I always love any bracelet you make, its just unbelievable how many beautiful things you can create every day, because each piece is so detailed and not easy things to make. You always amaze me,its funny I just asked lyn if she knew of you and she said she had just talked to you,i love both of your creations and you always keep me inspired
Thank you very much :))) LynzCraftz creations are fabulous :)) I love how professional her pieces look; she has wonderful ideas and they come to life just perfectly :)
Thank you so much!!! I bet that if you make a video with something steampunky even more people will fall in love with this style, since you explain everything so well :D
Charlie, about your pieces breaking, I used to have the same problem, but one of the clay channels I subscribe to, I believe it's called PolymerClayTutor, came out with a video about baking times, and it completely changed my world. What I learned was how crucial baking times are to the strength if your creations. This is huge when making an entire piece of jewellery from clay. Try making a few test pieces, stamp them each with how LNG you'll be baking it for, one 30 min, one 40 min, one 50 min, and the last 60 mins. Then you just have to bake them and start taking out the appropriate pieces every ten minutes. Once you're done, TRY to break the pieces (they should just be simple rectangles of clay, all the same thickness/size). this is what she did, I did the same to test the theory and was blown away by how impossible it was to break the pieces baked longer than 30 mins. I used white clay, because burnt clay with brown and I wanted to find the longest amount of time I could bake my creations for in my specific overnight without tarnishing them. I've never had a single thing break since learning this, I really hope you try the experiment above, you'll see!
I was amazed by your fairy cuff, but now evidently I'll have a couple of these baking beside it in the oven. I subscribed to your channel and am now going through everything you've posted already. Looking forward to more incredible videos/ideas. Love your work. Thank you so much for sharing.
+Diav Dracona this is so clever! I love the way you incorporated so many smart and beautiful techniques in one piece. Very creative, I can't get over how genius-ly done it is!
I just went on the most Incredible Artistic Ride!!! Diav Draconia, this is an exciting and riveting tutorial. I do hope to see more of this amazing work. Thank you! :))).
I love this! I saw the tutorial and then made it a week later. I'm surprised how similar they are. My bracelet is wider and I laced with leather which looks really nice. I almost skipped the antiqueing but I did it in a brown metallic and it does add a nice depth to the piece.. Thanks for the tutorial. I'm sure I will make more of these.
I'm very happy when I read such comments :))) Could you be so kind and show me on my facebook page how it turned out? (or maybe you already did on my facebook, if yes, then sorry, I have been pretty ill recently and haven't been on computer for 2-3 weeks) facebook.com/diavolicious :)))
I just came across your videos and I am so impressed. I am going out tomorrow and get some Fimo and attempt my own. Your work is amazing! May I ask how thick you try to make the wristband and if you have found them to be quite durable. I have to go back now and watch another video....
Thank you very much :). About thickness - honestly, I am not trying to aim for any particular thickness, usually I go with my instinct :). But I measured this one: I used three layers of gold clay as base which made total around 2,5-3mm, all decorations are made from same thickness, and it is the thickest setting on my pasta machine, which is around 3,5mm, so all together this bracelet has thickness around 6-7mm :). Other ones are different - Snake is much thicker, for example, Antique one is thinner than this, although it has flowers which are thicker... And yes, I find them quite durable - some of them are heavy, like the Wedding Bracelet which I made for my own wedding and used also glass stones in it, Faerie bracelet has parts which are more fragile (leaves), but I am wearing it from time to time and nothing yet happened with it, even if I made it fall (accidentally!) several times :))
As a newbie, this is excellent for fuelling my imagination of the possibilities available to me in clay... I'm new to clay, previously keeping my artistic pursuits in pencils/paints... but I'm branching out for new strings to my creative bow - this is beautiful work! Can you advise on what the durability of such items are, i.e. will they break easily or the pieces fall off at all?
Thank you! :D Clay is such a marvelous medium - you can do almost everything out of it :). About durability - that depends on type of clay which you use and thickness of the object. I can speak only about Fimo, cause this is clay that I use - I noticed that the thinner object is the more elastic it is but, up to some limits. If the object is very thin it is good to support it also with liquid clay, which makes it more durable (see my video ruclips.net/video/NcvSEdDw6Rg/видео.html - object is not spectacular, but it is nicely visible how elastic it is). About thicker objects, like my bracelets - I haven't witnessed yet any breaking, even if sometimes I am not so careful and it happens that they fall on the ground ;). Never any piece (like gear or something like this) fell off. Although, once I made my elf ( ruclips.net/video/lvv6wLYMGd4/видео.html ) fall and his hair actually broke (very thin snakes of clay). :) Hope that helps :)
Hi thank you for responding :) I made one of these bracelets yesterday. I was soo chuffed with myself for doing it (photos available on my G+ page) but I dropped it on the floor :( and it broke cleaning into two pieces... I plan to superglue it today as it easy to fix but I wondered if I had over cooked it maybe? I used 10 degrees less than the stated temperature as I have a fan assisted oven and it recommended doing that upon research.. and it stated 30 minutes, so I left it for 30 minutes, it seemed all hard and lovely, but then, it happened... Also, would you recommend glaze or resin, would resin make it stronger? I apologise if you have covered this in your vids but I have no sound on this laptop and so I dont know :) The clay I am using is Sculpey and also Fimo, but not together :) This particular piece I am talking about was in Sculpey.
Charlie Gartland Resin probably would make it stronger but also super shiny - and I don't know if in such cases this is desired effect? Me, I am using semi-gloss Fimo varnish, but it doesn't make a piece stronger, only underlines nicely colors :). Maybe your pieces was too thin? How thick was it? When I am doing my bracelets they are quite thick - first layer, base one, is folded several times clay which went through last setting on my 'pasta' machine. Again, I am not sure about Sculpey - but my Fimo pieces I am baking in 110 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes. I am sorry that your piece broke :(.
The base was 2.34mm thick, with another 2mm added on top I guess... I don't have a pasta machine (googles Pasta machines) *yet!* :D so I rolled it a few times? I don't know... I just rolled it like pastry? Hahaha no worries about breaking it, it was a clean easy fix break and a test piece anyway. Whilst I am still experimenting it doesn't concern me, I can test various products/baking times/resins etc to find what I like and works best for me before I make more complex pieces that I may be more upset over breaking...:) Diav Draconia
I'm wondering if I coated the inside of it with resin and the outside in glaze, if this would work better? The resin would strengthen the inner side more but not make the outside shiny... hmmm,.....eureka! hahaha I shall try this and report back at a later date!
I'm new to clay. Actually, I saw this tutorial and your other ones and ran out to buy clay and tools. Please tell me what you used to cover the bracelet in black. Also, the powder colors you use to brush on the piece. I have Pearl Embossing powder. Will that work? My granddaughter loves Steampunk and we make journals and jewelery together. I would like to make this for her as a gift. Thank you so much. .
So sorry for the super late answer, I know that a year has passed, for many reasons it was RUclips-free year for me. Even if it is too late to help - I just used black acrylic paint. Powder colors are Perfect Pearls and Pearl-Ex, I don't think embossing powder will work same way, but I never tried :)
does the bracelet bend to take on and off? i'm making one right now. my first time working with this clay. I'm using sculpey. your diy video is brilliant! thank you for sharing
I know, you asked one year ago, sorry for the late answer! I already have video on my channel with how to make gears :). It was one of my firsts ones, so quality is not the best, but maybe you would like to check it anyway :)
Thank you :). I am using kind of elastic string/cord, something like this: d1tetrvbd8ptof.cloudfront.net/pictures/77/10477/16705.jpg it has diameter 0.6cm and is quite durable and same time quite cheap to buy (0,24euro for 10 meters) :) (I am buying it here: maxbeads.com/catalog/1073/10477_elastic_line_black_0_6_mm.html :)
I am a little disappointed on how mine tuned out. I made it just like your and it broke in several places when it was tried on. How do you keep yours from breaking?? Please help because I want mine to be more durable. Thanks.
Thanks for your comment! Well, I haven't done anything special, maybe it depends on type of clay? What did you use? I used Fimo. Could it be too thin maybe? I heard that some people are using resin as varnish to increase durability on this kind of bracelets, maybe this would work for you?
Thank you for getting back with me. I used Premo clay and baked it according instructions and covered it with polyurthaine. I am going to try a bracelet blank next time.. Thank you so much for your videos keep up the excellent work
Thank you so much for posting videos!! I have mostly done polymer cane work, but am looking to branch out. I love your steampunk. Cannot wait to take in more videos! :-) What is the tool you use after you press dimples into the clay? First you make a large center dimple, then you make a series of smaller dimples, then you use an even smaller tool in those dimple holes. Are you painting black, or changing the size or shape of the tiny hole, or doing something else? I'm sorry to ask, I just can't tell. I LOVE the little plus-sign tool, that looks like a screw head after imprinting! I can't wait to get one of those!! :-D
Hello, thank you :)) And questions are always welcomed! :))) So, about tools, first I am using ball tools, and then I am defining shape of dimples/holes with very tiny ball tool (more like an oval tool, at this point), which is a part of this set: www.amazon.co.uk/Crazy-Cart-15Pcs-Painting-Brush/dp/B006L1DNWY/ref=pd_sim_beauty_7?ie=UTF8&refRID=0JV7T8DD828T2D8B8YTJ I think it was intended to paint details on nails - but I am using it for clay :). Little plus-sign tool is actually a pieces from actual screwdriver, one with exchangeable heads :). And I paint everything black only after baking (and then I wipe away the paint with a wet tissue, leaving it only in creases) :). Hope that helps!
So glad you shared the video for this. :) It came out awesome and amazing. Your Steampunk videos are how I found you on youtube. :) The background music is perfect for this video. :) - Heidi
Thank you very much :))) I kinda love this background music, even if original tune lasts only around 2 minutes - I do enjoy it in a loop (at least for some time:P). The only thing I miss in this music is sound of steam coming from time to time, would match well, I think :)
love your videos, love your art work. The song though had me wondering if something was going to jump up at me through the screen! lol creeeepyyyyy Or maybe I should be carrying my battle axe that is enchanted with 160 strength?? It glows :)
Hello Diav, I need your help .. my nephew told me that he would like to have a modern car style steapunk :-/ ... You have no idea how to do it??? If you have the time and inclination I would be happy if you did a tutorial!! Would be fine even a bicycle! Hello and thank you for all your beautiful creations! And sorry for my bad English!
Hello :). Steampunk car or bicycle, that is quite a challenge :), I will try to figure something out and prepare tutorial, although not sure when! :) Thank you very much and your English is not bad :)

Supperb, imaginative, and authentic! Your attention to detail is indescribable.

How did you make the cogs?? I don't know how to because when I make one, it looks like someone put it through a blender!!!!
the paint from the can doesn't come off onto the clay when baking? beautiful work!
Beautiful and awesome thanks for the info on how to make it 👍👍👍👍👍
Hola me encanta tu trabajo me gustria saber que masa estas usando ??
I just went on the most Incredible Artistic Ride!!! Diav Draconia, this is an exciting and riveting tutorial. I do hope to see more of this amazing work. Thank you! :))).
Aawwwww thank you so much! :))
Awesome idea with cutting the can like that..more stability Love how detailed you are and it is an great design. Is that elastic string on the back?
Thank you :), yes, this is elastic string on the back - holds bracelet in place really well, without squeezing my wrist too much :)
I love this! I saw the tutorial and then made it a week later. I'm surprised how similar they are. My bracelet is wider and I laced with leather which looks really nice. amazing work I love it!!!!!
Thank you very much :)
wow amazing bracelet! Awesome!
Thank you very much :)

does she bake it with the cola can????

Just marvellous!!! Great!!!
Absolutely stunning! Great video. What is the black that you coated with and then rubbed off? Is it just acrylic paint? Thanks so much.
Thank you! Just acrylic paint, yes :)
Is it really possible to make something like that? How can tha baked polymere clay not break when you put i on or move your wrist?
It depends on the clay used, thickness of the layer :). My bracelet is still in use! :)
Wirklich schön gemacht 😍
does the bracelet bend to take on and off? i'm making one right now. my first time working with this clay. I'm using sculpey.
your diy video is brilliant! thank you for sharing
Thank you! Mine bends a bit, but I guess it depends on type of clay and thickness of the bracelet :)
I found you today :-) Beautiful work! Congratulations!!
Thank you! :))) I am watching your channel already for some time and I love your videos :)))
Thank you Diav! yours are beautiful :-)
Could you please do a slo-mo video on how to make the gears?
I love this style - never heard of "steampunk" before
Your are very gifted.
I know, you asked one year ago, sorry for the late answer! I already have video on my channel with how to make gears :). It was one of my firsts ones, so quality is not the best, but maybe you would like to check it anyway :)
one more question..... How long did you bake it? This is my first polymer clay project and it might not turn out the way I want.
♥ stunning! I love this!! fantastic job!
Thanks! ♥
Love your work just a question for a newbie what do you use for the "string" at the back x
Powiedz, proszę, jaki jest tytuł tej pięknej melodii w tle?
To Industrial Revolution - Kevina MacLeod (incompetech.com) :) (U mnie zawsze tytuł muzyki znajdziesz na końcu opisu filmiku :) )
I am a little disappointed on how mine tuned out. I made it just like your and it broke in several places when it was tried on. How do you keep yours from breaking?? Please help because I want mine to be more durable. Thanks.

Does it break when you bend it?
If you bend really really strongly then probably yes ;)
ok, i will have to be careful
I love to have one would you sale one
So glad you shared the video for this. :) It came out awesome and amazing. Your Steampunk videos are how I found you on youtube. :) The background music is perfect for this video. :)

Thank you very much :))) I kinda love this background music, even if original tune lasts only around 2 minutes - I do enjoy it in a loop (at least for some time:P). The only thing I miss in this music is sound of steam coming from time to time, would match well, I think :)
wich paint did you used?
Black acrylic paint by Pebeo :)
Thank you for ur reply and links.xx
Do you bake on or off the pop can?
On :)
Thanks
what kind of paint do you use?
Black paint which I used after baking is just simple acrylic paint :)
And to wipe it away I am using wet tissues (ones for babies) :)
gdzie kupowałaś "pzyrządy" do modeliny?
Różnie - niektóre na Amazonie, niektóre w Scrapmalin.com :)
love your videos, love your art work. The song though had me wondering if something was going to jump up at me through the screen! lol creeeepyyyyy Or maybe I should be carrying my battle axe that is enchanted with 160 strength?? It glows :)
