Colonial mentality among philippine society is counter progressive. It’s the same play that were common during Spanish and American colonization, except we are doing it to ourselves, rooted from attitude and belief of the colonial past now exalted by media. For example, how come a new planned city is being named after an american ‘New Clark City’ ? It should honor a noble Filipino or the original name of that region so that it will enrich our identity and accomplishments.

Philippinos shall stop that submissive behaviour. "Sir", "Madame" "sorry" ... all to much and to often. Clear direct communication, honest demands and straight needs defined and exchanged... that would help may be and make things easier...that is what I think is polite. ahhh and stop to try to immitate americans. Anafe Camingue that submissive behavior is part of the “SLAVE” and “PACIFICATION” Mentalities left out by the Spanish. Yes, that was the system the Spanish set up was the way how to respect but meaning to be submissive.
on the lipovitan vs energy booster. they should have the same volume. of course everyone chose lipovitan because its more bang for your buck. On the movies, most Philippine mainstream movies nowadays are mediocre thats why we prefer international films. overall its a good documentary. Love from Canada
I got to watch this for I needed to. I am fortunate enough there are videos for this topic. I appreciate the effort of conducting this study (even if it is obviously for their studies). However, there are vital factors that contribute to the conclusion that its credibility is questionable. This includes the way they identified their respondents - the foreigner (I think) in the food and beverages part. Why would they ask someone who’s not Filipino if the study is about/for us? Next is their sources in gathering secondhand data. I noticed that their source for the films was WIKIPEDIA, which we all and should know that it’s not that reliable. This is just my opinion as a student like the researchers. Still, thank you.
Living in USA, we have adopted many foreign food, technology, fashion, art, etc. Culture exchange is acceptable through the market. Fireworks is Chinese but used in US 4th of July celebration. Made in Japan is considered good product like PlayStation and all those Japanese games. At the end of the day, you buy products or use services that fits you. If rice farmer can afford to buy a machine that can plant and harvest rice, it doesn't matter who makes it. What matters is his farm work is easier.
Americans adopted foreign food, technology, fashion, art, etc. due to immigrants. This cultural exchange is good because people can try different foods without leaving the country. However, the Philippines has colonial mentality which is when its people prefer foreign movies to their local movies. When Filipinos don't embrace their culture and abandon it for a more Westernized culture, it's bad. The Filipino standard of beauty is HEAVILY Westernized due to about 400 years of colonialism from the Spaniards and Americans. Yes, Filipinos should embrace foreign media and food, but they should also embrace their local culture. They shouldn't look down on dark skin (prominent feature of colonial mentality) nor try to marry a foreigner (especially if they are white) so that their children can look mestiza/mestizo. Please don't diminish the effects of colonial mentality. It's a serious problem in colonized countries and not just the Philippines. Thank you.
Hana Gabrielle Bidon When it comes to foreign films like US or Korean, credit the writers. Filipinos writers have to step it up. As to marriage to foreigners, it is all about economics. Marry US national because of dollar. You telling if black or a US Filipino like myself would be rejected from Filipino girls??? How many girls would marry broke white guy over average wage earner US Filipino like myself?
Hana Gabrielle Bidon What exactly is Filipino culture that hasn't been influenced by foreigners? Chinese and Malaysia influence Filipinos long before Magellan. As to white is better than dark skin, US women would lay on beach barely anything on and no sun screen just so she can get her skin tanned or pay tanning salon for that brown skin. That white vs brown is more city vs province, upper class vs poor. Philippines industry can hold its own and go beyond Philippines. Look Jollibee and Chowking. Philippines products need better marketing. If product equal or better than foreign product, price it competitively.
Bryan Rabilas In the Philippines hardly poor desperate women are aware there are single Filipino men living in America that are well off. They probably know they're not good enough for these men or that she could fool a white old fat guy visiting much easier into goldigging.
Bryan Rabilas Jolibee and Chowking?? You're only simplifying our culture into one made by Manila? Have you been all over the country where there are more various dishes? I've asked people who've visited Philippines in Australia and they're honest to say that Philippine cuisine tries too hard to be Western and asked me what authentic dishes we even have. I told him there are more unique and exotic dishes around especially if one goes to Mindanao but many especially in the North Philippines don't even promote this due to mostly having a dim view perhaps on them. You seem quite unaware on why when people visit "Asia" there are many more who go to places like Japan, Thailand, S.Korea, Hong Kong, Bali (Indonesia), Vietnam, even Malaysia than Philippines. It's cause there's still something unique in their cultures that the West do not have. There was one American who even commented in another video who was irritated of Filipinos too much trying to be American and wondered where the native culture is.
... and give up on that extreme catholicism. You are also not spanish. Your asian religion is buddism and hinduism. Accept you are asian. Not americans, not spanish. You are asians and your are pretty!
Reading the comments prives colonial mentality and whiteworship is still alive and kicking.
