“A place where the beer flows like wine, where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Aspen.” - Lloyd Christmas
Seeing these comments and people around the US and the world saying how cool and iconic Aspen is, makes me feel very lucky to be able to live there. (I actually live in one of the nearby towns, not actually in Aspen. I won't say where exactly though for privacy reasons).
Thanks for taking us through Aspen. I've always seen pictures in the magazines when the Hollywood elites go there for vacation. I always thought Aspen was an exciting place from what I've heard from the elites, but, your drive just shows that it's just another town. The mountains are beautiful.
Honestly that's sort of the point of these videos. From an early age, we all hear marketing campaigns that don't appear to be marketing campaigns about many different places. Then you go and see the McDonalds, Home Depot, and CVS Pharmacy. And realize it's sort of like everywhere else. Thanks for the feedback!
I really love your videos and i hope this year you’ll bring videos of you driving in cities like Cape Town,Johanesberg,Barcelona, milan, amsterdam,Accra,Liverpool,Bali,Nairobi ,Kigali, Windhoek
I noticed that in town, you drove around on the same streets twice. I was hoping you would drive other streets so I could see my once long missed town, none the less I enjoy it.
i was sort of in a rush and had to get back to denver to catch a train. may be back there shortly with my new camera this january. hopefully! will redo it
i remember that Kurt Cobain used to spend some time there..isn't it ? i was reading this in a biography 20 years ago... when i was a young guy... that pretty much the only thing i knew. then thanks for the ride ! was nice to put some nice quality images with amazing colors as usual. Cheers from the french guy lost in Nigeria with his bikes and cams

In December of 1967, with Viet Nam War hanging over my head I dropped out of the University Of New Hampshire. I was 18 and headed to Aspen to ski bum. Stayed in "The Dorm" a 4 story Brick hotel. Sure the building is still there but couldn't spot it. I washed dishes in a Mexican Restaurant ( Tico's of Aspen) and earned day tickets at Aspen Highlands by packing powder for an hour where the snow cats couldn't go. Two years later I did exactly the same thing. Tico's had changed to Toro's ( or vice verse) but I found room in the Dorm once more. The owner of the Mexican Restaurant had a brother in Mexico City with a Ferrari Dealership and the airport was filled with Lear Jets. So Aspen was already unique, but the mountains remain the same. I've never once regretted my decision to drop out.
Cool video! I live near Aspen. I won't say where exactly for privacy reasibsy, but it's one of the surrounding towns. Aspen is generally a bit pricey, but the skiing is awesome. I love the skiing but avoid town and spend my money besides a ski pass upvalley where it's a bit cheaper.
I guess the point of Aspen is that only rich people can afford to live there, so it keeps attracting more rich people who don't want to deal with anybody poor. It really doesn't look that great.
@@ronaldraygunpew Actually you're wrong. I'm a Colorado native. There are no ups and downs in the Aspen real estate market. The market is climbing albeit at a very gradual clip like Beaver Creek, Bachelor's Gulch and Vail. Nothing is cheap and never will be. I remember in the late 70's when a home could be had in Aspen for $100k. But considering the average home back then in Denver was about $30k, that was a lot of money. The average home in Denver now is $500k. The workforce in Aspen does not earn enough to buy a home unless you own a business there and even still it might be a big stretch to come up with $1.5 million for a very small home. Nearly all of the workforce there commute from other small towns like Carbondale where rent is much cheaper although the drive is 40 minutes or more in good weather. Aspen is a great ski town and party town. Octoberfest is a lot of fun too. It's a really nice place to be and visit, especially Maroon Bells.
Después de la nieve y el invierno y los asombrosos paisajes de frio extremo, sería excelente un cambio de clima: que tal un video en el desierto recorriendo el "Valle de los Monumentos". UTAH, póngalo en su agenda.
Aspen is a cool, little, town...stayed there in September of 2018...nice hotel room will set you back at least $700 dollars a night...a ham and cheese sandwich...$13 dollars...not cheap but worth a visit...
Aspen is beautiful...Mt. Ajax Gondola is a beautiful ride to the top🙂 do you really think rich people are happy? Mostly not! Its all about outward appearance/status. I'll take pretty, little Glenwood Springs❤
I don't understand why real estate is so expensive here. It's just a little and gray town. And I don't think the ski resort is open for more than a few months a year. And also, it is located far from major cities.
Underground power lines, nice! Welcome to Gods Country! New rule, only electric cars allowed through Aspen, it's a disrespect to the city to have emissions.
To be honest Aspen is kind of plain and boring looking. There are way prettier mountain towns in Colorado, Telluride for instance looks like something straight out of a movie.
The mountains near town might not be, but there are some pretty spots nearby but outside town. Such as Maroon Bells, which is among the worlds most photographed mountain peaks.
@@MilesCraft1 Not just the mountains and scenery but the actual town itself like the architecture and style is kind of meh. I mentioned Telluride because the buildings and Main Street are all gorgeous old buildings like from a western movie.

Ok Lloyd, Aspen it is.
Women flock there to perform for that paper! lol

I’ve always loved aspen ever since dumb and dumber great content 👍
the funny thing is none of the movie is actually shot there, most of it is Breckenridge and the hotel is actually the Stanley in Estes park
Here in the U.K we are on full lock down, it is very tough, your videos are the only chance i get to leave my home, so to speak, so thank you.

I love every second of this experience watching your videos. They're really great and never disappoints! Keep up the great work! : )
So you're telling me theres a chance? YES!!!!
Beautiful as usual. Aspen is an iconic place even in EU. Nice to see it while driving
A picturesque ski destination, these rocky hills host white capped snow patterns everywhere in the winter.

Yeah, honestly I was thinking the same. It's ...okay, but nothing spectacular and doesn't seem like it's worth going out of your way for.
youd be wrong m8. timing is everything housing can be very affordable and when life is normal pay is great.
