*Hey guys! Today we have a real treat! I think this battle right here has to be the best battle of 2017 so far. It was so epic and so much fun! Also, I am joined with TheRyanKing in the battle and in the commentary. I have also started a Patreon which you can check out right here: **www.patreon.com/pixelatedapollo* So the Battle takes a little while to get started so here are some time markers Small Cav Skirmishes: 8:20 - 13:50 Line battle starts: 14:30 If you can only watch one part of the battle its this part right here! it is SOOOO epic! 31:00
38:20 A few wounded men were dragged back into the centre, where they continued to load their own muskets and those of the fallen. When a man fell, his musket and some cartridges were tossed back into the centre, where a motley group of bandsmen, stretcher-bearers, gunners, chaplains, chefs and clerks, even some drummer boys, loaded them, and passed them to the front, as well as the wounded. One old veteran snarled to be propped up against the doorway, where he feigned death and bayonetted an officer and two men as they passed over him before being overwhelmed and beaten down.
In 1815, as the Emperor Napoleon regains the throne of France in an unexpected coup d’etat, his stepson Eugene de Beauharnais launched a coup if his own in Piedmont Sardinia and made himself Dictator of Italy and a Marshal of Italy. He allies himself with his stepfather during the War of the Seventh Coalition, planning to make himself King of Italy after his victory. The British, having most of their troops in Belgium fighting Napoleon himself, sent troops from Canada under General Drummond who had cut their teeth fighting the Americans and had them march into Italy. They paid Naples to send men to support them. Meanwhile, a French and Italian-backed coup in Hanover made Napoleon King of Hanover, replacing the old and insane George III, the British king. Napoleon used the Hanoverian troops to outflank the British and Russians during the Battle of Waterloo at just the right time and rout their army. He then had the Hanoverians force-march South to support Eugene while he had his own army march into the Rhineland to fight the Austrians and Russians. Two great battles are fought, and the victor of this, the Battle of Giano, will have access to southern France or the valuable trade routes of the Mediterranean. The battle was a decisive but costly victory for the British and Neopolitans, however it did little to change the major strategic situation of the war itself as the much larger campaigns were being fought between Napoleon and his many enemies in Bavaria. However, the stand of the elite riflemen became a legend in Italian history, being used as propaganda for four hundred years after the battle took place.
Paintballwizard This is NOT historically correct. He mentions that Napoleon was victorious at Waterloo in this reality, and there really wasn't any fighting in Italy during the War of the Seventh Coalition.
Paintballwizard It’s not correct. It’s an alternate history scenario. I don’t think Hanover would actually defect to the French, Eugene could have successfully seized Italy, etc.
DiplexHeated please start playing NTW III again we miss your content! My clan mates and I would like to see it! Two of my clan mates are Swedes, do it for the Swedish brotherhood!!!!
School, work, social life... lame shit like that. I've always wanted to grow up 2 be a NEET and gayme my life away but I guess I'm not cut out 4 it. But more vidyas are on the way now that I have more free time.
32:40 And the men exposed at the tip of the V faced an incessant, withering hail of fire. Some men fell, and desperately tried to continue reloading their muskets. One man continued to load and fire, even as the cartridges in his ammo belt started going off, firing lead balls into his abdomen. One officer clutched his jaw in one hand, after it had been shaved by a pistol bullet, and was on one knee, holding his fist in the bleeding thigh of a sergeant, who grimaced and cursed away the pain until he fell. The Neapolitans were bled by the men that stood, and showed no mercy for the wounded, who were trampled, spat on, and stabbed to death as they were marched over. One man tied another wounded man to himself with his lucky rope from his grandfather, and started crawling away, pulling his comrade. A Neapolitan corporal staved in the head of the more wounded man with the butt of his musket, and laughed maliciously as in vain the other man continued to haul the limp body. An officer shot the crawling man in the back and left him to die. The Valiant men of the V, as they were called, are remembered in local folklore almost as demi-gods, and are revered as such. To this day children still lay flowers where those men fought, and fell.
I love this type of battle, not over multiple miles of area and locations. I do prefer the main group to group with no Huge Beasts which this displayed wonderfully. You guys have a good rhythm together and it seemed fun, it left me smiling. I realize this was a pretty special battle but your ending is more than overzealous. Thanks and keep it up. (another long term sub)
ozzyand thedoors The problem with Italy in Napoleon is that it's just divided into separate states, none of which are playable in the base game. It's really hard to find Italian gameplay.
I will admit I'm not usually the biggest fan of your dual commentaries. In this instance however, your two perspectives, and just, the pure enthusiasm for the sesh/game really gave this video that relatable human flair. It made the post combat banter feel like I was part of the conversation you two were having. I dig it man. Good stuff. TheRyanKing will definitely get a sub from me for this. Pixelated Apollo, you're knocking it out of the park! Keep it up man!
Oh My God! This was freakin amazing I had goosebumps at the end!! You two need to play together more often. Thank you for linking this in your podcast vid other wise I wouldn’t have found it!!
43:41 Sounded like the intro of a Sabaton song, epic. I loved that mini roast at end lol. Great battle too, truly displayed what the TW games are all about.
Reinstalled Napoleon today before watching this video. So glad I did. Warhammer Total War would be greatly improved if the battles lasted longer like the older titles. [faction unit variety is important too. Looking at you, lazy units with shields that are somewhat different than their bleb brothers...] Send the entire battalion over that ridge! It ends today! *glorious sound of musket fire*
Apollo, Ryan King, If either of you ever do a campaign let's play you need to name a character after that guy in the doorway and a unit after those soldiers in the ruins.
Also, that was SUCH a good battle!!! It brought me back to Total War!!! I just stopped playing it because of all the crappy new games!!! Then THIS!!!! My god!!! ''Twas amazing!!!! Loved it man, keep it up!!!!!
Pixie-This was amazing please upload more of this MOD. I am totally with you 100% with the way that the historical games add to the viewing pleasure. I enjoy seeing these armies overcome adversity! This was awesome!!
Sounds of men screams echoed though the ruins, men whispering the names of wives and children, they held to their ground though the thick and thin. In years a statue made of gold in the window of the church, "To the brave whom sacrificed them self to push back the men whom took their lives, and home, rest now men for you have died with honor."
Omg what a glorious battle. I think this one is my favorite so far. I dont care that you are lose this battle because you are the true winners of this epic battle. Man i cant get over it i am so hyped after i watching this. Thank you apollo :D
I absolutely love the Napoleonic wars Pixel posts, I was getting kinda sad he hadn't posted once in awhile. But now we have 2 amazing battles posted withing the same week :)
Warhammer is nice, but historical Total War is where it's at. One of the greatest moments of my gaming career was in Medieval 2, commanding a Venetian army of 2,000 in defense of a citadel against a combined army of 12,500 HRE and Danish troops. The battle lasted well over an hour, with me gaining victory with only 15 soldiers surviving. My general was dead, I had no arrows left, the streets and walls were covered with bodies, but my 15 exhausted heroes climbed what was left of the battlements and cheered as the surviving enemy armies routed from the field. A glorious day. You dont; get that from other strategy games.
The statue of the man in the door shall be made of pure gold with a victory arch above it to represent the location from whence his fame came. As his comrades fell around him he held the door against the oncoming horde , letting none pass, as a rock splitting the waves of the sea. May his courage forever be remembered!
Oh God, this construction what you show us at first time looks like in film "Patriot" ,you know, when US do there last epic charge, its fantastic, i love it:)

"If I caught him with his pants down I'd go in"
Apollo starts giggling - legend

Life of a soldier door man! Do it!!!
The man the myth the legend the guy standing in the doorway
I just love all the tactical positioning at the start...almost as satisfying as the sound of crackling muskets
Some say "il soldato alla porta" is still firing today.
If Ryan King is a legend then does that make Pixie a religion?
He is actually Jesus. Look at his hair!
That intro was so great.
ALL HAIL THE RYANKING!!! apollo and ryan, the Dreamteam is back!!
reminds me of the 10000 subscribers battle
the legend is back!!!
Before the names of some units there is a little square. That is how you tell if a unit can form square.
11:32 "but you can see I've already got my Italian, err, line infantry pushing forward, ready to embrace" death, yes, to embrace death.

This was awesome. Sometimes a heroic defeat is much better than a boring win.
Warhammer is nice, but historical Total War is where it's at.

The statue of the man in the door shall be made of pure gold with a victory arch above it to represent the location from whence his fame came. As his comrades fell around him he held the door against the oncoming horde , letting none pass, as a rock splitting the waves of the sea. May his courage forever be remembered!

I was smiling towards the end of the battle. Epic battle. Best defense ever.
I hope you do more battles with this guy,I find it a lot more interesting than when it's just you or you with someone else
