  • James Volpe Rotondi tests the new Taylor 814ce Builder's Edition, a grand auditorium cutaway with top-flight hardware and appointments,
    and a well-sculpted midrange that
should sit very nicely in any live country,
Americana, or rock mix. Check out the full review in the March/April 2024 issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine, available at store.acousticguitar.com.

I like how we have to dance around saying that Taylor’s are abrasive and bright, I mean that’s the sound they go for, they messed up by putting V-Class on every single one, I enjoyed the Taylor with X brace, I think they need a few X brace models to help for people who like that sound better

i agree. The v class compresses the sound. I have two taylors, a 2017 314ce and 2015 814ce, before Taylor introduced the v class in 2018 . They are full, bright, and clear. The Taylor sound we all know of. Whenever I had the chance to play the newer models I always ended up disappointed.

To me, the sound is a bit raw...but I think the microphone placement doesn't help.
