  • Dr Andrew Orr speaks to his good friend, and colleague Dr Philip Hall about all things endometriosis, as part of endometriosis awareness month 2021.
    Dr Andrew Orr and Dr Philip Hall have worked together for many years, and have a symbiotic relationship to assist women with a multimodality approach for Fertility and Women's Health issues such as endometriosis.
    In this interview Dr Andrew Orr asks Dr Philip Hall about his medical, and surgical view on what women face with endometriosis, and we here about many of the things that often do not get talked about by surgeons in this field. Dr Hall and Dr Orr also talk about the emotional aspects of suffering from endometriosis, and also how this impacts those that are failing to get a diagnosis too.
    Dr Hall also briefly talks about treating some of the transgender community who may also have endometriosis.

    About Dr Philip Hall.
    Dr Philip Hall is a gynaecologist and an advanced trained surgeon, with 30 years of private and public specialist practice in endometriosis, pelvic pain, prolapse and incontinence surgery.
    While embracing new techniques, Dr Hall has been at the forefront of specialised and innovative treatments across a wide range of conditions involving the pelvis. He uses Botox, neuromodulation and minimally invasive techniques under local anaesthetic and regional nerve blocks in the management of endometriosis, pelvic pain, prolapse and urinary incontinence.
    Dr Hall trained at Monash University and holds multiple Fellowships with various medical colleges and travels extensively throughout Australia teaching surgical skills to other Specialists and supervising their training in new techniques.
    Dr Hall is a member of numerous international associations involved with the management of urinary incontinence and is currently the Director of the St Andrew’s Pelvic Medicine Centre.
    Dr Hall completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Monash University under the tutelage of Professor Carl Wood, Australia’s world-leading IVF pioneer. He completed additional training in the UK.
    Dr Hall values continuing professional education and complemented his extensive clinical experience by completing a Master of Reproductive Medicine (MRM) at the University of NSW. He also holds a postgraduate degree in infertility and reproductive endocrinology.
    After returning to Australia in 1984, Dr Hall established a fertility practice in rural Victoria in association with Professor Wood. This practice offered fertility management for patients throughout central and western Victoria for the next decade.
    As well as working in reproductive medicine, Dr Hall offers his extensive experience in the treatment of polycystic ovaries, endometriosis and premature menopause. His clinical expertise is complemented by his skills as an advanced trained laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeon.
    Dr Hall is able to offer treatments for the management of endometriosis, adenomyosis, pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, including prolapse and incontinence.
