    What do you think to Damascus steel tools?

    Hey Joe, must have missed this upload last week. Great to see you back, I was wondering where you had been. Really like seeing your work on the new big lathe. Love the finish on the copper, one only machined it one or twice and it stinks to machine. Can't wait to see your next project, cheers

    You did a great job on both the machining of the different types of materials and the making of the video. Very professional, thanks for sharing.

    Very nice, and the voice-overs work well. Watch the copper face as copper can work harden and mark you piece. I prefer aluminium, but each to their own. It’s a very striking hammer!

      Thanks Mark glad you enjoyed and the joy of this type of hammer it’s easy to change the ends so it might be I make a aluminium face and swap with copper for some materials.

    Nice hammer, can I suggest putting a 10 degree bevel on the hammer heads across maybe 1/3rd of the diameter?

    • @MachiningwithJoe
      @MachiningwithJoe  Год назад +1

      That’s not a bad idea Ian. I can always do that on some different end where I can swap them out easily.

    I’m sold…I want to make a machinist hammer from Damascus steel and interchangeable ends. Very cool project. When are you going to finish the little steam engine that you started a while back?

    • @MachiningwithJoe
      @MachiningwithJoe  Год назад +1

      Thanks TA Ranson, I still have to get back into the steam engine product. I’m thinking if I get enough interest of doing a mid week live video where I will complete it on there.

      @@MachiningwithJoe I have been waiting patiently for it to be completed, I can’t wait to see it finished. Steam engines are rather cool 😎

    Looks like a nice tool to last a lifetime with replacement heads as needed. Have you worked out how much the materials cost ? Have a good safe trip to Denmark - pity it's for work and not pleasure.

    • @MachiningwithJoe

      Hi George I haven’t exactly worked it out but I estimate about £70 for this build.
