nice, thatˋs the way I did it several ties now too. I used regular gasoline to remove the glue. Letting it rest in the sun for a while also helps. I used Cork insulation (1.5mm) as new grip material.
Yes, the first part of attaching it to the boom can be tricky to get it straight. Rather than doing it by eye, you could try first running some masking tape down the middle of the grip and use that as a guide to keep it straight.
Nice job. Have saved cause I’m sure the moment will arise, only thing is my main boom is a vgrip so sure that adds some minor tweaks to the process of wrapping.
