I have been enjoying your teachings and want to thank you for offering your videos. I especially enjoy your personality. Pretty sure you're a student's favorite teacher by far. 😂
I love to watch and listen to you, you are an exceptional teacher. Please keep using your hands, this is a very good technique and I learned it thanks to you. Now I paint better to combine the colors in a gentle way. Thank you for being on YT. You have great talent and a gift of teaching. I need to get your brushes!
I got so busy today I totally missed this lesson! I’ll have to watch later. Working on something different tonight and tomorrow is live class woohoo! See you tomorrow David! Happy painting!! 🎨
Hi David your teaching how to use the acrylic with water to get half ton is enlightening. For many years I used it with transfer jelly. In the next few days I’m going to try it. Many thanks. Nurit from Israel
The explicit teaching is wonderful thank you. Especially the pointers to tonal values are the best explanations I've heard. Just started painting again in the last 2 years after many years. All your teaching is much appreciated.
Thank you David for your videos. It helps me a lot in learning new techniques. I love to paint, but I stopped for while out frustration. Now I feel like painting again and determined to do so. Your videos encourage me to go on and paint again. I like the way you patiently teach your audience, each step. Thank you so much again, I‘ll keep on watching your videos.
Great examples of techniques for tonal and half-tone painting! I enjoy seeing your process of dark to light, cool to warm, and your explanation of the three parts of the rose shape. These brush-ups are so informative……your methods are easy to understand and follow….the sign of a good teacher. Thank you!
Thank you David for all these brush ups. Reviewing and relearning after being away from painting for many months is helping me to get back into the grove and love of painting. Thanks again
Very interesting !! I’m learning something new with every lesson ... I bought myself a mitre box and my wood ...made my first picture frame ..Turned out pretty good 😊. I got a bit stumped when it came time to paint it though. Not sure on colours ..I like what you do with the gold ...Thankyou David 🌹
Hi Dave…can you do a painting demo on how to paint a bunch of rocks and boulders please….like at the base of a mountain stream…in the foreground.…..😩😩😩
Hi, I have a couple of those on the channel. I can do some more. The long details ones though I have in my online classes because not too many people like the long videos.
Got an idea on how to paint looking at real rose. I have been posting my painting in WhatsApp and my friends are saying that my roses are looking very much realistic. It makes me feel happy. Thank you sir.
You need good brushes and good acrylics to paint nice flowers, I've been trying to buy the brushes you use from Amazon at a $100.00 for 4?. Seems Amazon is over charging, What say you?. Can you spend more time on base colours for flowers, like what color goes beneath, yellow, red, etc. Thanks David. Love your tutoring. You are the best. Desmond Rare
Who is the heck said that? They don't know the chemistry of acrylic paints. Water is inside acrylics. Many acrylics it is at least 40% of the volume. Water is the solvent as well. You can use it to thin down the paint and create better flow. Using only water gives you a complete different effect than using a medium. I use both. I paint with hundreds of different techniques because as a chemist and artist, I teach people how to use paint to create different looks. There are hundreds of ways to paint something. Using a medium is only one way. Thanks!!
@@JansenArtEducation My Art Teacher. Said it would compromise the product. To always use a medium to thin. I know they are water based but she also only used Distilled water for cleaning and making Gesso. Was I led astray? 😁 lol
Yes, you led astray. You can use up to 50% water in Heritage Acrylics to thin before you thin it out too much. Water is used all the time in acrylics. It is in every acrylic paint. The majority of mediums are mostly water! You can create problems if you add too much water. You thin out the binder in the paint and it's ability to make cross-linking bonds is reduce. This will reduce the hardness of the final paint film, but you have to add more than 50% water to do that. I do agree if you going to make something by adding water distilled is the best because it is pH neutral. pH is a huge factor in the long term storage of acrylics. The other factor is mold spores. If you use tap water it is best to boil it for 10 minutes to kill any mold spores. This is only if your going to store the paint longer term. You do not need to boil water to paint with. I use normal tap water in my painting everyday and have done that for 40 years. I have been building acrylic and oil paint systems for different paint companies since 1983. Whoever is telling you this is wrong. You can paint with water, just remember your thinning out the glue that sticks the paint together as well. Thinning like I show in my videos is perfectly fine to do with absolutely no problems whatsoever. 🙂

I usually pull a color from the composition. Darker if you want contrast and lighter to make it "airy".

That doesn't sound right at all. Email the studio at JansenArtStudio@aol.com They can help you. They need to know what Amazon is doing as well. Thanks
More landscapes please...the more detail the better...then we can make as impressionistic as we like....
Thank you Pedro 😀
Здравствуйте, спасибо, я в восторге!
Thank you 😀
How do you find the brush up videos on landscapes? Love this rose!
Why the water rather than Medium? (For the Watercolor effect?)
I was taught to never use water except with the Script Brush.
