That wall was bringing them to a halt. Nice vid. Still confuses me why some think it's a good idea to put a directional tire, like a v tread, on backwards when going forward is the main objective.
People that comment "first" take note, this is the type of stuff you need to be coming up with. Yeah that wall was pretty steep, the backwards tires still gets me. From what I heard the first pass keeps them from digging, cause once the tire digs its over in that blue gumbo mud. The one guy in the red GMC walked across it, said he's been running tires backwards like that for years and still catches hell for it.
You will never see me comment "first"...lol...I've never seen one person comment "first" and get a special reward or cookie.

I was questioning having the backwards tires too.
Its for better grip nothing else. And common reason why they stuck is lack of torque/power and bad locks specially.

I love this stuff, but what gets me is, some of these huge trucks, with monster tires, all the crazy suspension, etc...etc...and not even a locking differential? Hell, if you can't find one, Lincoln makes one for every axle built. 😅
How many axle shafts do you think they would break in situations like this?
@@Mudstamp I guess it depends on how strong the shafts are, what axles they're running, etc...most are running Rockwells in these trucks, pretty stout. I don't think it would be any worse than the one shaft they're putting the power to, in fact, it might distribute the load and put less stress on each individual shaft. Regardless, I think someone with locked axles that held up would drive right out of this situation.

what happened to the big ford at the start? looked like he had it easy and then he was dead in the water.
Jason Luera sounded like something gave out in the drivetrain one he started spinning the truck jerked and the tires stoped but his motor wss still revving

Not exactly sure but it sounded expensive.
Sounded like he broke the u joints.
Could have been an input shaft cause the driveshafts looked like they were still in place.
Sitting there burning holes in the pit is not going to get you forward or backwards I don't understand the concept please Somebody explain

At that level of customization not having a diff-lock is super lame. Those wheels and suspensions are instantly useless.

With tires like those if you lock the axles you are more likely to snap axles then the funs over sure an unlocked axle isnt as good but do you really wanna break that thing aprart to fix it every couple runs

Just curious I'm new at this why are they getting so stuck? With those massive tires it should be very difficult.
I dont know anything about mudding but why are there no lockers on their axels wouldn't that help if all 4 were turning?
2011gmh they spent their whole budget on the lift kit and tires lol
2011gmh real reason they do not lock the axles is because it’s way easier to break stuff that way and when your running such massive tires and powerful engines every time they went out they would break stuff
TheBossGuy1 and also a locker in the front with them tires will not work on hard ground very easily when you turn

Why even try without full lockers?
Todd Bertram - I had the same thought, why even put that much money into a rig like these and Not do lockers? Don't make sense to me.
well, from people I know who do this, you build up to a truck like this. rarely do people straight up drop 20, 30, 40 etc large up front. many of these trucks, I assume, they've owned for years. so basically people buy these axles and mount them immediately knowing lockers can stress and break parts more easily. Im sure most of these open dif trucks will work their way up to lockers. or not because fuck it, this shit is for fun really. my $0.02
Honestly I would have figured with them being 2 1/2 ton and some 5 ton Rockwell military axles they would have already been locked 🔒
Even expensive built ones often don't use lockers and instead use different forms of limited-slip differentials. Tires this large and this heavy will instantly snap most drivelines if loaded up wrong, so a fully locked differential is just asking for trouble 👎
yet a semi can drive around fully loaded with locked diffs all day long

STRODE GAMING I've heard that myth and it really is pointless when it come to traction and floatation.. Why do u think tractors don't do that LoL. They weigh alot more than mud trucks and even the ones with flotation tires still run v tred correctly. It is comical that some people actually think it will give them an advantage

Runs good but transmission is slipping(i have rebuilt trans ready to be put in soon) but only because we kept pulling my brother in laws semi out of small ditches when he parked it at my grandmas house. Also from pulling idiots stuck in mud (i live in florida)
