Had to take several months off because of a surgery, and coming back this was happening to me a lot. The answer was obvious, but I'm happy to be reminded! I'm just underestimating how low you gotta get.
The court is looking so beautiful! The story you told is very interesting! Just like that guy, I see many players especially beginners swing horizontally, not dropping the racket and bending their knees. Have a great and safe trip and vacation!
Did you realize that you're the only person who used the term differential? It's the most useful term ever regarding the position of the racquet relative to the height of the ball. Thanks for your work.
Naples Florida?? ... I once was in Naples Florida ... it was so hot! ... How hot was it Johnny? ... It was so hot I saw a dog chasing a cat ... and they were both walking ... hey yo !!
@@Fundamentalsoftennis joking aside, great tip!! Racquet face angle is also a key element here though as an open face with the low to high, an inexperienced player very may well be launching the ball over the back fence . . . !! And where in Naples is this please? We stayed there for the 3rd week of our US honeymoon back in 2009 (1wk NY, 1wk Orlando, 1wk Naples). We stayed at the Park Shore Resort. We're from the UK.
Yes, number one mistake worldwide, but compared to recreational players they have longer rallies and tend to miss long or wide more often... the point? Take the net out of the equation and get the racquet LOWER than contact point BEFORE swinging forward.
THANK YOU MR AVERY!
Simple, yet, as you say, much needed advice.
Thanks for the visit!

Hitting the ball in the net is like a golfer putting short of the hole! 😉

i see that ur knees are bending.... that is allowing ur racket head to get below the ball......
Absolutely!!! tennis pros are famous for saying "Bend Your Knees"... but why? To let the racket drop below the contact point before swinging forward.
Tom, you're watching the wrong ATP matches. Professionals regularly hit the ball in the net. That has never changed. It never will.
