Uuuuhhh, I'd like to cast my vote right here and now that I actually, at lest sitting here thinking about it, think I would LOVE to see an episode of Rick and Morty grind to a dead halt just for Rick to look into _the camera_ and say "Wait, seriously though.... Guys.... You gotta believe women". No, I don't think the show needs to go out of it's way to address toxic fans nor n*zi fans nor misogynist fan, etc etc. The show really can just be the show without any moral faults in their "inaction" regarding the zeitgeist or w/e. At least I think. Like, The Big Bang theory should feel responsible if they reinforced sexist stereotypes, but not if some sexist dude watches it and goes "HA!, ikr, of course the males are the smort ones", many friend groups irl are gender disproportionate, and its not sexist to make up a fake group of science loving friends who have one female neighbor who doesn't intuit vector functions. RnM is full of sarcasm. If some of the people watching don't get some of said sarcasm and walk away thinking they really are the smartest people on the planet (or that women something something sexism), I really don't think the next episode needs to be about fixing the mental frameworks of the 12 most toxic and ignorant viewers. THAT SAID, of course you can work in a way to be funny in taking just a quick sec to say "Hey, uuuuh, women are actually people tho". You shouldn't feel limited in that other direction either. At least, I think, atm
I watched Rick and Morty and liked Harmon's creation. But this privilege talk is upsetting. It is all anyone talks about and it is demoralizing and not interesting. And not funny. Minorities are hurt by all this privilege talk. And this interviewer seems fake.
The privilege talk is annoying me TOO, everybody suddenly has a pre-prepared poverty riddled, neglect filled, abuse ridden, oppressor persecuted origin story in their back pocket these days that they're making any excuse and stretching any little comment into a segway to share with anyone who's currently trapped in a shitty conversation with them. Its like the only respectable, "in thing" to be right now is poor and abused, so everybody is either being super vocal about all their personal shit or stretching the truth, exaggerating, and lying [*cough *cough *Ron] to try and get people to think they are or grew up poor and abused. Don't get me wrong if someone has something dynamic to say in relation to their traumatic past I'm all ears, like david goggins etc. But when people start sourcing their trauma simply to win arguments and be right in lue of ACTUALLY having something relevant to say that logically makes them right... I'm just like shiiiiiiiit we're all so fucked..... AGREE WITH ME BECAUSE I'VE SUFFERED BEFORE AND AM WILLING TO BE VOCAL ABOUT IT INFACT I ACTUALLY INSIST ON BEING VOCAL ABOUT IT ESPECIALLY WHEN IT SAVES ME FROM HAVING TO ADMIT I MAY BE WRONG ABOUT SOMETHING OR SIMPLY AM NOT CERTAIN!
