I loved this episode. Pearl is a beautiful and wise woman I agreed with everything she said. Sometimes as women we work or do things because of pressure and because of expectations from the society. It's important to always sit back and make choices based on your own personal values and goals! Great show ladies!
The amazing moments a stay home mum enjoys with her children are priceless. You get to see all the "firsts" with your children. And I loved how pearl said even when one has a maid, one takes advantage of that by being hands on with the children. Delegate with house work but still be hands on with my kids. PS: I love work mom's and I'm super proud of most of them for juggling work n family 😉 Thanks ladies ☺
Eye opener. I’m just beginning to build my career and I have 2 little ones below 5 and i want to build my career quickly before I truly need to be home more with my children and “answer their questions” as you have mentioned. I’ve been debating about going back to school sooner than later and this episode just gave me my answer
Manuela Mulondo I always say this; you are my biggest role model. Thanks for inspiring! Every young woman needs a Manuela to grow and become better. I love you.
Really loved this discussion, I also decided to be a stay at home mum since my baby's development was also very stunted the first 3 months of her life and the maids were not bothered and believe me I changed them till id had enough. I love the bond I have now formed with my daughter a year and a half later :-)
She totally flipped them...the strong opinions in the first segment were getting me to start to feel a certain type of way but at least she clearly stressed my divergent views...Loved this
27:38 Fear of Loss should not deter you from your "StayHome" dreams. Its not good to live in Fear..fear of what-could-be.We have to be positive in life expecting the best to happen. But loss can happen to anyone whether you are StayHome or a Career woman, the shock can have the same impact even when you are a career person.Ofcourse when you are StayHome...you may think about the loss of 'Financial support'.But being stayHome doesnt mean..you went into..."a vegetable state of uselessness". No! you still have skills and your mental and emotional capacity is even better. You have more clarity and can make drastic decisions without fear. There are examples of stayHomes that lost their husbands and came out better ..for example; One of Uganda's least-known wealthiest women was once a StayHomeMum.Her husband had asked her to stay home.He was a businessman trying to get his 'act-together' but he died suddenly. And she was left with Unfinished business dreams but worse of all..Huge Loans. This woman pulled through...and guess what ? she was less advantaged than most elite Mums because she was a primary school-drop out.But right now she is the proprietor of a chain of Hotels (Brovad)...her husband died when the hotel construction was at foundation level. You can find her story(4th last story)...here is an excerpt of Sarah Nabukalu Kiyimba www.newvision.co.ug/new_vision/news/1314989/ugandas-richest-women But she pulled through just as well as Mrs Maggie Kigozi who also lost her husband while a career woman. The husband was a founding director of Pepsi in Uganda, she too had a young family and had to fill his shoes. StayHomeMums can also do excellently after loss.
Team stay home... Made that decision simply to be by my children and do mum. But eventually run a business at home to help supplement family income. Totally loving it. And my girl is thriving since the decision
Thank you Bump Love ladies for lifting the lid on a "conflict" which several working mothers struggle with-- i.e. parenting and work. Pearl, I like the candidness and boldness with which you make the case ( as it were) for the choice you have made and debunk stereotypes surrounding the role you have chosen to prioritize. Considering backlash working mothers receive for stepping away from their careers, I believe such conversations go along way to popularize and make such choices common place.
could give this episode a 1000 likes for this episode, like you Pearl and all the ladies and agree with all your reasons but its all choice and what fulfills one
Can you talk about : --- Post Partum Depression, what causes it? what is it? Does surrounding family support help to reduce it? and --- Potty training...when shd it start? Is it different for boys and girls.
