- Classic TOTP performance of 'I Love to Boogie' by T. Rex. Originally performed in 1976, this has been newly restored to HD
T.Rex - the creation of Marc Bolan, the band’s leader, creative director and sole song-writer - was born out of the late-1960s’ hippy counter-culture. Bolan’s road to superstardom took him from 18-year-old folk singer to proto-punk guitar thrasher in John’s Children, via the blissed-out Tolkien-washed mysticism of Tyrannosaurus Rex to fully-fledged Glam Rock idol in T.Rex. Following their breakthrough 1970 hit, Ride A White Swan, T.Rex became the biggest pop phenomenon of the new decade, scoring chart-topping, award-winning singles and LPs across Europe, the Far East, and Australia, while finding success in North America via the top-10 single Get It On (Bang A Gong) and hit albums Electric Warrior and The Slider. Decades after Bolan’s tragically early death, the influence of T.Rex is still felt across the music world. His status as one of the leading British music stars has recently been recognised with the induction of T.Rex into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Lyrics:
We love to boogie
We love to boogie
Jitterbug boogie
High school boogie
We love to boogie
On a Saturday night
Belinda Mae Fender's got a Cadillac Bone
Jenny lost her cherry walking all the way home
The passion of the Earth blasted its mind
Now it's neat, sweet, ready for the moon-based grind
We love to boogie
We love to boogie on a Saturday night
I said we love to boogie
We love to boogie
High school boogie
Bolan boogie boogie
We love to boogie
On a Saturday night
Ah, yeah
Jitterbug left and smile to the sky
With your black velvet cape and your stovepipe hat
Be-bop, baby, the dance is where it's at
I love to boogie
Yes, I love to boogie on a Saturday night
I said I love to boogie
I love to boogie
Jitterbug boogie
I love to boogie
I love to boogie
On a Saturday night
I love to boogie
I love to boogie
High school
I love to boogie
I love to boogie
On a Saturday night
I love to boogie
I love to boogie
Jitterbug boogie
Teenage boogie
I love to boogie
On A Saturday Night Видеоклипы
Marc was ace ❤
In good shape again after years of alcohol abuse, Marc returned to the UK Top 20 one last time in 1976. The song "I Love to Boogie" became legendary almost 25 years later through the wonderful movie "Billy Elliot".
Great to see Steve Currie still in the band at that point, he's one of the most underrated bass players in rock. Love this classic, pure 50s rock 'n' roll nostalgia.
The best look of Marc 🤘🏻
💗 he was so gorgeous ⭐
ive always adored this very handsome guy ,,i would have loved to kiss him then now ans always xxx ✔✔✔✔
Mark Boland super. светлая память.
Marc Bolan, Excellent Musician and song writer, died to young, could have been a mega star
Love this song. We play it live. Sounds like a live version here.
Ich mag den T Rex Boogie auch. 😊

Peaked at No.13 on the UK chart in the summer of 1976. Marc's last Top 20 hit and one of his most popular.
Wow! This is fantastic HD quality. Its a massive improvement on the previous version that's been around for years. Bolan Boogie ❤
Children of the Revolution 2024 🙏
So exciting love it❤
Aguante T. Rex y el Rock And Roll papá!
All 1970s Stars had their own sounds that's what so cool since then they all sound the same bring back the 1970s please from robert
Cool as 🎉
Been a fan since 1970. This performance always seems to be at a slower tempo than the recording. Certainly when they played it live on the Dandy in the Underworld tour it took off like a rocket. Bolan forgets the lyric on the second verse so makes up some gobbledygook words to fill in. 😂
I noticed he forgot the lyrics 🤣 hilarious
This guy was such a good looker also he could sing ,i wish i could have boogiied with him xx
Rock, n, roll!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍🇸🇪
17/06/1976 was the day of my last A level exam. Chemistry Paper 2.
Blind drunk in the Red Lion that night.
First time I see them perform sth live
Thanks for this, superb picture quality, great to see this performance looking this good - despite a touch of really horrible TOTP fast editing in there looking much more like 21st century editing!
Adired thus guy so much was heart broken when passed away 💔💔💔💔😭😭😭
UNERREICHBAR❤❤❤❤
Класс!!!
Супер!🔥🔥🔥
I like this. It has a quick fade outvat the end, so I wonder who was presenting the show that week. It could simply be that by missing out the presenter, it makes lciencing the recording easier.
einmal Fan immer Fan
Love it. Though he couldn't win. If he still looked the same as he did in 1972 and was re-hashing Telegram Sam folk would say he was stuck in time and hadn't moved on. Same way people are complaining about this live version, they also complain that other performances are mimed.

Marc najlepszy z najlepszych❤
Nice to see Marc not miming on TOTPs, though he looked a bit subdued. Perhaps like Samson, he shouldn't have cut his hair lol
Marc precoui star waves from bonnie scotland 😊😊😊

Miller Anderson second guitar?
This lot were his B team, uninspiring second string.
@@PollieBrooon-cz5ygwhat!!! Steve Currie in the B team 😂😂😂😂 I think not 🎸🎸🎸
I was wondering who that was. I thought it might have been Denny Laine.
i watched it twice, thought it was Denny Lane at first.
@@brianharris7243 Miller Anderson was (and still is) a fantastic guitarist - at the time I was astonished when he joined - then after Steve left and Herbie joined - well . . . let’s just say the last tour was something quite special 🎸🎸🎸
Zu langsam
Never liked this performance very much he had just gotten over the flu and to me wasn’t at the top of his game here.
TBH,...a spent force by now,..hanging on to past memories,..a faded, forgotten star.
He should have retired. That way, he would no longer be pestered by the taxman.
@PollieBrooon-cz5ygoi doubt it would have made any difference to the tax man if he was performing or not. Deoend on royalties, tax would still have been due.
Lost his way by now,....stuck for inspiration and image.
thats what i thought - back then ,, shame ;
-He didnt look very well there. Not the greatest t-rex song.
Best days behind him. Pretty much washed up and out of time by end of 1974.
Didn’t look his best true , but amazing just a year later he looked great on his TV show. Between 76-77 he stopped drinking and went on a get fit regime.
