All I gotta say is the lead singer makes me want to sing, the guitarists make me want to play guitar, and the drummer makes me want to drum the hell out of it. THIS is Rock 'n' Roll!
I remember Letterman after the break still gushing over the Hives, "I just wanna say a little something about The Hives; that's all we're looking for, is for someone to come in here and do THAT" with Paul adding "That's a show band!" Wish I could find the clip. Rare to see Dave get so blown away by a musical act like that.
I would like to take this time to apologize to all the loyal fans of The Hives. I once was a loyal fan myself, but I became distracted with less worthy music, and stoped listening to them. Tonight however while surfing youtube, I found this video, and have remembered the amazing sound The Hives were capable of, and I promise you all, that I shall resume listening to this unique, yet kick-ass band, and once again become a loyal fan, like all of you.
Äsch, it happens. It's just a natural thing for a music appreciator to wander around finding other new music worlds to experience, but we always come back to the music special in our hearts. Right now I'm all back into Blind Guardian. I haven't been here since 2002. It feels great being back here again and I love every minute of it.
Until you have seen these guys live, you have no idea just how good they are. They blew me away. Great showmanship that you don't see from today's bands. Rock on Hives.
Maybe because they're Swedish? Easier to miss a foreign act than a domestic one normally. Most of us over here in Sweden know about them, even people not interested in their music.
The camera work is amazing here because they have something to work with - The Hives are so animated it's amazing. Definitely one of the best musical guests he's had, and I love how Dave gets super pumped and psyched afterward. Classic moment.
i attended musicians institute in the early 90s...a great music school with great musicians from all over the world...but those players from the scandinavian area...especially the drummers, were mind blowing...must be something in their water...that being said, the hives rock, they are a real fire breathing rock N roll band. \M/
this makes me want to be in a band so bad......that performance was flawless....that one part when he matches his voice perfect with the guitar....that is amazing....matched perfectly......5 stars
I love there guitar tones! Clean is so underrated. Sounds great on You tube. You can even focus on Dr Destructo's bass. These guy's are a whole bucket of fun... Long live the Hives!
This band is marvelous, apart the happy and involving vibe they always make out I feel spellbound and magically caressed by their shouts, they scream so loud and I love listening to those spacious voices which are the most important characterisitc in their style. Even being from the northern they proved that a foreign band can supply a good work and that faith and dedication on music will always be commended and rewarded, honestly!
I love the big man...it's like, okay you've got to repeat this chord for the enitre song...and he just makes every moment his own. Rocking it out all the way.
With an album called 'Your New Favourite Band' and songs like 'the hives are law you are crime', I think that whole 'Swagger and ego' is part of the act. They've always had that attitude and it suits the very well.
members from the hives, the vines, the strokes, the white stripes should make a rock supergroup album. best bands from the early 2000's by far. miss the naughtys (00's)
Watched Letterman from the start at NBC to the end at CBS...thought this was one of the best rock performances ever on his show. Great stuff from real, actual musicians. Thanks for posting this.
A conversation of The Hives member at their beginning : - Hey we really need a badass singer - What do you think about cloning a 1968 version of Mick Jagger ? - That would be killer !
All I gotta say is the lead singer makes me want to sing, the guitarists make me want to play guitar, and the drummer makes me want to drum the hell out of it. THIS is Rock 'n' Roll!
And the bass man ...uff
The lead singer reminds me of Jagger… Totally committed to the song.
everyone always forgets the poor bass players ;(
@@FernandoMartinez-xw6se How can you miss the bass like.. LISTEN TO THAT FUCKING BASS.
@@kjmorley He's like a mix between Iggy Pop and Mick Jagger
It's 2023 and I still can't get enough of The Hives.
The Hive - Bogus Operandi
The Hives - Bogus Operandi
And now they're back
A damn force of nature
Sweden represent! 🇸🇪

Maybe if we're nice we can ask Don Giller about it
''Hello people! We are the hives as the man said''
HAHAHA XD
These guys know what they’re doing. Perfect performance.
Definitely agree! Two years after your original comment and no dislikes!
Love that drummer, he always hits hard, not afraid to beat the shit out of his kit.
He hits those drums like they owe him money!!!!
The Rolex of drummers
His name is Christian Grahn aka Chris Dangerous.
Almost read kid instead of kit.
@@BOTiTTE 😂😂😂😂
As a swede I gotta say we did a good job here.
Dam straight u did
Yep....plenty good music from Sweden mate.
Yup. You took Skåne but gave us all so much great music. We’re even now. 😅
@@futuristica1710 You can have Skåne back any time!
You were also responsible for The Nomads, who were doing this a decade before The Hives!

Did you become a worthy fan again?
Yeah what happened?
We all end up coming back to this sanctuary.
Äsch, it happens. It's just a natural thing for a music appreciator to wander around finding other new music worlds to experience, but we always come back to the music special in our hearts. The Hives brought me here
Sounds exactly the same live as it does in the music video.. Amazing
Ethan Bradberry 90% the same either way amazing
Great musicians.
It doesn't, but it still sounds good
I feel the same way; amazing!
Dave Letterman has an appreciation for ALL good music!
Greatest live band is an understatement!!! Hives are Law!
Until you have seen these guys live, you have no idea just how good they are. They blew me away. Great showmanship that you don't see from today's bands. Rock on Hives.
15 years later, i saw them live today and it's the best show i've been to
Saw them in 2002, and again last night, and they are still THE greatest band going.
I'm 72 and how did I ever miss these guys ? I Have been following them now.
Maybe because they're Swedish? Easier to miss a foreign act than a domestic one normally. Most of us over here in Sweden know about them, even people not interested in their music.
This is what a rock band should look like and sound like...
Their stage presence reminds me of mc5
Nah, a rock band should sound like themselves, not all rock has to be this or AC DC thats fucking boring
What? Contrived rip-offs?
FUCK YA!!!!!
OMG. I remember being in the audience for this back in July 2004. Good memories!! The Hives 4ever.
I was in Irving Plaza for their concert. It was amazing.
The Hives has to be the coolest live band in the history of modern music.
The camera work is amazing here because they have something to work with - The Hives are so animated it's amazing. Definitely one of the best musical guests he's had, and I love how Dave gets super pumped and psyched afterward. Classic moment.
This is great, perfect for TV!!! They can make you move if your 4 or 80.
Thank you for your music.
I saw them live years ago, truly the best show in town
i attended musicians institute in the early 90s...a great music school with great musicians from all over the world...but those players from the scandinavian area...especially the drummers, were mind blowing...must be something in their water...that being said, the hives rock, they are a real fire breathing rock N roll band. \M/
Yes. Sweden has alot of kick ass drummers but USA got Dave Grohl
What institute?
Just discovered this band from Justin Hawkins Rides Again... Again. How did I miss them? Just amazing!
this makes me want to be in a band so bad......that performance was flawless....that one part when he matches his voice perfect with the guitar....that is amazing....matched perfectly......5 stars
One of the few vocalists today that sounds as good as he does live as he does on the record.
For some reason, Clockwork Orange comes to mind when I see these guys.
Thanks RUclips for recommending this after 16 years 😅
OMG, they still sound awesome in 2021!
It's impossible to not smile when seeing these live...
I love there guitar tones! Clean is so underrated. Sounds great on You tube. You can even focus on Dr Destructo's bass.
These guy's are a whole bucket of fun...
Long live the Hives!
Ive watched this maybe 50 times & still LoVe it!!!
I had never heard this band until this performance and afterwards I'll never forget them. Absolutely awesome!!
Fan vad jag älskar The Hives
jupp!!
Jag med!
Såg dom första gången -98 på Arvikafestivalen, förmodligen det bästa jag sett…..🔥🎱
Awesome. This is the kind of band you listen to when you're sick of peace and quiet!!
My god, they are fantastic live, never seen such great artists before!

what happened to interpol's hair mozart #chippie
This response is marvellous. A very exotic usage of English.
I wonder what you were smokin there, fretui
Im 100% metal but man the Hives are one of the most jammin bands ever.
Fuckin aye
A young Mick Jagger + Alex Delarge = Pelle Almqvist
When I saw him for the first time in a concert i was like "OMG Alex Delarge!"
I would say a cross between David Johansen and Iggy Pop. Very clear Iggy and the Stooges and New York Dolls influences.
YES! Especially Pelle 's kubrick stare and wide beautiful eyes! :)
And Iggy Pop
LaLallaLoves 👍👍👍👍👍
That tiny strat is hysterical! hahaha. i love this song. probably one of my favorites
I LOVE the start, "We are The Hives, as the man said" lol :D
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Letterman praise a musical artist so much
Watch his interaction with 'The Heavy' after they perfromed
@@andrimufid2195 well, they do have a major advantage with over 10 people in the band
I love the big man...it's like, okay you've got to repeat this chord for the enitre song...and he just makes every moment his own. Rocking it out all the way.
Letterman impressed. Never thought I'd see the day
unlike most live bands. they can actually move and play at the same time lol
I watch this video at least once a month, love this performance
He has such a great voice.
They are the best Rock N Roll band ever!! Thumbs up from Croatia
I'm from Hungary and I love them!
2023 and their 2 new single releases are the tits! They are gonna explode this year.
This was the first song I ever learned on guitar. Bloody hell that must have been at least 16-17 years ago now. I feel so old.
That was an awesome performance!!..love the Hives
I've always wanted to see them live. I love how they're so into their audience. You feel that they love what they're doing.
My favorite new song, even though it's about 10 years old.
Likewise.
Over 10 years old
This is my fav Hives song. Before they went pop. ruclips.net/video/_9Igp0XNuR8/видео.html
I saw them live in 2006 they were opening for neil young it was amazing, they electricated the whole arena. i will never ever forget it
Excellent live performance. They rocked Letterman's tv-studio!
These guys delivered. No question about it.
... Ohh, I'm so proud!
The best swedish band ever!
My friend knew Pelle when she was 4!
In the words of Bill Hicks, I WANT SOMEONE WHO PLAYS FROM THE FUCKING HEART!!!!!!!!
I've seen the Hives live. This is simply not comparable to the enegry level they generate.
where at?
I Saw them today
Saw them last night
I am envious!
That's the bad thing about bands playing talkshows etc. Not their typical audience so they are usually pretty reserved.
saw them live in Riot fest in Chicago. they rock!
bruhjale Me too. Great show
This is an AWESOME performance
GO GO Sweden!! They are really good!
Kisse from Spain!
simply perfect performance 👍👍👍👍👍
So much energy in their songs, love it :)
Best Rock band 🎸🎤from Sweden 👍🇸🇪
This isnt rock its pop.
I saw these guys at my Uni back in 04...Still one of the best live experiences of my life. ...it helped that John Spencer opened for them as well!
such a great band

More Jagger than Jagger
Great music! One of the best bands today!
so many good bands came out in the 2000s
True
That guitar tone... omg BRILLIANT
holy shit Pelle killed it
And then he dragged it out of he'll and killed it again!
Their live show is truly mesmerizing in Portland! The looked nervous and up tight on TV.
They do actually sound perfect live :D
Dude Pelle is the greatest Lead singer ever!! He has so much energy....
This is great!
Omggg, soooo good live. Spot on.
I like how hw sings is it only me or what......come on he has a unique voice!!!
i've seen them live- the lead singer has so much charisma at close quarters!!!
Also, love the Hives.
i always love their suits
Have seen them live and they are like a hurricane. I feel like they are an amalgam of Devo, The Stooges and the Rolling Stones.
Truly awesome band live

That mic-stunt just before he starts singing is so expertly executed. This is how it's done folks.
