What a truly heart wrenching moment. For me, the little growth seemed like an allegory for an unwanted child. At first he wanted to get rid of it, but later accepted, and came to love it. Caring for it brought meaning to the man's life, and made him try harder to keep a good house. Having that light ripped away, it's a horrible thing.
I watched this several years ago, as a little kid, and I didnt quite understand the meaning, I found it disturbing but also I felt quite sad watching it... and now, when Im a few years older I finally can understand it, but the elements that disturb me and sadden me, remain. Still cried after all the years :'(

This short film was full of symbolism. It featured a depiction of the inner child , who lived with the man for one year. Although the audience experienced that year with him, the inner child was always present within him. Just like the two eyes painted underneath, representing his childishness. The birthday cake and its childish shape vividly reflected the presence of the inner child. The message of the work is undoubtedly that we should befriend and embrace our inner child in order to find happiness and enjoy life and music.
What beyond my imagination is that how this outer child was able to keep up fair living conditions, by staying home and only having fun for a year. That would be my dream vacation, haha. Back to reality... I should wörk already...

Ahora tengo otra perspectiva, y es que este señor al principio de vídeo se encuentra con una depresión moderada. Más adelante podemos ver qué aparecen síntomas de una psicosis: alucinaciones y probablemente delirio. Estos son rasgos típicos de una depresión mayor o severa. El señor no se curo aún...necesita psicoterapia y un tratamiento para su depresión.

There’s no wrong way to understand or perceive future shorts videos. That is what I really love about their channel. I’ve seen different interpretations of this. Some people see it as a story about depression or relationships. For me, this video symbolizes LONELINESS. The man was very lonely and bored and spent all his days in his home, day after day. He was depressed, empty and desperately needed someone... Anyone. So he became so mentally ill that he started to make up his own imaginary “friend” out of his little pimple. It even had emotions, expressions, character and personality so it seemed like it was a real person. His life finally started. He was happy about something that wasn’t real. He started to trick himself into believing that he had a friend that he didn’t have. He even took his time to decorate his entire house and celebrated a birthday party for his “friend”. His entire world changed. The last part especially hurt me. When he lost his little bulb, he was broken but, not because he lost a loved one, but because he was lonely again. Because he could become happy very easily again, just by simply drawing a new face on his armpit. He wasn’t lonely anymore but he still had no love and his imagination was the only answer to his made up happiness. I can imagine him walking around with his NEW imaginary friend in his imaginary world for the rest of his life because This man just needed someone. anyone. I love that even though we all watch the exact same video, we all look at it in different ways. Very good job Future shorts👏❤️

De aislada soledad y el desarraigo social, en una sobriedad personal es encubado un pequeño ser representado como yo o prototipo de uno. En este desenlace de vida donde se mimetizan las situaciones con los tiempos, se empatiza una soledad con el mismo producto de la propia indiferencia. La cual es saciada con con la multiplicidad de los sistemas de interacción.
Aunque termina siendo poco para abastecer todo ese vacío semi comprendido.
Puede que alimentar aquello de uno cause alivios, pero es empujado hacia un exterior replicando la soledad en otros sistemas por el soplo de esos mágicos sueños.
Momento en el que uno se ve frente a si herido y sin poder reaccionar ya que fue a mea voluntad, la seguridad de un sistema cerrado que podes controlar es lecho de la muerte a paso lento.
Mientras aquello que está ahí afuera es lo desconocido y uno es el desconocido de aquella ventana que se consume como una colilla de cigarro.
La soledad vuelve a poseer.
Una autocracia personal que deja heridas, recuerdos y cicatrices; Un vestigio de felicidad que nos toca de ves en cuando.
