I went to downtown Los Angeles to find out the newest update about the three abandoned buildings that were tagged by graffiti artists when I showed up I saw lots of police cars and officers over 50 officers and the swat team were searching inside the abandoned building for people that were hiding inside a couple arrests were made. They also installed a brand new fence around the buildings to secure them. Every corner has lots of police officers watching the building.

If they stopped building it is most likely ran out of money and went out of business so where does the money come from. Mike, to answer your question about art, art is a personal expression of one’s outlook on life in one form or another. I looked up the history definition about graffiti and tagging and it brought out that it started in the 1960s in Philadelphia and then trickled its way to New York then onward after that, now I know when I was living in California and in other places gang members will tag certain buildings to inform and warn other gangs to let them know who’s territory that is, and not to sell their dope or whatever they’re peddling in their turf, sort of speak, and that was my initial understanding when it came down to it. But nothing is worth the price to get up on a high rise building ledge, and spray paint whatever thoughts they may have at that time on the windows it’s just not worth it. I appreciate the artistry in the tags but I understand also too there has to be limits set on such things. I believe in a way that this is just one way that a adolescent minded individuals will expressed themselves and how situations may seem so desperate at this point, particular this time in life but it is what it is and I appreciate you sharing this. Thank you so much Mike you take care and be safe. 🫶🏻🤠

Cities spend millions cleaning up graffiti. My personal opinion is they can take their art and display it in a more constructive manner. Many graffiti artists turned to beautification with murals. I think these artists can do better than vandalizing buildings that don’t belong to them.

Mike I love you’re channel and content but the difference between you and I is I absolutely despise graffiti on private or public property . I feel those “artists” that deface those entities should be reprimanded. I was raised to never mess with other peoples property. But hey this is America and we can all have an opinion. Regardless I watch your content because you are always ahead of the crappy media on tv. Well done Mike. Thanks for the video. Choo Sing (sp?)

There was a police chase that started in Whittier i believe, about 2 or 3 weeks ago that resulted in a huge car accident and a police car accidentally crashed into an elderly pedestrian (might've been a driver, i cant remember) and at 1 point the driver threw his dog out of the car. Lucky for the dog because the car wreck was right after that. I bring it up because the reason he was being chased was because the cops saw him spraying paint and decided it was a good idea to chase him and put drivers, officers and pedestrians lives at risk over some paint on a building.

It's suppose to be a mixed use building. It was suppose to have a nice luxury hotel, apartments, retail space, social spaces, a park area, and huge an LED screen wrapped all around the building tieing it all together but it's been abandoned since before the pandemic I believe. It's unfortunate cuz something like this could really help reviltalize Downtown and LA Live

Thank you so much GIV for all of your insights, however, to anyone reading this. This is NOT graffiti, and definitely not art work. This is disgusting vandalism. When you destroy or harm the possessions of others, without their permission, then you have criminals who have no consideration for destroying the property of others. Everyone caught doing this vandalism should be required to remove it - or long term jail sentences. I can't believe how far down California has gone. Go back to the 6th street bridge. This is (was) an object of beauty and accomplishment - now it's just a piece of trash due to vandalism.

GIV! Excellent reporting and video! I have not seen any news media outlets reporting on this activity. The tagging makes me think of the prehistoric paintings in ancient caves. I am sure some folks would say there is no comparison to be made. Granted, spray paint did not exist in prehistoric times but the prehistoric people did paint on cave walls! Art is a form of expression and can tell a story. Just saying .....
