From my experience last year - on Hulk, definitely not allowed - saw people being told to put their belt bags into the locker. Can't even have your phone in your pocket.

Hi. If my park ticket is on my cell phone with a bar code, how would I re-open the locker after a ride if my cell is in the locker? Do they give you a pin number? Or, will they give me a physical ticket when I first arrive at the park? We're going to Islands next week. Thanks.
If you’re going to use your tickets as a barcode you may have to ask for a physical ticket for the lockers specifically! They’ve told our friends that they wouldn’t need a physical ticket, but you definitely need a barcode of some sort for the lockers

I would assume it’s because the rides compared to Disney are more intense and they go over walkways! They don’t want anything to fall out in general, but especially not on peoples heads!
The rental lockers are always close to the entrance of the park. So in Islands of Adventure, they are to the left as soon as you walk through the gates (near the strollers and wheelchairs). They only have the large lockers. Universal Studios has both large and family lockers and they are also near the entrance. As soon as you’re in the park, you can either go to the left (near the exit) or to the right (by first aid).

I love my HP loungefly but I get so annoyed that I have to use the lockers at every ride!

On the ones that don’t require lockers, the 2L should be fine!
Obviously Hulk, Velocicoaster, and Rip Ride you can’t bring anything!

Can you bring a backpack on the non-locker rides?
@parkdaze what do you recommend for water bottles. You are allowed to bring in to refill. What do you do eith those on rides?

You can get a physical ticket! Also, any barcode works, so you can also use your barcode on your ID if you want!
