Worth watching!! Most informative video I have came across about different countertop materials. It totally depends on your taste, your level of use, and the overall style of your home, while choosing a counter surface. I have installed the "Granite Countertop" in my kitchen with the help of pros at "Legacy Marble and Granite" and I suggest others to install the same for long-lasting and elegant looks.
We had Formica countertops for years, worked just fine. Replacing the old one with the new - it is now made so well that you have to touch it to find out it is not a stone, it is also cheap and durable.
Great presentation! I'm actually looking into purchasing a new kitchen countertop and this video was very helpful. Researched some brands online as well as the ones that were in your presentation. I'm leaning more towards Caesarstone due to the fact that it's affordable and they give you a lifetime warranty, but who knows. Anyways this is exciting!
Quartz may be strong but it does expand and contract with significant heat. Is it stronger than granite? Ask any installer and they will inform you that drilling a hole through granite will take about 30-40 seconds. Drilling through Quartz can be done in close to 5 seconds..... This is a fact. Make no mistake, both materials are strong and beautiful.
1/2" hardened titanium alloy countertops would be my preference. Quartz is softer than topaz and corundum (crystalline aluminum oxide based composite stone) as well.
Respected sir , very much satisfied about your tips n ideas how u explained , but would like to know how about for Indian kitchens , what kind of counter tops would be better.for maintainance free , n long lasting. Please advice.
Hi, I like White Itaunas, I have heard that get stains easily! Is it true? I'd like put this stone un muy kitchen, but I'm worried about it! Could you give me a recomendation? I'll appreciate your help!
I have a very simple question, I. have korean worktop and after 6 years looks like i used sand paper to clean it, very soft material, it marked very easy which. Which will mark more easy, Granite or Quartz using a soft cloth and been careful. The korean top seemed like every time I put my car keys or come home with shopping it scratched easy I want white light colour work top, which one will wear the best show no scratch. marks?
Quartz is 7 on Moh's scale of hardness. Topaz is 8, corundum is 9, diamond is 10. I know these others are impractical for kitchen tops, but your statement about quartz being second in hardness to diamond is incorrect. Plus, quartz counter tops are made with a resin. I doubt the resin is as hard as the quartz unless its made out of one of these materials.
Hi Michael, This is Devendra from Shri Ganesh Granite, India. I just saw your video and I really liked your video. What I like most is your understanding of luxury and deep knowledge of stones. We are a small company with a precious type of black granite quarry in a small village of India. Our sizes are not so big but are perfect for the vanities and other small size applications. We are branding the color as "Luxury of Chintapalli". It is not a marketing post, so please do not consider it like one. If you can share your email with me, I can send you some of the pictures and kind of work we do. I would really appreciate, if you can give me some advice on marketing it. Thanks and regards Devendra Githala Shri Ganesh Granite, India

He clarifies that it’s only a pro or a con IN CONTEXT of your needs. So “not heat resistant” can be a pro or a con in context of your needs. It’s a con if you’re always entertaining large groups of people and have tons of cooking going on in your kitchen and you need space to put all your hot pans. It’s a “pro” if you want to save a lot of money because you don’t really need to put hot pans on your counter.
What?! No way, granite is the better counter for residential kitchen applications. Granite can withstand heat and if you can’t stand the heat, then get out the kitchen.
Here we are almost 8 yrs later & this is still the best explanation of the difference in countertops. Thanks, Michael!
your contractor should be telling you this information

What about marble?
Is soapstone durable?
Soap stone is pretty soft, will scratch fairly easily.
Anybody used a brand called Dekton ? I saw it in store and love it.
The glossy one is super durable, I was told.
Reviews?
Can you do a review after a year. I'm planning to remodel my kitchen and I'm deciding which counter top
what about marble?
llamawizard marble is a softer stone and stains very easy... but it is beautiful
Not good for kitchens
Best: different for everyone

Then why is used in in a lot of restaurants in the food service areas?
@@lorrainenichols650 Yes it's great for an industrial kitchen but a home kitchen... it's ugly.
You say there's no pros or cons, but is high porosity not objectively a con?

Grout nightmare!

Granite can withstand heat and if you can’t stand the heat, then get out the kitchen.
...and then there’s quartzite... 7 on the MOH scale...but a bit pricey.
Good luck going crazy sealing it after every meal.
