I hate people who make comments like this. The game is in fact still about finding alien signals, that never changed, this is a secret far from the main objective of the game. Do you even see how far out of your way you have to go to find this? No average player is going to just magically stumble upon the exact steps to pull this off unless they're actively looking for it.

There's two kinds of puzzles in VotV, ones that the average player is expected to solve on their own, and ones that seemed made for the community to figure out as a whole. This is the latter.
I really don't get the point of adding stuff like this, which is only going to ever be figured out by people who tear the code apart. Which cheapens the experience in the first place...
I feel like this is the sort of game that would still have unsolved mysteries after 10 years of being out

Yeah, the fuel cans seemed to just scatter / delete things. The red barrel is all that is needed. :)
