Janette, Kudos to you and bless you for this video. I just bought this machine and I found the grinding/stalling of the foot pedal so annoying. I spoke to a customer service rep from the store. He had no advice so ordered a new pedal for me from Brother. The new pedal arrived and did the same thing. So next I contacted customer support from Brother. Six emails back and forth and their only suggestion was that I bring the machine in for service. And then tonight while watching one of your videos, which are so very helpful and which I love, this one came up in the feed. I couldn't believe my good fortune! Thank you for all the tips, the teaching, the positive spirit and taking the time to share your knowledge.
@@jeanetteweger5518 Yes! I rewatched the video, got the vasoline and went to work. I can't tell you how happy that made me. All of your videos have been remarkable and so helpful, but this one, really, really, was the winner. Thanks again
@@sherryazaria492 I’m so glad it did the trick, too bad you had to buy another fit but luckily you won’t have a service fee now. And I can almost bet if you had taken it in they would not have been honest or even considered the foot as the issue. They would have jacked up the service fee to something else. This machine is basically service free and honestly, most repair shops don’t work on coverstitch machines. If you have any future issues feel free to PM me.
This is the best tutorial about opening the pedal I've seen! I'd like the detailed tutorial about oiling too! I only oil the needle bar and presser foot bar but 'moving parts inside' I'd like to see explained :)
Hi Jeanne, thank you so much for your videos. They are so helpful because I am a newbie with the brother 2340. Can you do a video about attaching the elastic with a cover stitch. That would help me so much. Thank you so much.
Hi! Can you do a video on how to add your clothing tag to your item? I have fold in tags & im lost on how to do it now that I have a Coverstitch machine.
No I haven't done one but I generally put 1 drop of clear sewing machine oil and I oil the areas that move inside the looper door and a drop of oil on the shaft for the needles. I know the manual never mentioned pulling but I do.

Thank you! Didn't ever notice there was a problem. Mine wants to hum a bit before it decides to move.
I have 2 brother 2340 and one hummed before it would start too but after I lubed it, it runs alot better. Lubricants tend to dry out too .

Hi! Can you do a video on how to add your clothing tag to your item? I have fold in tags & im lost on how to do it now that I have a Coverstitch machine.
You normally serge the tag in.
@@jeanetteweger5518 when I serge it in, it makes the seam go the opposite way & I dont like that. I guess I will just figure it out. Thanks.
@@tarynstewart2817 when you serge it in is it facing up toward you?
I normally don’t serge labels in the neck area, I sew them on a side seam near the hem because so many hate labels on their necks.
Do you have a video on oiling the machine?
