Grief is a weird thing. I haven't deleted my FIL's contact yet at all and he's been gone a year. Honestly, I don't tend to go through my phone contacts until I switch phones.
My Dad has been gone for over 5 years. His contact is still in my phone. Probably always will be….
The same for my best friend who died in 2013. He’s still in my contacts… because I’ll never be ready to finalize his death.
Occasionally I’ll scroll through my contacts in search of someone and it’s just a little ‘hi’ from beyond.

We had strong winds on april 13 th here in Maryland.
My mother passed away 10 years ago. Her contacts are still on my phone. By now someone else has her number. But running across it from time to time when looking up another contact reminds me of her. Now it makes me smile. Keep your grandfather's contact info.

Same! My dad passed in 2010, and I still have his contact info in my phone...
I don't delete any contacts from my phone (some for negative reasons) and family members' birthdays also stay on my electronic calendar and in my perpetual from EC. You never have to delete anyone from your phone - space is no longer an issue 😊
