the SAME fridge as the iMarsC20 haha.

We are looking at dual zone fridges for our travels. I have specifically been checking out the VL60 or VL65 dual zones. It seems like there is no real difference in the models other that size and cost. Is that correct?
Correct, they are all very efficient and the bigger they get the more power they use. Dual temp mode will use more power than single temp mode.
@@Jasonoid is it safe to assume if we happen to only use one of the zone on a trip it could significantly lower the draw as well?
@@cjarloz You could use both zones, just have the temps set at the same level, that makes it use less power. So setting both to 37F would work well. The added power draw comes from having to keep the one area cooler and the compressor runs more oftern.

Do any of these fridges use LiFePO4? Saw your video where the fridge battery exploded and want to avoid that
None of these have internal batteries, no explosion risk haha

@@MyChannel-vm6dw most fridges do not have internal batteries. I'm not sure there are any lifepo4 fridges on the market yet, just lithium Ion NMC models. I recommend just using a 12v LFP battery or power station to run the fridges.
Is there a difference between vl60 pro and vl60 pro s or is that one and the same?
The vl60pro is the same as the vl60pros. The S means it's a single zone, not a dual zone. The dual zone VL series is much larger.
It's hard to gauge the size of each fridge with you always standing behind it. It gives the illusion of looking much bigger than they actually are. I would suggest walking around it and also including something of known reference size nearby to help viewers estimate its actual size. Like, momentarily place a basketball nearby or something similar. The 1 gallon milk jug inside is a good reference as you demonstrated.
I agree, the fisheye lens on most cameras tend to distort the actual size, definitely true with my setup. The dimensions are on the website for each model for reference so that might help as well.

What kind of electrical set up is needed to run the VL60 in a vehicle reliably 24/7 ?
You'll want a two lead acid battery setup in your vehicle or you'd want a portable power station. I never suggest running the fridge off your starter battery alone.
Check out the Bluetti EB55 and EB70 power stations. I have a few reviews on my channel for those models. They charge well off solar panels and the 12v output from your car.

@@RicoZaid_ yep, there are 3 screws above the power panel, and 3 screws underneath and then the power panel metal plate comes right off. I have removed mine 2 or 3 times. Just be careful to not tip the fridge over on its side, it's best to have it on a table and the have part of it hanging off and work from underneath (a second person holding the fridge sure helps). Once the panel is off you'll see the fan and 4 screws that hold it in. Just swap it out. Plug in the fridge when the panel is off to see if the noise went away, maybe you have a pine needle in there or something.

not clear re numbers: example 38watts eco mode but 11 watts average? not sure what this means
Set the fridge to ECO mode, it pulls 38 watts when the compressor is running. However, the compressor doesn't run all the time, it only runs a 3rd of the time. The rest of the time it pulls 0 watts. So on average it pulls 11 watts since the compressor doesn't run all the time. Hope that helps you understand the power consumption.

A 45 liter size fridge will usually fit 2 to 3 day days worth of cold food. Since you have Nissan Rouge you might have limited space in the back so the ICECO JP40 is taller and more narrow. If you think you can fit the VL45, which is a couple inches wider, you'll get awesome results with that fridge! I prefer 'chest style' fridges. ICECO just launched a JP40pro I think you would like as well. Video can be found here:

@@Jasonoid Excellent advice. The vl45 sounds perfect but being >18" tall it doesn't fit in rear load area under the load space cover for my vehicles, even LR LR3. 17.5" tall seems to be a critical max height. Tried to buy a jp 40 but out of stock north of the border..
@@pwatom22 You can always go with a smaller fridge with those shorter trips. The JP30 probably would still work well if it's just you.
@@Jasonoid The interior height of the JP 40 is 14" so allows wine bottles whereas JP 30 is only 11" so cannot stand wine bottles up. The setpower RV 45D looks a great option too but looks like compressor not quite as good and I saw the comments about issues with temp delta on the dual zone? I'm hoping to run for 15hrs or so off of starter battery. For that the VL45 would seem to be the best option. As is always the case you can rarely get exactly what you want. May be the RV45D would be ok?
@@pwatom22 the RV45d is a great fridge, the compressor also has a 3 year warranty and it pretty efficient. I just took my RV60d on a trip and it performed well. However, running it 15 hours of your starter battery might be pretty difficult especially if it's hot. Just watch the voltage so you don't kill your battery. I always recommend a second power source.
No comments about the strength of the hinges? Several models looked weak and the dual opening model looks like it could fail within weeks.
If I had problems with the hinges I would have mentioned it in the video. The hinges are just as strong as other models on the market and I don't see an issue with them.

Next time consider measuring dB levels. This is important for people who sleep inside their vans and RVs and have to hear it cycling throughout the night.

@@Jasonoid dB measurements can be tricky depending on the instrument used to measure, position of the instrument with respect to the cooler, orientation of cooler with respect to instrument (i.e. which side the compressor and its vents are on etc), ambient environment (and sound reflectivity off walls, floors etc). So be sure to take those factors into account when measuring. And besides dB levels, which many ordinary people have trouble understanding what that really means - include a qualitative assessment where each cooler is placed into a van configured for someone to sleep in (which usually includes sound deadening materials including bedding, carpet, seats etc). Lay down on the bed with the cooler placed in a logical location (which may be under or at the foot of the bed) and let the fridge cycle on and off and ask yourself - _"Could I sleep in here with this thing running?"_ Your honest assessment of that criteria for many people who are buying 12V fridges is critical.

if only there was a unit that can fit on a seat in a truck. that can be strapped down (and still have access to the contents), with (metal latches) latched down lid. NO magnets NO "snap" locks, etc. for safety reasons. do not need stuff bouncing around. or flying around in a accident.

Hey, I didn't say you can't get around the downsides of each fridge, I'm pretty sure in my GO20 fridge review video I said to lay the milk jug on the side. When the video breaks 30 minutes, I just leave out lots of little details, this is a brief overview of each model.

How humid is your environment? Are you using it as a freezer? I'm guessing any moisture in the air is going to freeze around the lid. This would be the case for any of these freezers.
I live in a desert so I don't see any issues with condensation, no humidity here.
Where are the ICECO products made? Are any of the models NOT made in China? I avoid purchasing products made in China.
You wont find any 12v fridge made outside of China... even ARB, Dometic are made in China unfortunately 😕
