Royama's breaks are some of the craziest! Back-fist ice block breaks? The 3"x3" post with his shin is something I saw at a World Open or All Japan before '05.. can't remember the event, but I remember that it was even thicker then. He took about 10 full force tries at it and the thing finally broke.. he walked away from it without a limp or anything.
Kyokushin are soo Brutal for Modern Japan accept and Oyama have to turn the style more soft for Average People Learn, Ancient Kyokushin are soo Ruthless and the training a Hell.
Osu is like the man said a response in the positive but it's real meaning is taken from the word Oshishinobu which means to perseverance under pressure.
I'm a gamer, i remember i always went to this computershop when i was still 12 i think. I didn't know that the owner of that shop knows karate, then he starts to teach us with my two friends at night the basics of it. And he let us watch these kidns of videos and he was mentioning this mas oyamas thing which i do not understand well because he can't speak tagalog well. it's an awesome experience, i wonder where he is now because we already left that place and moved into another house.
Osu the definition of Brilliance & manhood masculinity was a great thing and before this woke garbage in this me too nice and see this is back when life was just great to live when it was based on your skills work ethic and your will to thrive and overcome not one on your cell phone or act like a crybaby or be overly sensitive about every little teeny tiny thing
HIS WAY OF TEACHEN WAS MY LIFE I MASTER ALL HIS KICKING TECHNEQ. EVEN LEAPING OVER CARS. I COMBINE 7 MORE ARTS WITH IT NOW AND CALL IT. HOLY-TE-KARATE-MEAN COMPLEAT HAND. HE WAS MY BIGEST EDMIRE
@evilscotsman88 It is shortened from osu-shinobu. A greeting, sign of respect. Shonobu means patience. - In constant training. Basically means I'll do my best. Osu!
The greatest korean / choi young uei (mas oyama), kim chung cha (seiji kanamura) jo il sam, jo tae un (oyama sigeru, oyama yatsuhiko), noh cho ueng (royama hatsuo) mun jang gyu (matsui shokei) etc. . etc. .
@matrixgonzo It comes from Osu Shinobu, and has more meanings than just YES. But at least, I think, it´s never ment as a greeting like you´ld say HELLO. :)
@evilscotsman88 "Osu". It is used in different situations so that the people on the side may seem confusing. Comes from the compound, "Oshii shinobu" which means "resist pressure". It implies a willingness to endure under any pressure to limit our endurance. Here you go bro..The whole explenation ;) OSU!
0:49 Ancient Kyokushin are the only style of Karate that train the head to the limit absolut and I doubt other styles of Karate or even modern Kyokushin do that.
its not karate people who say they found real jiu jutsu.though its mostly come from shaolin chin na.becuz shaolin and tai chi they have these techniques which are taught in bjj.karate has grappling background like tegumi, bunkai.it also teaches submission grappling, joint locks for self defense which are quite similar to the grappling techniques which you learn in bjj.they only know strikes but even then they dont know how to deal with takedowns using stances which helps you from being taken down
The first character, O, means to push, and symbolizes one hundred percent effort. The second Character, SU, means to endure. Combined, OSU, is a pledge to do one's very best and to endure. However, SU by itself can also mean "to be silent," and the character is made up one of the radicals meaning "blade" and "heart." The Japanese idea of endurance, therefore, encompasses being silent, even if your heart is cut with a blade.
Believe it or not, u can pull these kicks off in a street fight if you're good enough. Problem is, most aren't. Im pretty sure that the fighters in the video could with no problem. Lets u know how humble and respectful you have to be of all styles. Every style has practitioners that will force you to.
Opinions are opinions, but to call Bruce arrogant is just stupid though. Yeah people say that shit all the time, how Bruce Lee only did stuff on the movies but they don't realize how good of shape he was in..He pretty much crafted his body for fighting just like Oyama. I honestly think if the two actually fought it would be fair game.
I didn't realize how POWERFUL AND IMMERSIVE Kyokushin was....it's tempting me to go back to my dojo and sign up again after 7 long years.
Bravo! Kyokushin is the best Karate.
Much respect for kyokushin karate from a muay thai fighter the best karate
OSU from Punjab
I'm watching this video in 2019 after 10years of posting
me too, brother. Much respect and R.I.P Master Oyama. Sensei was - without a doubt - decades ahead of his time.
i find it sweet how my senseis (and shihan collins) do the exact same warmup. My senseis have been taught by shihan collins who was taught by sosai.
So hence, delving into the movie "Bloodsport", part of the "kumite" (or full-contact) aspect of martial arts in the movie came from Kyokushin karate.
Osu. My sosaj Oyama.

woowww..the senior student i think very lucky, was trained directly with Grandmaster Mas Oyama.

Sport Kyokushin are basically the soft version of Ancient Kyokushin in 60s Elbows, Punchs in the face, Throws, Headbutt are allowed in Oyama Karate.
Kyokushin means Ultimate Truth that means the fighters of that style use every fight skill that are effetive.

A lot of that footage is not Mas Oyama. The one with the longer hair/bob cut catching the sword is actually Soshu Shigeru Oyama

OSU is derived from osu no seishin, roughly translated into endure through willpower and is the basics for the philosophy within kyokushinkai
