This is my first time watching Colin. I was sent to the site as I also grew up in Yorkville & although I don't know the guest personally, I know some of his family. Anyhow this was awesome. He brought back memories. He spoke more of the 60's & 70's. I am more of late 70's, 80's and 90's and like this guest I saw a side of Yorkville that the residents of today wouldn't believe. They think it came from a movie. But I'll tell ya it was the safest place growing up cause we were like one big family and everyone looked out for each other. My mom was there till her passing in 2009. Although I lived in Brooklyn, Long Island, State of Florida, Middletown, NY & for the past 17 years in Vestal, NY, never have I found the love and loyalty we had for each other in Yorkville. To this day I keep in touch with my Yorkville Street Family (which is how I look at them) & although many of our good ones have past...I know they still look over us. There never was and never will be a neighborhood like YORKVILLE again! We had block parties, helped each others parents, could walk through the projects at 2am without a care. #Yorkvilleforeverinmyheart. Thanks Colin for giving our representative time to talk about it! Very impressed with his interview. Kinda reminded me of one of my real brothers, who passed on! Peace, love & happiness to all!

Detroit would surprise a lot of folks. Like, yes there are big chunks of blight. There are also handfuls of intact historic neighborhoods with beautiful mansions tucked around the mess. It also has a lot coming back to the point I've been amongst a thriving, vibrant downtown in the middle of 16 degree january, people out walking around all over. Definitely worth saving. As is Cleveland (who seems to be bringing neighborhoods back to life in a way wider way than Detroit where a lot of the poorer and further reaches are getting in on the momentum).

I grew up on 82 and York and have fond memories of living in a 5th floor walk up aka tenement. We used to go to John Jay pool and Carl Schurz park that's featured in this video. There were amazing German and Czech bakeries and restaurants in the 70s and 80s, streets not years. A few gems are left.
