    Linen is like the filet mignon of summer fabrics. You just can't beat the feel and look of linen whether it be shorts or shirts. It is the ultimate in resort style mens fashion. Great video brother.

    Hey John. Great timing - I literally just yesterday ordered two button up linen shirts from John Henric. Love the look of linen for warm/hot weather and because of linen’s “breathability” wearing long sleeve shirts with sleeves rolled up is an option; and I prefer that look.
    Anyway, you’re the one that introduced me to John Henric, so thanks so much for that!

    One of my favorite shirts that I've ever owned was a linen Henley shirt that I bought at the Gentlemen's Quarters in LaJolla. I also bought a blue/grey solid dress shirt and matching tie for an interview that I was going to have up in Beverly Hills. My clothes felt great. I also loved the service that I received at GQ, down to the snifter of cognac. Too bad they're gone now.

      @@40OverFashion They were on Prospect, right next door to the Chart house (which is gone, too). I still fondly remember frequenting both places. I loved Charthouse's grilled shark served on a wooden plank, Long Island Iced Teas, SourDough and dark Indian Bread and sky high Mud Pie. And their Sunday brunches were amazing!!

    Linen shirts take some patience but overall they are definitely very classy. Next year I'm looking to actually get a few linen sweaters in order to have some more variety but getting a pair of them in pants might take awhile. For now I have a few Drawstring Seersucker pants that I don't mind wearing out once in awhile for super casual situations. Fantastic content as always!

    Other than polo shirts I am always wearing linen in hot/moderate weather (I live in Texas 🥵) button down shirts like the one your wearing in this video but I also like long sleeve guayaberas for vacation or if I want to be a little more formal, wear them with seersucker dress pants or light weight cotton/linen blend and a straw hat fedora with Nisolo huaraches and I get compliments ALOT, very regal casual as I call it. Anyways I hope you have a great day John, I will check out Henric.

    This is very timely. I've been rebuilding my wardrobe after losing significant weight. Since I live on the Gulf Coast, linen is a great option much of the time (occasionally even in January). I've managed to find one linen shirt in my thinner size that fits well, and I'm waiting for the seller to get additional colors that I like back in stock. I own three pairs of linen shorts, which I expect to live in (around the house) until mid-autumn. I also recently purchased a linen/cotton lightweight unstructured jacket.
    On a related note, were the khakis made of linen? They looked more like cotton chinos (to my untrained eye).

    • @40OverFashion
      @40OverFashion  3 года назад +1

      Yes! The chinos are standard cotton with stretch!

    Prior to COVID closing down shops in Melbourne Australia I bought two linen jackets, one of them being BOSS. While as expected the linen fabric was made in China, one of the sports coats was made in Germany and the other in Turkey from these premium grade materials. While the after effect of contracting COVID 19 is that I have not been able to visit the CBD shops. But it seemed to me that linen was on the cusp of a major fashion revival.
    While I am very fussy about my appearance, with sharp creases in my trousers I think that the always rumpled look of linen provides a superb contrast
    As usual, I totally enjoyed the content because it was so fresh. Phil.

    Hi John. All I can say with a degree of certainty is that linen pants and big or muscular thighs are a bad combo. It's not that the pants look bad on someone with that build it's just that the looser weave combined with the friction makes the pants wear out quicker than they should. The blue zip polo was boss btw. Peace. : )

    Thanks for the linen education, John. In your looks you wore all of your button down shirts tucked in. Is this because the brand’s shirts are all very long and would need to be hemmed for you to wear them untucked?

    Can’t stand linen. It’s scratchy and wrinkles too easily. There are modern synthetic fabrics that are far more cooling, comfortable, and wrinkle-resistant.
