aw this made me so sad. I no longer live in SA but i used to go here when I was younger with my family so much in early 2000s when I did live there. this video was on my recommended and I wasn't expecting to feel so much nostalgia. thanks for uploading.
I just came back from Rolling Oaks. Today is wednesday. The mall is cringy dead. I want to say only 20 people....lol. All escalators broke, 30% of the shops closed, and food court sucks. It's good for shopping and the dept. stores though and if you don't like crowds!
That's a bummer. I really like that mall. I was happy to see that they did have a Chick-fil-A there. If you would like to subscribe that would be awesome.
Wow this video is bittersweet for me. I used to live in the surrounding area as a kid so my mother and I used to go here from time to time. The last I went was back in 2018 and it looks it's declined even more since then. I haven't lived in SA for years now. Seems like every time I come home to visit I discover a piece of my childhood chipped away *le sigh*
Thanks for commenting. I feel the same way. There was a mall that I really liked while i was a kid and now it is an abandoned mall. If you would like to subscribe that would be awesome.
Of all the malls in SA that were popular in the 90s when I was a teen, I think this one and River Center are the newest, both built in 1988. Other malls like South Park, North Star, Ingram Park, Central Park, Windsor Park, Crossroads and Mcreeles were all built in the 60's and 70's.
@@johnnyvlogs123 Just liked and subscribed 👍🏼. Was it a weekday? That would explain why it is close to empty. I was watching another video and there was more foot traffic.
@@johnnyvlogs123 Sad indeed. On another note, you should check out Buc-ee's in New Braunfels if you get the chance. Love that place. Keep up the great content 👍🏼
5:38 Those domed skylights and the soft light they let in look so nice!

I vaguely remember going to this mall once or twice a few years ago and had fun exploring it. It's sad to see malls going downhill 😥
What a shame, it was a nice mall
EB Games and Waldenbooks was near food court upstairs. Popular during 1990s.

I just looked it up and apparently the mall is still in operation today, and now I kinda want to go explore it and see what it's like now...
The music was great! It felt moody and like the end of things
Thanks Dawn.
Yes, I quite agree!
ROLLING OAKS MALL SHOULD'VE NEVER GOTTEN RID OF THE MOVIE THEATER AND LUBY'S TO BEGIN WITH

i currently work at this mall lol it’s literally falling apart 💀💀
Iam so sorry that this is happening. Is the chick fil a still there?
@@johnnyvlogs123 yep! the chick fil a is still there :) ! seems to be the most stable establishment in the mall😂

Do you still work there now, and if so, how's the mall holding up?
I was at. Rolling Oaks yesterday and so many stores were closed and there were hardly any people. Why is this happening?
I think that it is because people are ordering goods online. I really liked this mall. It reminds me of the good old days.
Dang, it's empty! When was this filmed?
You should walk the North Star Mall. It is a thriving mall. A good comparison between the 2 malls.
I will be uploading the North Star mall video in a few days. If you would like to subscribe that would be great.
This was filmed about a week ago.

It was on a Wednesday. It was sad that Sears and Macy's were closed.
