Penny has a big moment in this episode, and it sounds like it was hard fought for. I wanted to talk more about it but was worried I'd get it wrong.

I love how confused Penumbra is when she sees the ducks feeding the ducks. It's like that old comic panel of Minnie freaking out when she sees a normal mouse.
I think I even remember that one. 😂
I've accepted goofy is a goof or in some instances a dog nosed human.
You are a walking contradiction.
They do something similar in the Talespin episode because Kit is a bear, but they also have to fight the “Butterbear.” That’s just how their universe works, there’s “human” animals and also regular animals.
Well, primal humans/chimpanzees exist alongside their evolved ansestors/humans.
This episode really nailed the soldier during peacetime paradox. Penny can't relax or relate to others because she spent her whole life as part of a militaristic government, constantly waiting for a major battle. Be it with the Moon bugs that just wanted to feed their babies, or with any instance that the Earth would attack. She spent so much time being suspicious of Della and believing the moon's "we're a planet" propaganda, that not only does she feel empty as a protector when no one needs protecting, she had to go from "Earth BAD" to "Earth maybe not so bad" to seeing her people actually LOVING Earth more than their homeworld. After all, they were civilians that were fed anti-Earth sentiment until Della told them about what they're missing. Penny has to question everything and adjust to being a civilian herself. No wonder why she was flipping out the entire episode.
Speaking of paradoxes, that duck feeding scene beautifully demonstrated the anthro-paradox without saying a word. Also, the appearance of Hamburger Hippo from Darkwing Duck.
3:18 Penumbra's like "How does evolution work on this planet?!"
Dude I see you everywhere! LOL
"Feeding.....the Ducks"
In the Disney world where Dogs like Goofy and Pluto exist, you need to think about it to hard.

I love that Penny calls Webby "Small Della", it's just so cute
I actually forgot to mention this. She calls all the kids "Small Della" or "Blue Della." It's amazing.
Like how cuzian featherlight called them “little Donald’s”
I had to laugh at the "feeding the ducks" gag. That always baffled me with these cartoons.
Frank Angones said on Twitter right after the episode aired that they'd all wanted to do that joke from the start.
That and her trouble with the skates was HILARIOUS. Their world has real dogs and ducks, but also anthropomorphic dogs and ducks. I guess the easiest way to think about it is Scrooge is a Human, and the ducks are chimpanzies. But then you think about the smart Rescue Ranger rodents and it all falls apart, haha.
@@Charok1 But the rescue rangers were specifically hit with an intelligence ray so it still works.
Ryan Lohner They sorta did with the Seagull in the opening shot of the first episode. The Nostalgia Critic even points it out saying "They're all Birds! How does this all work? and when is Pluto going to walk Goofy? It is never explained!"
@@79silentg Goofy's gonna finally experiment on Pluto. There will be answers.
It was also interesting that Penumbra indirectly outed herself while letting down Launchpad (that pause and eye movement in the middle of saying she wasn't interested in dating an "Earth...male"). Gave it a bit of the same vibe as the Kipo/Benson let down scene from Kipo. Misunderstanding addressed, and the openness leads to a friendship
Scrooge McDuck probably never found out about that ferris wheel thing which got me thinking how many of Glomgold schemes has Scrooge just not notice whatsoever because they failed on arrival
probabaly a lot conisdering Scrooge only achknolages the ones that interfear with his adventures
That idea is just hilarious he is so incompetent that Scrooge McDuck never even notices some of his plans
I loved how Penny called Webby and Dewey Small Della and Blue Della respectively. I wonder if she considers all children small versions of their parents or if Della's are special to her.
feeding the ducks...but they are ducks...lol
Loved that scene! XD
That made me chuckle sooo much
ikr i ugly laughed when that happened lmao
Irony
@@EkoBahamut The look on pnumbera's face is perfect!
What I liked the most about this episode was that when Webby explained to her that changes is good and mention her previous life before the triplets arrived, the resturant serve Penny a hamburger! Anyone that remember season 1, one of Webby life long goal was to eat a hamburger! A nice metaphor!
Oh yeah. Great callback.
Launchpad is such a himbo in this episode, and I kind of love it.
Launchpad was so worried about making Penny uncomfortable and crossing her boundaries that he threw himself out of a moving car that he was driving. It's peak himbo energy.
It actually makes me wonder how well him and Storkulese would get along...
@@CouchSpud91
They’d be best buds.
I can imagine those two talking on and on and on about random stuff.
I especially love how they cast Julie Bowen, who almost always plays a down-to-earth straightman to a bunch of goofy characters, as someone like Penny. Her situation in this episode also makes her sound uncannily like Claire from Modern Family a few times.
Agreed.
Everybody: Lunaris will return/be recruited by F.O.W.L.
Me: Is he even alive?
I don't know, we don't even know if they survive in the space void
@@apollyon6855 and even if his species can survive in space, the only food he had was a shark.
I kind of wish Della was in this episode more. It would've been nice to see her hang with Penumbra, Webby and Dewey, and explore more of their respective relationships all at once.
With that issue aside, this was still a pretty good episode. Penumbra had a great character arc in finding her place and it was cool how she saved the kids from the falling ferris wheel. That 80s-styled music they played during that scene was the cherry on top. It's also great how they handled the whole 'girl crush turns down guy' situation by making everyone understand each other and stay on good terms.
I also like how they showed the aliens adjusting to life on Earth, like how Gibbous and his wife were wearing 90s fashion and adopted a Rottweiler (which was really cute). Not to mention Gibbous' interactions with Glomgold were entertaining.
Maybe Lunaris will fall to Earth eventually and battle FOWL on his own terms? Anything's possible.
The Duck gag made me realize a cool fan theory. What if the third eye gem we saw in the episode Double o Duck in You Only Crash Twice, is why this universe has animals that are people yet animals that are still animals. Like ages ago in the Ducktales universe some animals got zapped with the stone and made smart and their ancestors became the people of this universe.
not a bad idea and I could see how it could happen something like light hitting the gem or what ever that is casuing a ray to hit the animal though the question is the size like we see mocky is a mouse but he's as tall as a normal duck
My guess it would be like evolution? Like we’re taller than our ancestors so maybe it just happens over time?
No I'm pretty sure the ducks turned into "humans" like how we did, this is basically confirmed when the timephoon brought an ancestor of clan Mcduck that is a caveman meaning they evolved over time. It may be just the case of like how monkeys evolved into humans but that doesn't mean monkeys don't exist anymore.
I like to think that webby and Dewey are like this world's version of people, and the ducks they are feeding are like monkeys. They are similar but webby and Dewey's species of duck are more evolved
@@MD-lk9lg that actually make more sense
If DuckTales gets a Justice Ducks Penny better be a member.
Or maybe Lunaris will be rescued and recruited by F.O.W.L. so he can get revenge on the Duck family and Penumbra.
Looks like he might be in time to review Let’s Get Dangerous.
To early man
He has to review the trickeing and the forbidden fountain of the foreverglade first
@@thescamman352 two episodes before the one-hour episode next week? Yeah, he's close enough. I wouldn't have expected him to post the review the next day anyway. He's just not that kind of channel.
They missed the perfect opportunity for a Star Trek reference when Webby didn't introduce Penumbra to prune juice.
You forgot to talk about Dewey's rivalry with Timmy Jenkins.
I didn't forget, I just tend to focus on one or two things per video, which means I unfortunately have to leave some things unmentioned! That was fun -- though I don't expect it'll resurface in later episodes.
@@seaniccus That's funny, because people keep saying that Timmy Jenkins makes an appearance in a flashback scene in the next episode.
@@klimmr Oh yeah, the Timmy model is in a mummy costume in Launchpad's flashback -- but that was a flashback to when Launchpad was a kid, so it probably isn't intended to be the same character.
I think Timmy is actually a standard background character who has been used in crowds for a lot of episodes, so that wouldn't surprise me too much, but I meant that I don't think the Dewey Rivalry is going to be an ongoing thing.
I could be wrong, of course! Just felt more like a one-off gag to me.
@jf k The real monsters bit felt like a callback to the original Ducktales episode "Ducky Horror Picture Show."
Penumbra's experience in the amusement park remined me of a Japanese commercial for "Canned Coffee" starring a famous old man. I can picture a similar commercial made from this episode:
"People of this planet have amusement parks to entretain themselves.
It's a very annoying and loud place.
However, you could have fun in there."
I think this is the first time that non-anthropomorphized ducks have appeared in the Ducktales franchise. I could be wrong, though. Magica did have her brother/crow in the 1987 series.
A non-anthro seagull landed next to an anthro seagull fisherman in the first episode.
@@geardog24
But those aren't ducks.
@@gregsanders61 but genetically related though.
@@geardog24
Doesn't make them the same. It's the difference between a domesticated dog and a feral wolf, the docile house cat and the wild lynx. Just because they belong to similar genera doesn't make them the same.
@@gregsanders61 feels like you're purposely missing the point that sentient humanoid animals exist next to regular animals.
Interesting. I didn’t think that much about the looming presence of Lunaris still in Earth’s orbit. But it did remind me that he’s still up there.
Never really thought about him coming back though. But if he does, he may be rescued by FOWL as an attempt to have a leg up on Scrooge’s team. I just don’t see how else he gets down from there.
Surprised you didn't talk about how penny has been confirmed to be a lesbian! The creators talked about it in twitter!
Why does this surprise you?
I thought it was better to let the clip speak for itself! I know that Sam worked really hard to pitch that moment and get it right, so I wanted to leave it in as is. I don't know that I'm qualified to give it extra context, and I'd hate to try and screw something up. It's a completely normal thing and I like that the episode treats it as a completely normal thing. I also really like that launchpad is immediately happy and accepting about it.
And Launchpad's side of this was something I could speak to, since I've been in his place in this situation before.

@@seaniccus Did you notice the Darkwing duck reference with hamburger hippo?
The one thing that brought this down to a B- is Webby. Or more to the point this should be Della helping Penny adjust not Webby.
Last season it dawned on Della she was kind of a jerk friend to Penny. She was so caught up in herself she didn't notice Penny kinda hated her. This should have been the episode Della addresses that. She should have recognized the same drama she went through on the Moon. And worked hard to make sure history doesn't repeat itself. Della should have done the 1002 things she couldn't wait to do on Earth with Penny to show why she wanted to get back here so badly. Instead she's banging away on the rocket as oblivious as ever. That wasted opportunity was hard to look past on this episode.
Lunaris is the biggest threat that the Ducks have ever faced. Good news, he's become a true Disney villain; a character that I love to hate. Bad news, he was such a good villain, that I have no idea how the Villains of Season 3 are going to top that. Stealing the world from under McDuck's nose? What does that even mean?
We will just have to see...
maybe the organization will try to bring lunaris to their side
@@mynamedontmatter4796 But, F.O.W.L. is doing all of this because the Moonvasion happened in the first place.
@@klimmr oh i forgot about that you are right
People claim that Lunaris died due to starvation after all that time just sitting in orbit, but one thing that the episode brought up that no one else considered is that Penumbra had been on Earth around the same time as Lunaris had been in space and she was on a hunger strike and she survived. Ergo, there is a chance that he is still alive and may have a greater role to play in the season.
Since Magica has her magic back, I'm hoping she teams up for some moonlander shenanigan revenge. That will fail, ofc, but it'd be fun.
*"Good boy"* absolutely perfect.
Edit: _"Feeding the ducks."_
Edit 2: Poor Launchpad.
Interesting trivia: Good Boy is a GIRL dog. On Twitter they mentioned they had a bigger introducing Good Boy, including that she's female; but it got cut for time.
Whoops, put my response in a reply thread instead of up here.
Biggest problem with the episode: Della should be the one helping Penny not Webby. Webby and the boys are fine, but this would build on Della's character of being oblivious. And it would build on her feelings of isolation on the Moon, by helping someone in a similar spot. This episode screamed Della. So it was disappointing that she's stuck working on the rocket.
@jf k exactly, that's what I thought too. Plus, besides being on a planet that's not yours, Della's situation is completely different from Penny's. Della was alone on the moon while Penny is not because the other moonlanders are there too. Della's struggle was trying to get back home, not adapting to living on the moon and she didn't feel the need to change who she is either.
Della was "stuck" on helping her with the rocket because she knows that's what her friend wants. If she tried to introduced Penny into earth fun, Penny would be even more reluctant to do it because Della knows that's not Penny's priority.
The highlight of this episode for me was Penumbra's theme. I really hope they release a full version, it's so good!
What about Timmy Jenkins? While watching the episode, I had assumed Dewey's issue with T.J. was parallel to Launchpad's issue with Penny. Only to be proving wrong, when T.J. was being so smug to Dewey towards the end.🤣🤣🤣
oh yeah~ i keep forgetting this episode. it's a good episode, but with the Halloween one out and the Darkwing one soon.... it's hard to remember every episode.
i found the halloween one a bit disappointing
I don't think we will get another season finale with Lunaris. It was clearly pointed out, that FOWL is main antagonist. But meaby FOWL will try to use Lunaris, in one way or another, to steal the Earth. But I have no idea how would it work out.
THIS IS *ACTUALLY* A GOOD REVIEW, GOOD WORK ON IT SEANICCUS!😉
What if F.O.W.L. finds a way to bring Lunaris back to earth, with promises of rebuilding his empire if he joined them?
And how the heck are they supposed to get him down
It makes me so sad realizing we won’t get to see the end of the moonlander’s story because the show is ending...
I can't wait to see Don Karnage and General Lunaris
I think General Lunaris is dead
@@gianlucacolangelo6578 I don't think so - because in cartons like this even villains can't die, because it's funny cartoon for kids. Even Della still alive on moon, because it's very cruel for kids
@@MariaZolotyh Della had the gums to keep her alive
He is just stuck in a broken spaceship in the middle of space (or orbitating around the moon)
So unless they find a way to bring him back... I am sure he is dead
Karnage episode already happened, but DO NOT WATCH IT. There is a new voice actor and he sounds terrible compared to the original. The worst old character the new show brought back.
The villain I want to see is Khan doing something dastardly! haha
I would love to see a Scott Pilgrim vs the World episode. Where Launchpad's many mysterious and powerful girlfriends seek vengeance against Penny.
LP: "Did you tell them you don't want to date Earth-males?"
Penny: "And miss out on these sweet fights?"
No mention of the very 80's music? That was my favorite part.
Everything with the moonlanders is 1980s! What's up with that?!
That's because 80's music arrived later at the moon, because of the distance. 🤣
@@seaniccus I believe it’s due to Della being their only reference for Earth culture at first, and since she was on the moon so long the moonlanders’ idea of earth things is a little dated.
And there is one thing what people don't understand about friendship. In one old movie, there was line which was
"In life is much easier to get new girlfriend/boyfriend than new best buddy/friend."
Many believe Penny's line confirms she's an LGBTQ+ character
According to Sam King, who wrote the episode, that's exactly what she meant
Yeah it's Comfirmed that Penumbra's a Lesbian
mobile.twitter.com/SamanthaCKing/status/1310796963718201344
Yup, Sam wrote online that she made a point of getting that moment in there, even though it seemingly took some work to get it approved and it wasn't as overt as she would have liked!
@@seaniccus Which is kind of weird as they apparently had no problem with Violet being a "sister from a couple misters."
@@Rmlohner have said misters had lines yet?
I think the final shot of the moon was just meant as a nod to how far Penny has come. I don't see Lunaris coming back - Magica was clearly set up to return, but Lunaris stuck in orbit feels more like closing the book on him. Maybe if he got some kind of substantial revision, like how Taurus Bulba became the Steerminator in Darkwing Duck.
Also, I totally didn't register that they were feeding ducks until you pointed it out. I have to say, I feel like the writers acknowledge that the characters are birds just often enough to be jarring. Like, I did a double-take when they said that Della left before the triplets were born, since that's impossible for humans.
Did anyone notice the place Hamburger Hippo from Darkwing Duck?
I love them finally addressing the moon launders and seeing webby and penny interact. I would like what happens with Lunarus to go either way.
Penny might be acting as a war veteran that can't handle being out of the war zone and being a civilian in peace times
"I just do not wish to date an Earth....male."
Meanwhile, at DuckNORAD: "Sir! Something MASSIVE just appeared on our Gaydar!"
I kinda doubt that Lunaris being stuck in a High Earth Orbit is going to become like Henry being shut up in the Tunnel but it would be funny if plays a key role in stopping F.O.W.L.'s machinations.
Lunaris will return at the worst time possible and have more issues because he’s been alone this whole time.
When only one person does not like a video you know it's good
The crew confirmed that the "earth *pause* male" part was to imply she was entirely down to date earth females
You forgot to talk about how the moon guy called the safety inspector
"Mr. Glomgold! I called the "Hahaha safety inspector!"
"I DIDN'T REALLY WANT YOU TO CALL THE SAFETY INSPECTOR! WHY DO YOU THINK I USED AIR QUOTES?"
Launchpad now has more friends to show Darkwing Duck.
Wow, I didn't expect to get so much videos from you in such little time, thank you !
So Moon Aliens have a contract only with Duckberg, but not the rest of the world, heh? That means Aliens can still try to conquer the rest of the United States, can't they?
I really liked this episode, as I feel it should have been addressed way earlier in the season as it was the biggest question left on Moonvasion! (other than FOWL themselves but they have the whole season to explain) but it now makes sense it took so long as to tie this to Glomgold's latest cockamamie scheme.
BTW, I got so annoyed by Dewey in this episode
This episode was so good! also I liked the interactions between Webby and Penny, they could relate to each other a bit and that was cool. I don't know about Lunaris tho, maybe if he survives he could help F.O.W.L. or something? I have no idea but I'm excited to see what's next!
A quick nod to Penny's Queerness would have been cool
This was another favorite episode of mine for a number of reasons. Launchpad was in top comedic form here, Webby's attempts to help Penny have fun and feel at home were nice, Penumbra's story was a fun and interesting one to go on, and Dewey was fun in his small subplot. But a personal highlight for me was Glomgold's relationship with Gibboous, his Moonlander lackey, since, unlike Owlson, Gibbous is too innocent to realize just how bad a guy Glomgold is. Which leads to some hilarious interactions and hi-jinx as Glomgold is very blatantly scheming and yet Gibbous just doesn't get it, since he's too trusting. And in turn, Glomgold shows he actually has a heart deep down inside when he doesn't berate Gibbous for foiling his plans, which is a really nice moment for the character, one we typically don't ever get to see from him. It's one of my favorite Glomgold moments and episodes just for how much fun the interactions are, capped off with a rare nice moment for Glomgold.
This episode was all about bringing in new viewers in a delightful way that harkens back to classic comic books that always tried to get new fans
i think Lunarus may conspire with Fowl.
Considering how rockerduck turned out to be a very pathetic villain.

The only time the anthro animals treating normal animals like normal animals made sense was whe mini said

8:45 It's possible he could be part of this season, IF he is recruited by F.O.W.L... but I'm convinced they're actually working their way to the Justice Ducks, potentially for next season. If they do the Justice Ducks, that means they need to do the Fearsome Five and these little character teases could be setup for that. If Penumbra for example is part of the Justice Ducks roster, then she will need a counterpart. Lunaris could be that counterpart recruited by Negaduck, who has been working in the shadows since last season.
Think about this: This season has been introducing us to these characters who clearly have super hero potential. The next episode, as of this post, is the one hour Darkwing Duck Special. We have Gizmoduck, Darkwing Duck and now Lena is coming into her own as a sorceress and Penumbra has accepted that she can be a protector here on Earth as well. I have a feeling this season will feature the "Justice Ducks" forming to battle F.O.W.L. near the end of the season and the end tease for next season will be Negaduck putting together his own Fearsome Five. So next season we could get...
Justice Ducks/Fearsome Five
Darkwing Duck - Negaduck
Gizmoduck - Mark Beaks
Lena - Magica De Spell
Penumbra - Lunaris
I'm not sure who number five would be though. Boyd is the most obvious choice, but I feel as if he is more of Gizmoduck's ward than he is his own hero at the moment.
I just want one thing from Lunaris returning: 1v1, him vs Donald. No one threatens Donald's family and gets away with it
I think F.O.W.L. Might recruit Lunaris so they can use his tactics to one up the duck family
I think that there are our-world versions of animals as well as anthropomorphic animals in the Ducktales universe
So many loose threads remaining. I'll go out on a limb and assume a fourth season is in the works... 😏😌
