Hii thanks for watching my video 🥰 Nov will be a good time to enjoy Sagano Train and Hozugawa River Boat. You better reserve the ticket online. You can reserve here for Sagano Train www.sagano-kanko.co.jp/en/? And Hozugawa River Boat www.hozugawakudari.jp/ If you wanna enjoy Autumn in Kyoto, so recommended to visit in the last week of november or first week of December. You will enjoy Autumn every where in Kyoto if come around that time 😊
Thanks for sharing your experience. Can I ask more about the bus ride to Katsuragawa River? Is it easy to find and board the moment you finished your train ride at Kameoka Torokko Station? I am also keen to take the train at 9.05am and the river boat ride at 10am. Is the ¥320 flat for adult and child? Is it cash only or able to use Suica card? Thanks!
Hi, thanks for your comment 😊 From my experience, after taking the Sagano Train, you can easily catch the bus to Katsuragawa (also known as Hozugawa River). The buses are frequent, so you won’t have to wait long. For the bus ticket, you can pay with cash or cards like Icoca and Suica. The fare is ¥320 for adults, and the child fare varies depending on age (you can check the details here: www2.city.kyoto.lg.jp/kotsu/webguide/en/fare/pop_fare_age.html#p2).
When I took the Sagano Train last year, I boarded at 9:00 am, arrived at Kameoka Torokko Station around 9:30, got on the bus, and reached the Hozugawa Boat check-in counter around 9:46. I then boarded the boat at 10:00 am. Just a heads up-the boat schedule depends on the water level. If it rains the day before, the next day's schedule may be delayed. So, it's a good idea to check your email or the website a day before your trip to confirm.
When are you planning to take the Sagano Train and riverboat ride? I recommend going between the last week of November and the first week of December. During that time, you'll see a lot of beautiful autumn foliage. Last year, I went on 14 November, and the leaves were still mostly green. Anyway, if you're visiting Kyoto in autumn, I highly recommend checking out Ryoanji Temple 😁. It's a beautiful spot, especially during that season.
