The editing is spot on, not to mention the playing. You're nailing this RUclips thing, Philip.
Lend it from a friend few years ago for a acustic concert, since I only own five string jazz-basses and stuff. The audience thought it was a joke when I walked with it on stage. But soon after I hit the first note, everyone was blown away. That thing is no joke, even if its good for some laugh. :-)
I love mine. I have small hands and arthritis. You don't have to stretch, or press to hard to fret. I like it being quiet for practice, but still have the option to plug it in for volume, and effects. ❤ Also out of all my guitars and basses this stays in tune the best. Which really surprised me.
That actually sounds really really good. I’m just as surprised as you seemed. Could definitely see having that along for travel or plucking around the house
I’ve been thinking about picking one up for plugged-in acoustic gigs. It seems like that texture might lend itself well to the more natural and organic sounds of acoustic guitar
I have had a Kayla for a few years and it is a gem. Paul Simon's bassist uses one!
hey maybe you could do some videos about Composition, decostructing basslines and talking about the theory behind it, would love to see that kinda thing :)
Awesome! I will post a bass like composition sometime this week or next. Stay tuned!
Man, it would be so cool to see more reviews of bass specific gear from you! Just something I think would be cool :)
Yes great idea, when they come your way Philip.
dude just saw you for the first time, awesome video quality and the chord progression... man the 4minor gets me everytime :D
I was pleasantly surprised by the tonal sound that it produced.
I love your little song there! I can also really recommend the Taylor GS Mini Bass, 23,5” scale length with phosphor bronze strings, great tone. I own one and its a wonderful no plug, just play bass.😎🤙🏼
So glad you are still creating content. Love the video.
Thanks John! I’m back and not going anywhere. Glad to have you here ⚡️
Very nice. I have a Kala Uke and it's a nice instrument.
Oooh, wait until you string it with flats! Similar sound but infinitely more playable and they stay in tune.
Alright, I'm definitely gonna get one now
I don't own a Uke bass but I have a nice squier affinity p bass I use rotosound strings because of Cliff Burton and Steve Harris.
I liked the nearly-upright-bass tone you got out of it, especially in the upper register. That might make a good substitute for those (like me) who lack the space and skill for an upright.
Wow... that's a much deeper tone that I would have expected out of one. That's pretty neat.
Now to catch up on videos since the algorithm hid things. Stupid RUclips.
Another Killer Vid🔥 these look fun for playing on the couch or on your bed
Do u think u can do a review on mono gig bags? Im looking to acquire one but they come with a heafty price tag
Love that channel and really enjoyed your livestream although I missed it live. Just wanted to say that I would love a Tuesday or Thursday live stream. Monday's and Wednesday's seem to be the most heavily populated upload days on my end. Just my 2 cents, thanks!
I love both my steel strings and poly string Kala ubass ❤
It sounds great! Almost like a blend between an upright and a semi-hollow bass! I might have to pick up a Uke bass...
Ok, I totally want one now!
You got a very nice McCartney tone out of that 😊
I’ve had one for about 6 months now and love it! Originally had the bamboo with the rubber strings but definitely like the metal ones more now that I put labella. To me, the rubber was too tacky and grippy for my tastes. The metal strings sound great with pick too
They are kind of cool, don’t own one but know someone who has one & tried variations in stores
The strings can get really stretched out so you have to work with that
But they are fun
If you like that, then you should try a fretless one with rubber strings (of which there are different string types for as well). I also find the 20" scale a bit short and prefer 23" or 25" models.
Really cool instrument, I use it live straight through the mixer and sounds great BUT careful if you upgrade to Kala steel strings the machines can’t handle them, two of them gave up within three months and now I’ve changed them for generic tuning keys….Kala sells theirs over 50$ ea. and won’t probably be better than the OE ones. The piezo is also not too reliable, probably will upgrade mine. One thing for sure the construction luthier wise is superb and it does generate lots of questions. 8/10 ….better tuners and piezo would get it a 10 no sweat.
Sounds great! Which pre-amp does that model have the Kala pre-amp or Fishman Electronics?
Thank you!
Excellent demo.
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Very nice video (I realize I'm about a year late on this). Philip, if you're still monitoring comments on this video, do you think this uke bass could be heard in a band with a drummer? Even if it's plugged into an amplifier, I am wondering if it could be heard over drums and other instruments (keyboard, for example)?
Whole lotta wraps on those pegs!
Nice
Hey, thanks! I have a U-bass, and I hate the way the rubber strings sound when plugged in. I was wondering if the main problem was the strings or the pickup. I.e., should I invest $35 in roundwounds, or should I sell it. Advice?
Another fellow youtuber that likes weird instruments and bass!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Which bass is that specifically? And did you swap the strings? They seem to come with black rubber strings.
You surprise me with the sound 👌 I think the instruments with generic rubber strings are no good.
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
What’s the model of the labella strings on this
Helpful vid! Which model is this?
This is the “Wanderer” U-Bass.
Which model is it ?
Which model is this? I want it.
What model is it?😊
Is this tuned like a normally tuned bass ? Or ukulele tuned bass ?
EADG like a standard bass ⚡️
Silky bass sound as always
