    My family has been in the natural and engineered stone business for about 15 years now, importing and wholesaling slabs all over the country. I HIGHLY recommend any natural stone over quartz. Quartz is not heat or stain resistant. The majority of the sheet is filled with resin to bind the quartz together. Granite is an amazing option. You can put a hot pot directly on the surface and not worry with quartz you’ll have a ring the size of that pot in about 30min. You also have a tremendous amount of options with natural stone. If you plan on only using your kitchen once in a blue moon- go with quartz. If you have kids or a clumsy spouse, go ahead and put in a natural stone for your countertop (NOT Marble as it’s a lot softer)
    I will say that quartz is okay for your bathroom vanity.

      I’m not even sure I’d recommend quartz for a bathroom.. i am a designer and have found situations with quartz where a water glass left a ring. It’s not worth the money for the look... it is hard to keep clean.. scratches and stains/ stay with granite or if you can afford it quartzite.

    whatever you do dont purchase the silestone quartz in white...ours has only been in the house for 4 years and yet its yellowed now we have a white silestone quartz wash basin and yellowed countertops! This was never mentioned and so we paid 7,000 euros for white countertops and a wash basin for our small kitchen and it now looks horrible! I think if you are going down the quartz avenue then you should definitely purchase a darker colour if you dont want your quartz to look like crap in a couple of years!

    If you are want to get a more marble look and scare to purchase marble or one-color without characteristic movement, quartz will be the best option for you. Otherwise, as you know granite is a natural stone and each slab is unique. Also, granite counters are also heat resistant.

    • @Sunny-be1wg
      @Sunny-be1wg 5 лет назад +4

      Exactly! Quartz is a ground and mixed with resin and not just as it comes from the source. Quartzite is sold just as it comes from the mountain and typically more unusual in design and more expensive. I would not use granite because what's available now is used in lower end design. It typically doesn't have the lustre of Quartz or the gorgeous Quartzite.

    @caf7798 4 года назад +11

    I'm a countertop fabricator/installer.
    Granite Ups and Downs
    It's a 100% natural stone
    You do have a world of colors to choose from. You could put a hot pot on a majority of granite stones and nothing will happen, but there is a lesser quantity of granite stones that will crack if you keep repeatedly putting a hot pot in same place. These wont be wide open cracks just very micro looking cracks, so thin like hair that could become a problem in the future. You have to seal it every 6months. You can repolish and have same mirror like look up to 98% same as original shine on seams(joints) or on top of stone. Which means if installer doesn't do an great job in leveling the seam, he still has one more chance in polishing down the seam to make it look even. Not to scare you but granite is even said to be found containing radiation. Is very very minimal but not sure if all granite have them. Another thing, Granite is unique. Every piece is different.
    Quartz ups and downs
    Quartz is flexible to some extent. Very hard to break unless you actually are trying to brake it. Cant put hot stuff. DONT BE FOOLED!! ITS NOT 100% SEALED!!!! IT RANGES FROM QUARTZ TO QUARTZ AND BRANDS BUT IT WILL ONLY BE SEALED FROM A RANGE OF 90-97% BUT NEVER 100%!!!! You have to seal atleast once a year. Installer must leave an almost perfect seam. Theres no way of polishing the seam and make it look the same polish as the rest of countertop I dont care what people have told ya!!! Quartz has modern look and it's the new thing now, so that could be 1 point for quartz. Quartz is like no more than 10% actual real quartz, the rest is glass, resin, other components. You have any other questions you can send me a message in my Instagram Caf war robots, I think.

      @@gueroxo29 In my opinion The "Quartz" marketing campaign will become a monumental Disaster. They have convinced consumers to pay more for an Inferior product. The company I work for...Which will remain nameless...sells both. So it is not biased opinion on my part. Quartz is not as porous as Granite but it is porous therefor can stain. And when it does is not easy to repair. Good luck putting hot pans on it or cutting on it. believe it or not i once removed a really stubborn stain on a granite island by burning it out with a propane torch.
