it's so easy to have your own fashion. understandable that teenagers are trapped by trends as they emerge from their parents dressing them and paying for their clothes into rebuilding their wardrobes, but by your 20s you should have your own distinctive style. young men in the imperial core are cursed with the psychosis of wanting to blend in. they get the fade haircut, they hit the gym, they wear the same clothes as everyone else, they adopt slang that has nothing to do with their social background. we need a version of Tate that tells young men to focus on crafting an interesting identity and not being part of the herd.

I always find this channel interesting because it is not how I think about fashion at all. I will think about purchases for months or even years before buying them with serious research as to the quality and longevity of the piece. I hate buying things because of the name, when they are cheaply made, and look tacky. I spend a decent amount on clothes, but they all last for decades and relatively timeless.

Calling ppl npc that wear Mainstream clothes then selling boring Merch to His horde of sheeps WHO all of them think they are the "Main Charakter". Kinda Ironic
This is just a result of GEN Z themselves. I'm convinced that because of social media and the internet raising gen z, the quintessential vibe that describes gen z is "main character syndrome". No one thinks of themselves as normal, they all think of themselves as what the story revolves around.
I totally agree with this, there has been this weird aversion to being a normal person as normal is equated with mediocre. Every is not nor do they have to be a celebrity. As someone who used to be into fashion and worked in it for some time, this feeling became even more apparent and I hated the attitudes it bred. Expression through clothing is great, going to shows is an awesome experience anyone even remotely interested should go to but at the end of the day its just clothes. Its not that deep, wear what you like and what you're comfortable in, nobody cares that much to have weird tier systems of "npcs" or whatever else frugal is talking about here, no one operates this way in real life outside of the "fashion crowd".
Bruh being from Atlanta I was literally about to dump my wallet into fog mid designer gear but after watching this you gave me the confidence to wear what I think is fashionable in my own right and not some shit just to fit in and say “yea I can dress”. Like this is legit my first time hearing the term fit language cause I was never into fashion until recently but I see what your saying. And I also see what your saying about people my age including myself doing this mad dash to get previously unavailable stuff in order to perpetuate this high class boujie look. I personally blame the Migos🤷🏽♂️
I like how you had to print on the essentials logo lol, if it was real I doubt some people would’ve realized the carhart beanie plus the fog hoodie was a joke
The outrageous “fit personality” is more of an NPC in my opinion. The more obscure and out there, the more basic you are. It screams “look at me, I’m into fashion”. It’s the unattainable that will become attainable. It is the trendy pretentious pomp that screams “I’m better than you. I’m unique” while not being unique. Maybe I’m biased. Maybe I’m the NPC🤷♂️
What I think that the point of this video is, is not to call a certain style NPC, but rather to tell the viewer to search for your own personality and style and how your style can adapt to your personality. If your personality adapts to what he calls the "NPC style" then that be it, there's nothing wrong with it, if your personality adopts to something more unique and shocking then that be it. Fashion style is subjective and noone should feel obligated to standby a certain style if that's not what he wants. Now, this is said by someone who DOES NOT know how to create a good outfit (me), but if there's one thing I've learnt about outfits is that if your personality is inexistent how you dress won't matter. No one gives a shit how you dress as long as you're not showing up to a fancy dinner in underpants so if you want to stay in that "NPC" safezone than be like me. Stay in it. Dress just because it's illegal not to. As long as you actually have a personality, it'll work out.
I think calling somebody out as an NPC is one of the most unsympathetic things. It is like you put yourself above someone and this is very disgusting. People should really stop. And also being not that self confident to wear very extra and special clothes is not a bad thing. Fashion is something to feel good about and not to be ashamed of.
I agree with you. Calling someone an NPC is very reductive. This is kind of in human nature though, as we can only comprehend our _own_ sentience and not the sentience of others. But the whole popularization of "NPC" (and other ways of conveying the same message that someone is not an individual) as an insult is an example of the bandwagon effect ironically...
I think we all have main character fits and npc fits. Just depends on what you’re doing that day. Nephew’s t-ball game? NPC. Concert downtown? Main character.
In this video he explains that the NPCs wearing the fits in this vid are trying to flex what they have not realizing they’re basic, they are trying to have something that’s perceived as exclusive or hard to obtain, it’s a lack of self-awareness that makes one an NPC, that and not trying to experiment.
@@samanthacashx I completely agreed with your first post too, your clothes won't feel the same in every situation. You're thinking critically so that instantly negates you from falling into npc behavior.
2:34 To be fair, that NPC fit to the right of the screen [with the hat and white shirt] , sometimes you just gotta be comfy or functional for regular lifestyle tasks, like running errands or chilling at your friend's house. A few of those NPC fits shown aren't horrible, NPC fits much more basic and out-dated etc
The difference is the NPCs in the video give off the vibe of "look how cool and unique I am" while wearing basic outfits, while most normal folks just wear their NPC outfits to get through the day without the need to flex on social media
I honestly wouldn’t have bought any of my shoes or clothes if it wasn’t for my love for making music and me growing as an artist / personality. I’ve never had an issue w this. I almost always get compliments on my fits and I always roughly pull something together that I think looks good. I never buy clothes because it’s popular. I get and wear clothes because I like them.
@@faveless theres also an anti metrosexual movement happening by the metrosexuals 😳 they feel ashamed and are now wearing "blue collar" working man brands like Carhart Nd Bass pro 😳😳😳
You know what! I guess I’m an NPC. In the Rick and Balenciaga area. But I think it’s ok. The examples you gave are valid and I agree but the thing is that in order to wear a lot of clothes with individuality you have to have a very big pocket. Individual clothes are very expensive and in order to not be the kind of guy that wears his special Rick devil-horn jacket 24/7 I have to have some basics. Owing like two or three special items is a thing but people surrounding you will recognize these items fast because they are so catchy. And if you wear this catchy items a couple of times they will just get boring and dumb very fast. Don’t you agree? Sure my Ramones and mountain hoodie is owned by many people but they are nice and classic items of my favorite designer and compared to those super individual items with personality I can wear them much more often without feeling like I would wear the aggressive pieces too much.
im so glad someone said this out loud. this lack of fit language/being able to tell their thought process/where they shop exactly kept me from really engaging in the fashion community online. weirdly enough that helps develop your own sense of fashion even more

it's so easy to have your own fashion. understandable that teenagers are trapped by trends as they emerge from their parents dressing them and paying for their clothes into rebuilding their wardrobes, but by your 20s you should have your own distinctive style.
young men in the imperial core are cursed with the psychosis of wanting to blend in. they get the fade haircut, they hit the gym, they wear the same clothes as everyone else, they adopt slang that has nothing to do with their social background. we need a version of Tate that tells young men to focus on crafting an interesting identity and not being part of the herd.

I work in a retail store as a part time job and I buy mostly our own items, and none of them are fashion forward. But if fashion was a game, I'd see it as a competitive multiplayer game where I'm just a spectator enjoying the show. Fashion is pay to win so I'm not invested enough to compete with wales. Participating as a dolphin can work, but you gotta put too much effort imo..
literally this, at the end of the day what's the point of buying fashion forward clothes when earning a normal income? to act like you earn more? to feel better than everyone else and to escape the "npc" category? jesus christ this shit's pathetic just wear stuff you like the look of and don't go broke trynna act rich

@@rktilinfinity A game in which you have an advantage by using money is pay to win. I don't think I need to explain to you how someone who can't or doesn't want to spend money on clothes would have a higher chance to win if he was rich and fashion was his top priority.

Idk man…to me, the online fit pics has become the new “digital” mannequins. It’s like walking through the store and seeing the perfectly outfitted mannequins, Except online it’s real people in the pictures, who make it more interactive by adding their personal flare to the fit with their own grooming & stance-but to me, it’s the almost perfectly styled aspect of it that makes it still a very mannequin-esque appeal
I love your take, never thought of it like this, it's 100% true
The perfectly styled part is the only I don't like. It really *looks* like the person bought the entire fit for the photo, with no incorporation of a preexisting wardrobe. I tend to see items I like on others and incorporate them in limited measures to my own style. I don't want to look like billboard just a well enough put together local.
@@earlyman7439 at least there’s still a few people left out here who respect individuality over popularity. The digital age makes being popular seem so easy now that it’s not the same. And being an individual is extremely overshadowed
It’s the same thing with music. People want to post their niche music taste on their stories or even posts and don’t realize their basically a walking advertisement
That's a fckin good take

I always find this channel interesting because it is not how I think about fashion at all. I will think about purchases for months or even years before buying them with serious research as to the quality and longevity of the piece. I hate buying things because of the name, when they are cheaply made, and look tacky. I spend a decent amount on clothes, but they all last for decades and relatively timeless.

I learned that you're either an NPC or you hit the random button during character customization
You are the main character
Bruh being from Atlanta I was literally about to dump my wallet into fog mid designer gear but after watching this you gave me the confidence to wear what I think is fashionable in my own right and not some shit just to fit in and say “yea I can dress”.
Exactly! “Look at me I’m willing to over pay for clothing in order to signal to others how increasingly exclusive I am”
Straight fax
I don't think I'm better than anyone but definitely when I dress I want my clothes to say "look at me" whether you like it or not lol
Lame narcissist
Facts lol
