      @@JansenArtEducation I agree! I’ve been doing that a lot more lately (just using photos as a reference). I’m finally starting to feel comfortable in just not copying what I see but to be able to add or subtract to make the painting my own. If I can, anyone can!

    Really interesting video. Loved the temperature approach and the Impressionism. Of course I enjoy them all so much and am excited at the thought of portraits for beginners too. This rose was fascinating as it shows that you don’t have to be a slave to the reference and in the end your rose looked better! With your encouraging words I’ll keep on keeping on and enjoy the process more without worrying about the end result. Blessings.

    It is hard to follow without individual guidance sometimes, I think classes/courses are important. I have been painting for nearly a year now but I know I could be doing a lot better so courses are a really excellent idea!!

      David I notice that you are selling full individual tutorials and wonder would you continue that with some of your other paintings like the German shepherd or others that you have in your courses ? For some people like myself it is easier in s lot of ways to buy these particular lessons individually so I can build my own library with the pictures that I chose to paint. Is this making sense? 🤔

    Love it! So happy to hear you are going to discuss mediums. I ordered some of the open medium but I am confused about the extender. Do I look for extender or a retarded to make the paint dry slower? Thanks for being such an awesome teacher.

    Hello! Your painting process is very impressive and beautiful💖. But I have some part of it don’t quite understand. May I ask what’s the difference between open medium and extender? And is extender suppose to be transparent? Because mine is white. I know that extender can help to thinner acrylic, helps acrylic to behaves like oil paint and apply alla prima technique. Does open medium do the same? Why do we need both medium? I am so sorry I have so many questions.

    • @JansenArtEducation
      @JansenArtEducation  3 года назад +1

      Not all acrylics are the same. If you don't have clear Heritage Externder then yours is not the same. Extender is thin, and Open Medium is thicker and more "sticky". I use both in different parts of the painting. Some areas I use thin colors, washes and for that I use Extender. For thicker areas where I want more paint and slower paint movement I use Open Medium.

    What media do you use? Is that wood or something? Could you tell me what better media I can use for acrylic? Maybe what kind of paper?
