    good thing that they will build 4 platforms in melton to future proof the electrification, its a shame they did not do the same for deer park

      Deer Park definitely should have had at least three platforms for smoother running for outbound services or at the very least been built as an island for easier interchange between the two lines

    mt aitken is due to get a station in 2028 is already on city of Melton plans as it due to Westfield building a shopping centre there and is going to be similar to Geelong Westfield built in 2 parts to incorporate the station in the plans

    This video has some good coverage of the lines in their current state. While it was briefly mentioned that the lines could be electrified, it was a shame that all the forethought regarding future 4 track expansion on both Melton and WV lines was missed. A lot of the new bridges built as part of the regional rail link project (particularly noticeable at WV station) have been built for 4 tracks. The new stations, including Deer Park, have also been designed for future expansion to 4 tracks. Additionally, the location of the future South Wyndham Vale station is also evident in the track layout to the south of WV station where the tracks diverge.

      Yeah but its a shame that the lines will likely not be electrified

    When that happens, passengers will inevitably miss the well appointed VLINE comfort and speed. Metro trains although good, are just that slower and ordinary. Why fix what is not broken? Works fine as it is.

      The trains get jammed with passengers right now. If they electrofied it, the journey time would remain similar, but the journey time for the geelong and ballarat lines would probably be able to increase.

      Really @victorstock5842. No it does not. You know the RRL cannot cope on the Geelong corridor and people are getting left behind.
      That is why Sydney are be miles ahead. What is the reverence to v/line. They are ordinary.
      The Government should complete the Western Rail Plan so that Wyndhamvale and Melton will have fast frequent electric services that they deserve.

      It aready does have its own service, like there is Wyndham Vale or Geelong or whatever. But it isnt enough so I have to suffer in a over crowded 3 carriage short haul vlocity. Fun!

      @MarkoCR221L I'm from Geelong originally. The 2 lines need to be separated. It isn't fair. Geelong line passengers were promised better service after RRL & now we have our already very full trains overcrowded by what is the suburbs of Melbourne. Geelong trains should not stop at those stations

      Geelong was meant to get the fast rail but do to apparently the goverment having no money they cancelled the project, and that money is going to the useless SRL project which will never be completed.

    there is also talks by vic gov to look at a similar hybrid train like the tesla giga factory train in germany to run in both a battery powered where no lines and using the lines when in metro area and also for long distance services have charging lines for e.g. 3km either side of a station to allow recharging of the batteries

    @stcm so spending billions of dollars to build a train line that takes the same amount of time the current sky bus does represent good value ?

    • @stcm
      @stcm 18 дней назад

      The SkyBus does not take the same amount of time as an Airport Rail link would - thats only true if you live in the Melbourne CBD or East Melbourne. Melbourne's hub and spoke public transport model is inefficient. Airlines around the world have also noticed the same issue with hub and spoke airports and point-to-point connections are on the rise. It would have been good value if our governments just did what they needed to do when they needed to do it, no matter how unpopular it is at the time. The state of the national broadband network is the laughing stock of the world. If we had built out our infrastructure with fibre, it would cost a fraction of what it would today for installation and maintenance.

  • @MichaelSmith-px1ev
    @MichaelSmith-px1ev 18 дней назад +1

    This is an example of the absolute lunacy of the labour government and how they manage rail lines. Melton should be electrified. The bottleneck of sunshine between v/line and metro networks with the additional airport line is a clear example of how NOT to provide an efficient train services. Bottleneck on bottleneck on bottleneck. The quicker we remove this bottleneck the better, 1 Geelong line through Werribee, 2 Melton electrified and 3 Airport rail should have always gone through the Flemington line. Hello let use a line that is hardly ever used !

    • @stcm
      @stcm 18 дней назад +2

      IMO the airport line running through Sunshine is a much better plan than running it through Flemington. Using Sunshine makes Tullamarine via rail a viable choice over driving for Geelong and Ballarat users rather than just serving the needs of Melbourne users.
