I watched every match Iga played last year online. Sometimes I had to get up in the middle of the night to watch her play. When she played in the finals in Mexico, she had the lowest first serve percentage (for the year) of all 8 gals who were in the finals. The first serve percentage (% of first serves that go in) has been a big problem for her. Sometimes it drops below 50%. In addition, many of the top 10 players have a serve that is a serious weapon.....not just as far as aces but also the number of serves that are unreturnable (the other player can get a racket on it, but still can't get it back in court). Barty recently hit 17 aces against Kenin and many more unreturnable serves. Kenin was actually playing well, but she had no chance with Barty serving so well. Iga's first serve is OK, but not much of a weapon. She doesn't hit many aces or unreturnable serves. Her serve more often looks like it is just what she does to get the ball in play. Until she can transform her serve into a bigger weapon, I think she will have trouble beating the very best players like Barty and Osaka. I say this as a huge fan. I would say the same is true for Kontaveit as well. Both have tremendous talent, but need a better serve.

Most of her returns are very high (in general she play high balls) and when she play w players that hit hard she have no chances other than the placement. Maybe that is the reason why she do so well in Rolland Garros and no that good in hard courts.
