From observation it looks like 3 could be a solution. Plug 3. It is. Divide your cubic by x-3. You get x^2 + 2x + 6. Solve that. There's your other two solutions. Done
There is some mistake at some point when you wrote (x^2+3^2)= (x+3)(x-3).
