    What i would do is take a tablespoon out of the foamy stuff from the top layer of your starter and mix it in a clean jar with 1/4 cup water and 1/3 cup flour. That should give your closer to equal amounts of flour and water by weight.

    Wonder what is causing the layering in your starter? Doubtless the higher proportion of water to flour by weight. The fermentation seems to be mostly taking place in the top layer.

    Hi Terry, those days that you boiled water next to it, did you see progress afterwards??
    It might be a summer activity with warmer room temps, maybe a seed starter warmer may to get the temp up??? God bless!!!

      @@SallySockPuppet I thought it would help… But it really didn’t. We live in Louisiana, so it doesn’t really get that cold here. I’m thinking it was a fail because of the flour I was using. I’m going to try again after the first of the year, and use a better quality flour. It will be interesting to see what happens. But hey! At least I did get discard I could make it to yummy things. 😎😋
