‘Prokritir Gras’ or ‘Nature Devours’ is a 18 minutes short documentary on world’s largest delta with huge density of mangroves forest, a network of crisscrossed rivers and streams, which exists as a protector not only for the species and lives of the region but also for a whole region oIndia and Bangladesh. Such a mangrove forest and nature’s own land is in danger. Global Warming and rising sea level is the main cause of threatens to the delta. The documentary explores the different islands of Sunderbans delta where soil and land erosion is on high level and how the high tide and soil erosion effects the villagers lives, targeting rising sea level and land erosion. Many villages and agricultural lands were swallowed by the sea. Devastating cyclones, raging water, have made the islanders environmental refugees. The documentary shows how the islanders are getting migrated forcefully by the hungry saline water and climate change. Due to land erosion the whole ecosystem of the coastal areas has also been changed.
The islands of Sundarbans delta, shrinking and could well vanish in the near future. The griefs of the villagers present their view and replace facts with myths in an easy to understand language.
