Thiis gave me chills, the whole time. Don't know why, but it made me wish for a mother, or a father, and then I cried a bit.. Haha. I had a dream once, a long time ago, where I lived in this small, small village somewhere in the middle of France or something. It was the mid 1700s, I'd guess, because there was no trace of industrialization, but a lot of art. Also, I had never been outside the boundaries of my hometown because there were no cars, or even roads, really. Not roads like we have today. There were paths, and they all extended deep into the dark, mysterious, and uninhabited portions of he forest that surrounded our hometown. I remember this feeling this insane bond with the rest of the people who lived there with me, and spent a lot of time by the river. In the dream, I had only one experience. It was a sunny day, and I was by the river like usual. This was right by the edge of town, by a small bridge that connected us to the path that took travelers out of town. All I remember, is being focused on the water, under the sun, which made the land seem so colorful and filled with life (I still remember the smell of the dry grass, can hear the grasshoppers jumping through the field behind me, and the cicadas above me, in the trees. I remember this so vividly, I even feel the cold gusts of air as I reflect back to this dream. All of a sudden, out of the silence of nature, I hear footsteps approaching, and quiet but familiar whistling. I got chills, and turned around to see this person who was approaching my village, because I knew who it was, and was in shock that I heard this person. My eyes were filled with tears as I turned to look, and the man began smiling, and then approached me as he cried too. I mean like, deep emotional crying. We didn't say anything to eachother, but in the dream I knew who this man was, it was my little brother, who hadnt been home for nearly 20 years (I have no brothers in real life), and he was my best friend all through childhood, and into adolescence. It was such a fucking bizarre, and powerful moment for me, and I never forgot it, even though it never really happened. It made me start considering the changes in our culture since the days before the internet, Industrialization, and even the before Renaissance. Back then, you didn't have access to information about the outside world. Or even the local world, really! You knew your home, and that's it. That's all you had. The connection between people who lived back then must have been incomprehensibly strong, and the sense of community that you must have felt as a person living in some small village where you'll never leave, must have been significant. We've lost that, or have begun to, and this song made me consider that idea again.
I always loved older version, but this was really something new. Your voice is great at being soft but never slurred. It’s clear and just a joy to listen to.
Oh boi, heart wrenching.Sam, the most amazing thing about you is that you sing so passionately.💞💞The emotion and feeling of each line comes through clearly. It's like suddenly I am in a new world.💕💕By the way the combination of your hair and cap looks so cute..Take care your self.
Dear, Sammy. I love you're voice! i have listened to some of you're songs and they just bring me back to those good old days, the times we all need to remember, the times we cried, and the times we listened to some amazing music. keep it up.
Your voice is so sweet and soothing... The backing vocals humming at 1:49 really added that extra bit to this. I didnt even realize you were the same person who wrote Turtles all the way down! That is the perfect song to run through a forest all the way to an abandoned manor to look at old pictures handing on the wall while trying to assume their past lives. I really hope you get more popular by the day! Keep up the sweetness
It's 00:01 and I'm listening to this to fall asleep. And might I say but all my anixity and depression just feels like it's gone and I'm finally free from the reality of the world. Thank you💞

Your ability to hit the right note when singing is so pleasing.
I just love these old songs. You do them so well. I will have to learn this one and record it for my eulogy.💕
The one person, the one video, that raised up my happiness during these tuff times.
It's 00:01 and I'm listening to this to fall asleep. And might I say but all my anixity and depression just feels like it's gone and I'm finally free from the reality of the world. Thank you💞
this is honestly one of the few times ive genuinely enjoyed a youtube guitarists vocals ( what arnt autotuned or edited) love it man
I played my bass along to this, ahhh I squealed!
LOL! I was playing along with my echo harmonica too. Peace.
I would like to hear it!
My god i cant get over your voice. The tone, and that VIBRATO im obsessed
This is the loveliest cover I've ever heard! It made my morning with my cuppa tea and kitten even better, thank you❤️✨
the way he looked at the camera when he said "Sunny Day" made my heart beat so fast omg
Have always loved this song, but this cover made me love it even more.
smiling in the guiar only part cuz he knows the harmony sounds like angels. Ear candy!♥
i was having really bad dysphoria and literally sobbing but one of your songs auto played and i felt better in a matter of minutes, thank you Sammy
I have a folder with all the songs I want played at my funeral. This song, your version is the last song on the list. I found it so touching and endearing, that I actually wanted this to be the last thing anyone ever heard from me… and it’s you.
I sang this to a teacher I absolutely adored 3 years ago I didn't care I i was making a scene or embarrassing myself in front of my class mates , I just sang it and I've never seen her since I gave her my final hug.i doubt I'll see her again but I hope I do :')
I recently lost my mother and this song is really getting me through the grief. Thank you
I don’t know what to say, except that I’m sorry. I’m here if you need someone to listen.
I absolutely don't understand the "thumbs down" reviews of this song. Obviously, you don't understand it's historical SIGNIFICANCE. My God, people THIS and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy got an entire generation through hellish and perilous times of World War II (that's World War TWO, for those of you with thumbs DOWN). It's beyond comprehension you could so criticise this work !!!! ... Crossbow, pro touring and studio recording musician (guitar, etc), BMI songwriter, composer, arranger, studio sound and recording engineer, 50+ years. I've NEVER left a negative comment anywhere, period....but somebody HAS to stand up for this artist and a wonderful cover of such a great piece of music by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles, performed by Dame Vera Lynn !!!!!!!!!! U N B E L I E V A B L E ......
I’ve got a new song coming out on April 29th!! pre-save To The Bone here🧸💗: ingrv.es/to-the-bone-gqt-r

Now, that is one of the best covers of a song ive ever heard.
"Keep smiling through just like you always do"
Played this song at my moms funeral last year. An exceptional woman with exceptional talents. Just like you.
Ohhhh good Lord!! One good thing in this quarantine. Thanks Sammy! 🙏🏻
youtube reccomends have blessed me on this day,,, your voice is so nice and calm it makes my heart go uwu unironically
So good! You have such an amazing voice!
I usually wouldn’t condone using as much vibrato in the voice, but you’ve managed to make it fit perfectly, I can almost describe as soft vibrato, with a beautiful voice.
Lovely voice and nice chords. Thanks
One of my favourite songs beautifully sung and played.
Just found your channel! May I say that this really brings a smile to my face. I'm sure Vera would be proud of such a beautiful rendition of the song that kept the nation striving on in the face of adversity, both in the past and in the present. You've earned yourself a sub my dear :)
your vibes are immaculate and so is your voice
beautiful rendition of a beautiful old tune, by a very young and talented young guy.
the chord structure of that song always brings a tear to my eye.
Bonus was when the harmony humming kicked in on the chorus and final verse.
I’m a new fan ..found you surfing youtube for new talent.
My son passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm and this song(different artist) was on his youtube Playlist. We are using it in his memorial service.
I love that hoodie lol
This video is the only thing keeping me from crying right now. My friend is moving away and I wont get to see her in person again for a long time. Thank you so much for this video

i was thinking of that too
Such a pure and lovely voice. And let's not forget to mention your guitar skills.

Takes me back to reading the DeValier Veraverse fanfictions when I was younger, your voice is very nice to hear!
Falling Crane I was waiting to see another heartbroken Hetalian 😭😭😂
I'm pretty sure I kept pressing the replay button until I realized that I've been giving to this one video of you singing this song beautifully for an hour-
I just learned that she was alive in 2020, and passed away the same year... at the age of 103... What a legend... May you rest in peace. 🙏
I use to play this with my grandfather 45 years ago.
