    My favorite statistics channel! I love how you use similar numbers for all variances and deviations. It makes it much easier to understand, and straight to the point. Going to ace my statistics class! 😁

    thank you! I understood how to do it in theory, it was just super helpful to see a breakdown of it step by step so I could follow along with my own population data set per my homework lol. especially with symbols I dont know yet. thank you thank you!

    I just had a light bulb go off because you explained what the u meant. I couldn't understand why E(X-U) meant when we aren't multiplying anything or at least not really. If you actually look at it, E means Sum Of and X is the score. So if you think about the order of operations for this equations, it means
    1) Find the Sum of the scores first OVER N EX/N
    and then the next step which is
    2) E-U or Some Of the scores minus the Mean squared E-U2/N
    Now it all makes sense. Just have to remember a sample is N-1

    I dont know how to put this into my question. "A doctor at a local hospital is interested in estimating the birth weight of infants. How large a sample must she select if she desires to be 90% confident that her estimate is within 3 ounces of the true mean? Assume that Population Standard deviation is 6 ounces based on earlier studies"

    • @Learn2Stats
      @Learn2Stats  Год назад

      The question is asking how many observations are needed to have a margin of error of 3 oz. Margin of error formula for this is the critical value for 90% multiplied by the standard error divided by square root of n. You are solving for n when the margin of error equals 3.
      I hope this helps!

      @@Learn2Stats hey thanks for responding. i still don’t understand my formulas. Is there a set of videos in order going through statistics chapter 1 - 10? I need to at least study for my final.

    I don't understand the last part. I get 14.5 when I divide it then if I do the square root of 14.5x14.5=210.25 so how do you get 3.808

    • @Learn2Stats
      @Learn2Stats  2 года назад +1

      That is a good question, thank you for showing me what you did.
      You squared 14.5, that is you multiplied 14.5 by itself. Taking the square root of something goes the opposite way. You are trying to find what number times itself equals 14.5. In this case, you will have to use a calculator or a program like Excel to find that number which in this case is 3.808.

    what if i have a population size of 100? is there an easier way to calculate this?

    • @Learn2Stats
      @Learn2Stats  10 месяцев назад

      If you are being asked to calculate by hand, no.
      If not, use Excel function STDEV.P and highlight the 100.

    The last step like in squared. I quite not understand it, why 3.808 is the answer

      I computed the different parts of the formula leading up to that point. After they were calculated, I put those elements back into the original formula to get the answer.

    • @Learn2Stats

      58/4 =14.5. You just need to do the square root of 14.5 to get the answer.
